I needed a new pair of glasses and went to a couple of the chain stores. Wow was their service and knowledge poor. A friend recommended American Vision Care to me for their knowledge and service. I am so glad that I listened. They were courteous and helpful. I am very picky when I try on new frames and they had a lot of patience with great suggestions. From start to finish and final pickup the whole experience was what it should be…(Simple, courteous and met my needs). I will recommend to other friends!

I needed a new pair of glasses and I had tried several of the chains stores but either I didn’t like them or they didn’t accept my insurance. I saw the positive reviews for American Vision so I decided to give them a shot. From once I set the appt up until I received my glasses I was impressed with their service. There was no trying to up-sell or attitudes. I took my time picking out the frames I never felt rushed and they would tell me if they felt the frames didnt look good on my. My eye exam was through and once again no rush. Ill def be back for my eye care in the future. I forgot how nice it is not to shop in a chain store.

The other day I was in a panic and really needed glasses. I took to Unilocal to find a good place in the area and they came up. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. The employees at this location were seriously outstanding. They listened to my needs and were very helpful with my emergency. 5 stars all around! I’ll be back, that’s for sure.

Needed to get eye test done for the dreaded dmv and they allowed me to quickly find out if i passed or not, as i had a restriction last time. i passed, and they quickly and efficiently filled out my form and let me pay by debit card. Very nice people and I will return. Thanks

Staffs were very attentive and nice. I went in for contacts, and I wanted to try ones for astigmatism. First, I tried on one brand and it was uncomfortable and didn’t fit my eyes, so the doctor immediately scheduled another appointment for me. She went out of her way to order a different brand for me and made sure it fit me comfortably before letting me go. The doctor is extremely nice. I definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I stopped in today to find out which providers would take our insurance– Davis Vision. Davis Vision works both ways, the insurance is part of GHI which depending on the plan you choose, you get a network of providers. Depending on your occupation, the union has a list of providers that accept the insurance and the allowance you receive that goes towards your vision plan. Anyhow, we were told by our usual provider, Station Sq. Eyes that they do take Davis Vision but they were not enrolled in a union plan. We decided to search another provider that takes our insurance. And we came across this spot. We were greeted by a middle age lady with glasses, who warmly asked, how she can help us. My husband explained that we were trying to find providers who takes our insurance which is affiliated with his union plan. Her pleasant demeanor quickly vanished as soon as my husband provided a paper with his social, etc. She quickly dismissed it and stated as a matter of fact– I’m not going to do that, you need to check and call if that’s the case to find out who takes your insurance. My husband explained that we tried contacting some providers and the only way to find out is by calling or entering his info. She rudely told us, oh kay but if you give me a minute as I’m busy at the moment. I’ll find out. She went back to a customer who was debating on several pairs of glasses frames. Keep in mind that the customer was already being helped by another associate. If she was really that preoccupied with the customer, she would not had turned her attention to us in the first place. Ahh… but $$ is of time and essence. No sales, no need to be attentive. You’ll be amazed by how others show their true colors such as this instance. First of all, I don’t get what her problem was or why she was so dismissive. The fact that she felt it was not her job, reluctance to make any phone calls or look up info to help a potential customer. Finally, after she successfully convinced a customer of a sale, she turned her cold attention to us. And with annoyance, she asked«Ok what’s your info?» After punching in his social. She just said, «Nope, they don’t take it.» When we left and got back to our car, my husband’s insurance provider contacted him. They told him to let the business know that they have to input in his work ID# and not his social due to his union plan. We end up searching Advanced Vision Care who takes Davis Vision in addition to union plans. And, they had absolutely no problem taking his info in addition to making an appointment for us. Word to the wise– To the lady who didn’t want help us, take note of this review! There are businesses who show genuine customer service. You are not the only store in the area. It doesn’t matter how many years of experience you have under your belt, ARROGANCE does not define class despite your professional demeanor. Future patrons, be warned esp with all the raving FAKE reviews here!

The best eye glass store in town! The owner, Victor will go out his way for you to suit your needs. Dr. Alice Dankman is courteous and professional and will test your eyes completely to assure that you have the right prescription.

