Lived in Rego Park for over 20 years and have been looking for a coffee shop to call«home.» I’ve finally found it. Really friendly and cozy and the breakfast is exactly what I wanted. I’m a corn beef hash and egg guy and it was excellent. Then I tried my wife’s chocolate chip pancake and wow. I may have to pair that with hash instead of eggs.

I have lived in Forest Hills for almost six months now, and just encountered this incredible place. We came to eat a late breakfast– both my friend and I got pancakes and bacon(she also got scrambled eggs and hash browns/home fries). Everything was delicious. I have never understood the people who side with pancakes on the waffles vs pancakes debate but these pancakes are absolutely worth fighting/arguing for. Our waitress was attentive and we both finished our plates. Will definitely come back.

Old school place. Love the fresh food. Too crowded on Saturdays, but overall good service.

Early Saturday Morning and as the hunger strikes, what better way to calm those hunger pangs but a quaint little coffee shop. The place is quite small with only a few tables and booths, but there is no need for anything more than just that. It reminds me of a 50’s malt shop, where everyone is friendly and neighborly. The place lacked alittle tender loving care and the walls are bare, could use a new paint job(just a suggestion) The Menu was a one page traditional american fair log cabin-esq hunters menu. All items were priced under $ 10 which now fits why certain interior areas did not get undated. Clearly the idea was to keep that 50s malt shop flair. I had Three eight inch griddled cakes, with ample portions of bacon. The pancakes were fluffy, moist airy and light but everything i needed to put with it was lacking. the butter was hard as it was in the fridge too long and should have been set out to spread across my pancake, which damn well tore my pancake in half. The syrup was from a squeeze jar, Syrup should be poured and some additional flavored choices would have been nice… All in all i really enjoyed the morning there, just do something about the butter and syrup…

The food was good as well as the service! We tried a little bit of everything and our kids loved it all. My only gripe is they only take cash. It’s 2015, come on! :) but we will be back!

The food is very good diner type food. Family run, good vibe in there and above all very clean which is a big A+ in my opinion. Great place for a quick eat with either greek gyro or your favorite breakfast foods.

I’ve lived here for 15 years an never came in. Very unassuming from the outside. Went to CVS and had to wait an hour for my prescriptions so I came to have coffee. Wound up ordering the omelette special. This place is a hidden gem. Clean, friendly and has that family feel. This is my new diner! Will bring my family!

I come to this diner every weekend with my boyfriend and would not go anywhere else. We are so loyal to this diner, on Sundays(when they are closed), we don’t go anywhere else. Family run and I love that. Food is consistent and always great. Wish they were open on Sundays but everyone needs some time off.

What every NYC neighborhood needs, other than a bakery and a bookie is a cozy coffee shop just a few blocks from home. As I sit in my favorite #7 booth, paying the minimal amount of attention to my conversation, my mind wanders to some of the times I spent in the Forest Hills Coffee Shop dating back many years. The stories shared with friends, almost a of Seinfeld-esque experience in Queens. Additionally the Forest Hills Coffee Shop served as a perfect location for me to have an informal business meeting, as I could tumble out of the covers of my bed, shave, dress and arrive fifteen minutes prior to the meeting, sometimes five minutes early. The pictures that adorn the walls are actually posters of a Gyro and some poorly strung and unlit, Christmas tree wire. How awesome is that? The owners have been here for twenty five years and there is nothing suggesting they did nit take up the business yesterday. I say that in jest as I would love to see some old Forest Hills pictures, specifically of Metropolitan Ave before it became the congested mess it is today. The Breakfast Specials menu consists of about 15 total options, mainly egg based with a stellar throwback(#8 I believe) of Chocolate Chip Pancakes, a stack of three will cost you under $ 7.00. The service is swift and attentive, your coffee cup will never see a micro centimeter below three quarters full, the Warm Ups are always timely. Corned Beef has a tendency to come out over done, perhaps confused with my «:well done» Home Fries request. Eggs are always prepared to perfection but the side of bread is low quality. If they stepped that minor detail of the bread up, I feel it would be quite beneficial, as it is difficult to sop up yolk with cardboard.

Great little coffee shop family run. I give it 5 stars for many reasons. First of all they easily have the best diner coffee you can ask for. Another is the corned beef hash. There’s nothing crazy about hash but Dino, the owner and chef, makes it perfectly crispy where it just tastes so good along with some eggs and toast. It’s just regular breakfast food but it’s always good here. His daughter is the waitress there and she is very pleasant and no matter how busy the place is she takes care of all the customers quickly and always with a smile.
