Metro Meats is a top of the line establishment in Forest Hills. The owner and staff are friendly, attentive, and very helpful. They have an array of top quality products at very reasonable prices. You get great quality for what you’re buying. Come for the meat, stay for the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. 5 stars!

Top of the line old school Italian meat market. These guys know exactly what they’re doing and you will never be upset with the quality of anything you buy from them. All the cheeses and meats are the highest of quality and fresh. You will always see the same familiar faces behind the counter. Highly recommend!

Love this place and the guys that work here! On my day off, I like to pick a recipe and spend the day in my happy place — the kitchen. Often the recipes call for particular cuts handled in a certain way and supermarket meat will not do(if I were closer, I would always come here)! So I make the special trip here and every single time the guys help me out with great choices! Metropolitan Ave is a great neighborhood and it’s because of small businesses like this that run with pride and attention to detail. It’s like stepping back in time when NYC was more friendly and shop keepers knew your name and your favorites. You are always welcomed with friendly and knowledgeable service. They have a large selection meat, Italian specialties, salads — and make a great sandwich too!

Amazing quality, friendly service and a home style atmosphere. This has got to be the best butcher shop that I have ever been to. I literally can’t find 1 thing to complain about. Even the heros are to die for. Amazing about sums it up.

I’ve tried several meat shops in Queens over the last 12mths and quality of steaks at Metro Meats topped them all. When I laid my eyes on their ribeye cut I knew I was in for a treat that day. The color and marbling looked perfect. I think I even contemplated eating it raw on the way home. As my initial inspection suggested, the taste and texture were fantastic when I actually did cook it. If you’re looking for good steaks in Queens(not necessarily cheap, but good value considering the level of quality), give this place a visit!

A local, well respected & successful, restauranteur told me to come here about 15 years ago. That says it all. They also carry some gluten free items, i.e. Boar’s Head products & a variety of pasta. Mitch, the owner is also eager to help with cooking suggestions. Their Pizza Rustica is unbelievably delicious. This is only available on certain holidays by special order. We had this as a cold appetizer for Easter. Yes-cold, and it was scrumptious. I had never had it before, didn’t know what to expect, and was nervous about not heating it up. I was happily surprised. It was the highlight of the meal.

The huge meat counter is filled with a large collection of deli meats, as you meander further down the glass encasement, the meats become more interesting. Generally Metro’s meats are mostly affordable though some prime cuts can be pricey and I’m not sure if its worth dropping some extra coin as the quality isn’t tremendous. When comparing meats to say a Whole Foods, there is a contest, at least your not being robbed at Whole Foods. The marbling, the textures, the taste are of premium quality at Whole Foods as well for half the price. Want to try before you buy? Just ask for a sample of the new deli cheese or whatever you have a desire to learn more about. If your lucky, you may get away without excessive finger pressing upon the scale. He’s been ripping off the neighborhood for years, you think he’d do anything else to any of you?

I am so glad I found this place. The guys are wonderful and really get to know the customers. During the colder months, they have a stuffed pork chop which is wonderful and so easy to cook… just unwrap the butcher paper, put it in a pan, then stick it in the oven to cook! So yummy! During the warmer months, their marinated skirt steak is my choice for a quick dinner. It has a soy-garlicky flavor. I just heat up my stovetop grill and give it a few minutes on each side. Another family favorite. My only wish was that they would carry grass-fed meat. They do have Bell & Evans chicken. Besides the meat selection, there is a deli in the front with the usual cold cuts, cheeses, olives, etc. You can also get dry pastas, home made sauces, frozen ravioli, and other Italian goodies. Stop in and take a look.

They greeted everyone on a first name basis! It was my first time there and they were mighty friendly. I almost bought the whole store. Great meats and a great source for imported Italian items. Went there again, still awesome! They remembered us, too!
