right down the street from me but what a major disappointment. i came here with a classmate and we split a couple rolls. she got spicy salmon and a dragon roll. i got a philadelphia roll, miso soup, masago sashimi and soem other highly forgettable roll. i have NEVER seen such tiny slivers of fish inside a roll. the fish to rice ratio was like 10 – 90. about two weeks later, my friend was craving teriyaki so we ordered three teriyaki boxes to go. my friend does not speak Chinese(note: this establishment much like every other japanese restaurant in Queens is Chinese owned and operated) so the heifer hostess/boss? tried to take advantage by upcharging the three orders to the«dinner» amount when he specifically asked for the bento box versions. Luckily, as he was paying, i walked in just as she was muttering to one of the sushi guys, i stood on my tip toes and gave her my most evil stare and pointed to the menu price. she was not even apologetic and seemed combative as she slammed the register around after she changed the amount. stay away. stay far away.

UPDATE — This place is now called OSAKA and has new owners. I wasn’t impressed. Need to find a new sushi place! We eat here at least once a week. The owners are very nice and very accomodating. The tricolor salad is my favorite starter … as well as the wasabi wings. When I go with my husband and son we get the party platter A, which is more than enough for the three of us. You can also order Thai-style dishes such as pad thai and fried rice even though it’s not on the menu. The prices are extremely reasonable and they allow you to BYOB!

I seem to crave sushi a lot so when I’m at my bf’s we always come here. I do recommend dining in b/c every time we order take-out the presentation and quantity is mediocre. For appetizers you must try the honey wasabi wings, they are really fantastic. The Megumi house salad is pretty good-it comes with seafood and chicken with a generous amount of ginger dressing but the lettuce is just standard iceberg. For dishes, I’ve branched out and tried their chicken teriaki and pan fried udon noodles. They were pretty gross. Dishes with rice and noodles are not supposed to be sweet. On the other hand, my dining in experience with their sushi keeps getting better and better with each visit. I find that my sushi portions are growing and the quality is superb. Also, they have a 10% off special good for a few more weeks. So dine in and order lots of sushi.

Edited: 11÷7÷09: OHNOIT’S CLOSED! It’s now a different sushi place, one that isn’t as good and its also more expensive! Ahh my Fire Dragon Roll… will I never enjoy your deliciousness again? :sad sigh: Must find a new sushi haven. I don’t care who makes my sushi — girl or guy as long as it is fresh and delicious. I got the delicious Fire Dragon Roll for $ 10.95 and their huge lump of fried green tea ice cream for $ 3.95. I love this place — yummy AND affordable. I don’t know why people say this place is expensive. it’s CHEAP compared to other sushi places! Their standard rolls are $ 2.75 where as other places I’ve eaten at are $ 4.50. Their special rolls range from $ 6.50 to $ 14.50. Rainbow Roll is $ 7.95 when other places I’ve eaten have it for over $ 10.00. The staff is extremely friendly and gracious and if you bring in a menu, there is a 10% off promotion that ends 5÷30÷09. I’m taking my friends tonight!

I called an order into Megumi for a simple Unagi roll and two California rolls while coming back from school. I always passed it and wondered how the food was. I figured I would try the food, and if it was good, go back to review it after having dined in the place. The food was not good at all, and therefore I felt it necessary to review it here. The Unagi(broiled eel), was almost cold, and the avocado in the California Roll was like eating mush. The California rolls were literally falling apart in the container, and would just break as I picked them up with my chopsticks. The rolls were small and although the unagi had a pleasant sauce, everything else about it was bad. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because I have not actually eaten inside the restaurant, and it could have just been a bad day for them.
