My kids have been attending this Dojo for over two years. They have attended other Dojos in the past, but this by far is the cleanest and most professional experience that they have had. It truly has a family feel to it! My kids always look forward to attending classes. I don’t like to bash other Dojos, but this one is worth the investment. The fundamentals and additional classes make this location an ideal place to grow! We drive out from Rancho Cucamonga for a reason. Sensei Joseph and his team are the main reason that we continue to attend! Check out their trial/intro classes, you will want glad that you did.

My wife and I brought our son to the dojo to begin learning respect, self control, and how to be a better person to others around him. It just so happens that he is also learning karate at the same time. This family ran business really takes the time getting to know each of their clients. When you walk in there is always a smile on the face and a friendly greeting. When meetings need to happen to discuss progress or other situations that need to be addressed Shihan is always willing to make time and go that extra mile to help address those concerns. I highly recommend this dojo if you are looking for a business that really cares for their clients/customers. Thank you Claycomb family for running such a caring establishment. We look forward to many more years of personal growth in our son and can’t wait to bring our 3 other littles when they are old enough. Blessings from our family to yours.

My family and I will celebrate our 4 year anniversary at this dojo tomorrow! The instructors teach classic karate technique and apply it to real life self defense situations, along with grappling, wrestling, and sparring. Classes are fun and exciting, keeping everyone engaged in the lesson. Teamwork and individual development are fostered through benchmark testing and partner drills. Come visit us at the dojo!

The Academy of Martial Arts or also known as the Fontana Karate Club, is a two story facility that contains high quality equipment, padded-mats, heavy bags and many other training tools which most traditional dojos refuse to provide. They offer an ala carte option to their programs that include traditional forms(kata), sparring, karate for mma, wrestling, as well as a very well rounded kid’s karate program for multiple ages. You can choose anything from the list YOU want to do. Most other old-fashioned dojos only provide the customer traditional training from a single viewpoint and tend to neglect the practical aspect of training in the real world. They do offer tournament sparring and self defense based classes too. This is a traditional Shotokan dojo with a twist of modernity that offer you a very practical and personalized approach to effective training. As a black belt looking for a new home to train in, this dojo was the one that caught my eye the most. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and a welcoming vibe. I look forward to joining and continuing my journey here.

This is hands down the best martial arts, karate based dojo in the inland empire! This is a real deal dojo, not a watered down version. Shihan Claycomb and Sensei Dionne are true masters of karate and their passion for the art resonates in the curriculum and robust classes! Shihan Claycomb has created a wholesome curriculum unlike other places I’ve checked out: he teaches the physiology, philosophy and discipline components of karate, he explains it all!

The children’s classes have a good variety of skills for my kids to learn. So far my kids have learned traditional karate, practical or reality-based karate, self defense, and bag/mitt strikes. Their emotional confidence has increased as well as their physical coordination. These classes keep them off their video games for an hour(at least!) and they are learning something useful.

This is an excellent Dojo. The knowledge that is provided is very good, in depth and serious. My son does the kids class and I do the adults class. Sensei Dione is great with the kids(and with the adults when she works with us). They get an excellent workout, learn respect and gain the introductory skills needed to move forward with the art, as well as some great application for self defense against abductors and such. Shihon Joseph is an excellent instructor with the adults, very good at showing how and why certain body mechanics work and others don’t. The adult classes are serious workouts with, in my opinion serious results for those who focus and work hard. I appreciate the attitude and philosophy of the instructors as well, offering both a dedicated traditional knowledge of the required skill-set, but also being able to teach application for both street type self defense purposes(which is MOST important) or competition. While understanding that it is an «art» to be explored by every individual in a way that works for their own bodies to make it their own, I have not experienced any«high-horsed» attitudes from the instructors, very down to earth, approachable and willing to teach… If you are willing to learn, you will learn a lot. The sparring and grappling classes are obvious extensions of the primary classes, and I feel essential to having a well rounded technique, as the traditional Kata, or forms, can be applied in grappling scenarios as well as on your feet. The classes actually encompass much more than being rigidly Shotokan style, although that is one of the main focuses. We get a good education in martial arts here, applying techniques not only from Karate, but kick boxing, olympic style wrestling, a little Judo thrown in, maybe some Aikido now and then, with some traditional weapons techniques as well. The instructors are available for private lessons as well if you really want to delve into a specific area of study with more personal training. It’s a real martial arts education. Just come and do it all, you won’t regret it! It’s a great learning experience for both children and adults. The facility itself is very well maintained, and stocked with high quality equipment, heavy punching bags, hand pads, shield pads, excellent floor mats, etc. as well as some little perks like chin up bars and free weights. The environment has proved to be very welcoming and made my family and I feel right at home from the first day. It’ has been a pleasure to train here and I really hope to see this place thrive for years to come…

This dojo is one of the better one’s I have visited when looking for karate classes for my son. They offer traditional instruction and teach with integrity and they are all about teaching the principle of their art rather than watering it down. I am also interested in joining too, after looking around in the area and watching several classes, Fontana Karate Club reallly seems to be the best place for my boy to train. Oh before I forget, they also have the biggest facility with plenty of training equipment. This dojo seems to be a great fit for anyone looking for a good school.
