The food is good but always leave a little hungry. It does have the small town dinner feel so if that’s what your going for it’s pretty great. One of the few places around that actually has a vegan option so that’s nice.

Old fashioned drug store lunch counter Step back in time folks. Old timey lunch counter, just like Maybery. I thought the food was OK(better sandwiches at Café at the Mall). But that kind of atmosphere is so rare. we always stop by when we’re in town.

What can I say… one of those hometown places… you know, the kind you grow up with! So…what’s good here… Cheeseburger, of course… it is your basic, good all over, sloppy burger. Nothing fancy… just plain good. Fries are, my guess, frozen… but…they go well with the burger… and, again, no apologies… just home town eats. The Pimento Cheese sandwich is also very good… turn it into a grilled cheese with some tomato on it… yummy… Love sitting at the counter and ordering… more fun than one of the booths…

This has become our regular Saturday breakfast spot. The food is always fresh and it is impossible to beat the price anywhere else. Two, 2 egg breakfasts that comes with meat, hash browns, great wheat toast, coffee and a side of grits costs just over $ 10 total. If you are here for lunch, a must is the George’s melt. A fantastic patty melt that is very hard to eat entirely in one sitting.

If you are looking to have your very own small town«Mayberry» experience then get yourself to Smith’s Drug ASAP! This is where the locals eat breakfast on Saturday mornings. You will overhear some interesting conversations while you wait for your order which normally would annoy me but this place just oozes southern charm. The Fountain in Smith’s Drugs prepares a breakfast special daily that is exceedingly good. Eggs as you like them, choice of breakfast meat, grits, gravy, homefries, or hashbrowns, with toast or biscuit served with coffee or tea for less than $ 5! I highly recommend their sourdough toast. If you happen to miss breakfast hours then go for their homemade potato chips and pimento cheese sandwich. You won’t be disappointed. There is a small gift shop to browse as well as the actual pharmacy. The building had been freshened up several years ago with a new color scheme and cute little hanging glass signs. All in all Smith’s Drugs is too charming to miss. Definitely worth a drive if you’re not local.

Best liver mush and pimento cheese sandwiches I have ever had. If driving thru the forest city area during lunch I consider this one of the hidden gems to try.

Breakfast back in the 70’s and 80’s. Inexpensive, good service, good food. Wow! My new favorite place on the way to the mountains. Western omelet was big, tasty and hot. Home fries were very good. Coffee was good and hot.

You’ve got to try the livermush! The food was made perfectly to order and the coffee is smooth not burnt or muddy.