I needed a prescription for contact lenses. Although I was unwilling to spend the eye exam money without insurance, considering the prescription would be valid for a year, I decided to shop around the eye clinics on Austin street. American Vision Care is one of the clinics that charge $ 80 for an eye exam while the others charge $ 85, $ 95 or over $ 100. The girl at the front was a bit cold while I was asking about appointments. However, the clinic is clean, bright and spacious. So the next day although I was not convinced by only a few reviews on Unilocal,I decided to check in. Dr. Alice Dankmen was very friendly and professional. I got a couple pairs of free contacts. I’m so glad I chose American Vision Care.

freedom isn’t free, and neither is taking good care of your eyes. enter American Vision Care! I came in here for an eye exam prior to my insurance plan changing, as well as to get new glasses and contacts. it’s been two years since I saw my old eye doctor — who has offices in Brooklyn and Manhattan, which are inconvenient if I have some sort of optical emergency now. turns out American Vision Care is contracted under my insurance plan, and they’re just a few minutes’ walk away. time to give them a shot! called on a Tuesday, and got an appointment on Thursday night. yes, they are open until 8 on two nights a week and all day on Saturday. THANKYOU! if you’ve seen my other reviews regarding the service industry, I am always glad to find some place which is open late enough that I don’t have to take precious time off from work. sorry, but any place which can’t concede to the hours of the working man for at least one night is automatically suspect in my book. Dr. Alice and the girls in the front of the office were all very friendly and efficient. I even got a sample set of contacts in the prescription I need(due to an astigmatism in the left eye); the doctor told me to try them for a few days before she placed the order for my year’s supply. when picking out glasses, the girls in the front were very helpful and didn’t just push me to get expensive ones. personally, I think it’s kind of dubious to review a medical place based on pricing, since every person has different insurance plans. I know that contacts at Costco are cheaper, but they also take a long time to arrive, and here I only waited 2 weeks. I am glad to say that American Vision Care is going to be my default destination for all needs optical. the friendly, professional service just can’t be beat.

I called and was able to get an appointment the same day. Customer service was great and I love Dr. Alice. She was very patient, helpful and explained my situation very clearly. I had a comprehensive eye exam and Dr. Alice explained every step which I was greatful for because I havent been to an eye doctor in years. The place wasnt crowded but the few people who came in to pick up their eyeglasses seemed happy with the service. Dr. Alice explained since I just turned 40 my eyes muscles arent as strong anymore. I have to return in 10 days for my new reading glasses :-(. Very thankful for my health insurance that covered the majority of everything and I only had to pay $ 25 for the exam, frames and lenses.

These guys are great. I needed glasses and contact lenses because I decided to take a last minute vacation the day before Thanksgiving. Since my eyes were too irritated for contacts and my glasses wouldn’t come in time for my flight, they let me pick out a frame and fitted them with temporary lenses to hold me over which was incredibly helpful of them. They went out of their way for me when they had no reason to. I certainly will be coming back. Staff ws friendly and obviosuly, very accomodating.

Been loyal to this place for years now(obviously this means nothing to them) and this time really was the worse experience. Considering I’m pretty patient and mellow, I couldn’t believe I snapped the way I did. I called in and made my appointment as usual to get my eyes examined for contacts. Went in the day of and saw a couple of people were already there waiting. That was fine, didn’t really care, figured that’ll give me a chance to browse for maybe some new frames. They had 3 people working behind the counter that day. After waiting for a bit, one of the reps asked me what I was here for. Told them my name and thats when it started. That first person kept scrambling back and forth looking for my records and asked for my name and the purpose of my visit a few times. I thought to myself«shouldn’t you guys have pulled my records already? Isn’t that the whole point of an appointment.» but whatever didn’t want to be a smartass, so even offered to write my name down for them to look. They said no it’s fine. Then 10 – 15 minutes later, the second person takes over seeing that the first person was having a hard time. Again, what’s your name, why are you here. Thought, okay maybe this person knows what they’re doing, Nope, again back and forth what’s your name and what are you here for? Seriously, I just told you like 3 – 4 times not including how many times I’ve ALREADY told your colleague! Then a THIRD person comes by. By then, 30 minutes have passed, I was annoyed. Seriously half an hour and you still don’t know what my name is and why I’m here?! AGAIN the third person back and forth what is your name and why are you here. Seriously?! Am I getting punked? That’s when I snapped… got into a huge argument with the 3rd person and asked to speak to a manager. Ended up that the 3rd person was the owner. Exhausted and angry, I asked him if he’s the owner why is this place so unorganized and why is he yelling at me for being pissed off?! Couldn’t believe this place would get me so angry. All I wanted was an eye examine to refill my contacts, simple as that. Guess it wasn’t so simple for this place. DONOTGOHERE!

I’ve been to this place for the past several years. My sister first recommend I try them. I get my glasses and contacts from them. They are always very helpful and patient with me, as I really need advice when it comes to selecting frames. They also do their best to find the right package or deal for your needs. Recently got a great deal on a year supply of disposable contacts. And Dr. Alice is a real sweetheart.
