Food was bland and had no flavor. They did not use all the necessary ingredients to make the dishes. It was really weird. I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant were they left out key ingredients. The food didn’t look right or taste right. My chaas/buttermilk was terrible. It tasted off like it was about to go bad and my stomach hurt later. We thought it would be good because it had good reviews. We will NOT go back. On the upside the restaurant seemed clean, service was good and people were friendly.

Just amazing authentic south Indian food… Great service too. The best part is their dedication to cleanliness and purity. If you are not familiar with Indian food, I suggest you stick to a masala dosa(savory crêpe with a potato spicy mashed potato filling) or the vegetable biryani or the pakora followed by the coffee or chai tea and end with the grand gulab jamun for dessert. Well, if you are in the mood for some adventure the options are plenty. Reasonably priced and they offer meetha pan too. Would definitely come back!

This is one of the best South Indian vegetarian restaurant i have eat in; this is coming from a south indian. The food here tastes very close to home cooked meal, it is very light on your stomach and not spicy at all. The service is very fast. They consistently make good tasting food and the taste is the same every time you eat it. It is very affordable and the best one in Folsom. I love their thalis the most. Downside is that, they don’t sell non-veg food here.

Very nice South Indian delicacies. Authentic south Indian food. Must try in Sacramento area. Moody manager or whoever it is. Other than that, friendly staff and a very tasty South Indian food.

One of the best places in Folsom! I would go as far as to say it is the best South Indian cuisine restaurant in Folsom and the bay area! Binged for weeks on almost every dish on their menu. From the classic masala dosa to the special chettinad dosa, everything is delicious with an authentic south Indian flavour. Other notable menu items are chana bhatura, partha korma, vegetable biryani, medhu vada, uttapam, the soft idlis and their simple yet flavorful thalis. The watermelon juice through the harsh summer months of Folsom was always a welcome relief. Sweet dishes are delectable as well! Last but not the least, the staff is friendly and the service is quick for both delivery and dine-in. It has been my home away from home for the past 7 odd months and I am gonna miss it dearly when I leave Folsom! :)

Very disappointing! My husband and I stopped for dinner here. I was visiting this place after about 3 years, and I remembered the food being very good. I was appalled at the presentation and food quality now. There were no mats on the tables, juts one paper mat in the middle for the water pitcher. My masala dosa came in a plastic tray, with 4 molded cut outs for bowls. My plate would spin everytime I ate as the bottom wasn’t level. There were about 2 tablespoons of coconut chutney(or rather an apology for it), one water orange chutney, which tasted like watered coconut chutney with color, and about 3 tablespoons of sambar in a tiny bowl, which made it hard for me to even dip my dosa in, and the fourth bowl was empty. How tacky! The dosa had another 2 tablespoons of potato mix inside. I asked for more chutney and sambar, as 2 tablespoons of those were not going to suffice. The best part of the meal was the chai and the servers were very courteous. The overall experience was slightly better than a fast food place.

One of the most authentic South Indian cuisine I tasted after I moved to Sacramento. Needless to say became one of the regulars there after. This place has the best taste for almost all items on the menu. Thali meals, Bisibele bath, Idly and Vada are some of my favourites. Very good staff especially Ramesh Anna and Challayya, who are very courteous and friendly.

Someone mentioned this place to me. It advertises«street food». Unfortunately for me, I could not understand the names of the dishes. So, I opted for the vegetable biryani, since I’m familiar with that dish. OMG! Delish! Second time around, I’d google the names so I could order. The place is vegetarian.

I love the Tiffin Plate or a Dosa, as there are many to choose from here. I am not Indian, and can’t speak for Indian foods at all in an expert fashion, but I know when I love the food. WARNING: Weekdays at 12:15, Mylapore is usually packed and you might have to wait for a seat. That tells you something. Nice patio, good seating arrangements. The service is «usually» attentive if you come early. The food is now very consistent. They have upped their game! I crave this place sometimes, Dosas are fun to eat. WARNING: If they are too crowded you might not get a peak experience.

In this area, you can’t go wrong with this place anytime spicy and flavorful vegetarian food is needed. Right next to my office and home I sometimes frequent this place 4 – 5 times a week. Small place that is very popular fills fast on weekends. Is also popular with my American friends and colleagues. My regular order is medu vada and Mylapore special dosa. Their thali is below par with mixed up thali menu. You will find garbanzo in thali menu daily. Table assignments can be trickywith their anticipation of being busy. On weekends expect to only get a table when exact number of people eating matches number of seats at a table becomes available. Even if whole restaurant is free.

