«A Decent Lunch Buffet In Folsom» SITREP I don’t often get to Folsom, and when I DO, I am more in the mood for a STEAKHOUSE or CIRO’s PIZZA. But when I am in Folsom for an extended weekend, it is nice to have a Chinese option to shake up the menu offerings a bit. THEMENU This buffet is okay. It’s not spectacular in my estimation, but it is pretty decent and tasty. I think it was pretty close to $ 10 per person — which, considering the offerings — was a bit steep considering what I can get at the DRAGONHOUSE in Natomas or at UMEKO in East Sacramento. But I’m in FOLSOM and this is what it is. There is a combination of both JAPANESE and CHINESE cuisines here, with the usual California Rolls, chow mein, fried rice, steamed rice and a mix of different vegetable and meat dishes. I’m told by my Folsom friend that they do alternate from day to day. THELOWDOWN It may be nothing to write home about, but it is an okay lunch experience.

All you can eat? YEAH! All you can eat sushi? Heck YEAH!!! All you can eat sushi that rocks? Unfortunately no. My buddy keeps dragging me here for lunch, cuz he likes it, but I must be a sushi snob because I just can’t get into it. My inner being tells me the sushi is a low grade sushi that comes cheap enough to make an AYCE profitable. It just doesn’t taste like the fish I get at Oto’s or Mikuni Hazel. The rice is somewhat hard and the flavor isn’t quite right either. The chinese food is typical of a buffet. The one thing I do like is the hot and sour soup. I usually have 3 bowls. I’m a soup guy. There’s soup in my veins. I guess I’m just a dreamer for expecting anything better for $ 11.

Not bad for lunch. In my 2 years working in Folsom this was one of my more frequent lunch places, it keeps me coming back. Lunch buffet at a good price(about $ 11 after tips and tax) — I’m always starving at lunch time so buffet is always welcome. They have a small selection of Japanese sushi and Chinese food in the buffet. The sushi(like salmon and others) are actually pretty good. The Chinese food section though, I would usually avoid, as they don’t look that attractive(they don’t taste that good too when I do eat them — maybe I’m just more picky at Chinese food, being a Chinese). I’ve heard that the dinner buffet was good too and they provide sashimi(means without the rice) there for taking, instead of just the sushi. I haven’t tried it though.