I go here very often, one of the specialty restaurants in Folsom, better than Sarvana Bhavan or other south indian cuisines of the bay area for me. Food is great, very fresh and the place has always been clean. Restaurant is all about being able to treat customers nicely and fortunately my experience has mostly been good, Ramesh recognizes me each time I visit along with my family and checks with me if everything tasted good or if I need something. This does make a difference. Wish the restaurant was little bigger considering the customer base.

Our group wanted a farewell lunch for our Intern this summer. There was 6 of us. We had questions on the menu but there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of knowledge with the types of options. My colleague asked for tea, was told it had mint in it and she confirmed it would be okay. Another gentlemen brought over tea but it wasn’t mint it was chai. She said she asked for mint tea but he said they didn’t have mint tea. This was very confusing. Being a good sport, she took the tea anyway. We ordered a lot of dosa specials. I enjoyed mine, it had a nice potato and onion filling. I also ordered a mango lassi. It was alright, a little underwhelming. The Intern who picked the restaurant was the one who cleaned his plate. The rest of us finished about half but the common theme that was mentioned was that it was a little spicy for everyone. There was no confirmation when we ordered if there could be different levels of spice, it seemed like you just had to deal with whatever was served for you. I wanted gobi manchurian, my favorite cauliflower dish, but it is only served at dinner. A little disappointing. The food was good but the service was a little poor. I was surprised that the restaurant filled so quickly. It sounded like my team was willing to come back and try other dishes. I live out of state so will try to explore different Indian restaurants when I come back to Folsom.

Awesome restaurant with awesome service. Everyone is really helpful and friendly at this restaurant. The food is really delicious and reminds me of home. You have to really try the weekend dishes. Shakthi is a very nice gentleman who always has a very good smile.

Good food with the worst possible service. The entire staff treats inhumanely. It spoils the whole experience. Have happened couple of times. — They said different vegetables for Thali and got different ones. They just did it to fill up thali thinking people will not notice. — They close at 10 but take last orders at 9:30!!! They make faces taking order even at 9:25. — Once me and my wife had to wait for 20 mins for a 2 seater table to vacated when almost the entire restaurant was empty. — Few words like PLEASE, THANKYOU, WELCOME, SORRY are missing from their dictionary. — Majority of the time food is served with angry faces. Please at-least pretend to put on smile. HELLO… We are paying for the food. All the staff even the owner treats customers as if they are giving away food for free.

Satisfies craving for south Indian food. This was a recommendation from our friends and on the way from Lake Tahoe we stopped here for lunch and we are happy we did. They have an extensive menu and service was fast. Peserattu and rava dosa were good. so as the rasam vada. Podi idli was okay. Chutneys were nice. Overall a must visit place for south Indian food lovers!

Goto place for all the times I have been in folsom. Tasty food! My current fav is kothu paratha. Dosas are little overpriced imo. But tasty nonetheless. Would like to see service be little more organized and more south Indian curry choices in thali.

It takes a lot to surprise me. But Mylapore surprised me. I thought I was going there to order vegetarian Indian food, but found that apparently all of the meals here were from a region of India that I did not know had their own cuisine, so when I looked in the menu I deer-headlighted because nothing was familiar, and there weren’t enough other people eating to have any idea what the foods were. So we ordered, and we ordered dosas, some type of lentil donut, and some type of spiced butter milk that I pictured tasting like a tea. I did not like any of them, honestly. There is a hefty amount of salt in this type of food. The spiced butter milk was a type of watery milk with some type of pepper powder inside. Not remotely sweet, which is fine, but very salty with sort of a sharp spoiled milk taste. The dosa was very cool, but cool isn’t really the same thing as delicious. I was really happy to eat it, and I don’t think I want it again. The lentil donut was also very salty and tasted a bit too much like a mashed potato pancake for my liking. Still, I have a really hard time faulting Mylapore for this. Everyone else at the restaurant was raving over their food, and the food quality looked exceptional for a place that resembles a fast food diner. I’m convinced that the reason I didn’t enjoy it was because I wasn’t at all ready for it, because even though I have been to maybe 100 different India-inspired restaurants in my life, I have never tasted anything quite like this type of food. Chances are if I had been to one of these places more often I would have a palate that could handle the salty flavors, and I wouldn’t have ordered the spiced buttermilk like ever. I would consider going here for a first time experience, and would probably even recommend it for those trying to branch out in unique foods, but it is not my favorite, even though that is not really Mylapore’s fault.
