Ok, so even though it’s next door to another Korean spot, I prefer this one for rice dishes and the other one for kimbab. The spicy squid over rice comes with corn, and I’m a sucker for corn. Also, they accept credit cards here, and that’s a plus.

I tried ordering vegetable kimbap, but they said they didn’t have it. It wasn’t on the menu. I ended up ordering their«mushroom kimbap». Later, as they were making my kimbap, I overheard one of the staff saying they will only make vegetable kimbap if the customer says they don’t want mushrooms. They will then remove the mushrooms and deduct 25 or 50 cents. I felt disrespected because they said it in front of me(maybe they didn’t know I was Korean?) and because I was forced to pay more for the mushrooms. It would’ve been better if they straight up with me. It is deceptive and annoying. So, the bottomline is. if you want vegetable kimbap, order the mushroom kimbap without the mushrooms.

Fairly crowded with cheap-ish, quick service. Don’t let the crowd deter you since there’s(windowless) seating downstairs. One weird thing was that the downstairs is so isolated and dungeon-like that you have to push a button to get served/even have a waiter check on you. Got spicy seafood ramen but was a little disappointed since it tasted almost exactly like instant spicy bowl ramen(and not even Shin :(() The kimbap that my friend got looked really good, however!

1st time trying this place. When asking if one of there dishes was good to try, the lady behind the counter laughed in my face. RUDE. How is it that you respond by laughing in my face. You should know how your food tastes. And if you don’t know, simply recommend dishes that are popular. POORCUSTOMERSERVICE. The waiter who then seated me was actually really nice. Order the beef over rice. It has no flavor. Tastes bland. Overall terrible experience.

This place is absolutely amazing from service to their food(even though this is my first time and I only got their kimbaps). I saw what other people ordered and it looks delicious. I will definitely know what to order next time(very soon). I’ve been working in flushing for more than half a year and I’ve just discovered this gem, shame on me! I was seated immediately and served their soup and radish side dish and a cup of iced water. That’s being fast and effective. The waiters were friendly and quick with everything. I ordered the spicy beef kimbap and spicy tuna kimbap. While waiting, a group of six came in and since I was sitting at a table alone with two empty tables next to me, I was asked if I can move to another separate table. The waiter asked me very politely which was nice. The kimbaps took a bit of time probably because it was during dinner time and lots of people were ordering. I finished my soup and side dish, getting all ready for my kimbaps, and the waiter took my soup bowl and radish bowl and came back with more! I didn’t know they were going to give more(I could get full from just that). The kimbaps came and I loved the spicy tuna one. Right amount of spicy and the spicy didn’t cover the tuna taste. Each kimbap order was cut into twelve pieces. BIG pieces. And more radish came with it(the yellow kind). The spicy beef one was not as good because it didn’t have much taste to it, the beef wasn’t spicy in my opinion and I can’t take too much spicy but that was just spicy-less. I dipped each one into the radish side dish bowl which had spicy sauce in it. Even though the spicy beef kimbap wasn’t as good I wanted, it still didn’t stop me from giving this place a five stars. I would definitely come back, for lunch and/or dinner. And everything is pretty cheap or at least decently priced. Tax was already included when the bill came, which is basically $ 0 because the total was the sum of my two kimbaps. Definitely a plus! They take card too! But only for the bill, tips you still have to pay in cash! Awesome service so I didn’t hesitate to tip them well.

This place is perfect. For undiscerning and growing high school jocks who need a lot of food on a tight budget. It is inexpensive but taste as cheap as it is. The ramen used in their ramyun is the instant one you get at the supermarket down the street for $ 1.49 a pack. It is stored on the shelves by the bathroom near their garbage disposal area where it belongs. Their coffee is instant Old Town coffee you can pick up while you’re there for the instant ramyun. Remember tip in cash only. The servers were nice. They were high school jocks.

Kimbap galore! I’ve been here a few times and especially loved the kimbap: — tons of options(beef, spicy tuna and squid are my go-to’s) — good rice to filling ratio — always freshly made to order — quick service for takeout — $ inexpensive The other things look good too but we can’t resist the kimbap when we come here.

I came here for a casual lunch fix: the service was wonderful, but the food was mediocre. I got seated immediately after walking in, even though most of the tables were occupied. Four chefs were hard at work behind the long counter that’s visible regardless of where you sit inside this eatery. I ordered the omelette rice, which was topped with a gravy seasoning and came with a salad(iceberg lettuce with a thousand island-like dressing), and corn. This dish wasn’t anything exceptional or mind-blowing: in fact, besides the omelette(a thin layer of egg topped with gravy) which tasted delicious, the fried rice underneath tasted bland. I was surprised, because the fried rice looked like a kimchee(pickled radish) fried rice mixture since it was red-colored, with small chunks of spam, a combo that I would expect a lot of flavor from. But this dish didn’t deliver that. A plus, though, is that you get unlimited miso soup: the servers always check to see if you’re running low on it & fill up your soup bowl if you are, without being asked.

The best Korean fast food in NYC. Best kimbap no matter what you order. Freshest seaweed wrap, not overly salty, great ingredients to rice ratio, brushed with sesame oil(key), and wrapped nice and tight. I even pre-order 20 rolls or so if I have guests coming over(just place order few days before hand). It’ll come in a nice large platter. I mean you can order day of, but probably get 20 rolls in 20 tiny Styrofoam boxes. Great odeng soup. Lots of fish cakes, just wish there was a bit more scallion. Even their free kimchi radish is decent. This is usually inedible in most restaurants imo. My girlfriend swears by their rice cakes(I just don’t touch rice cashes at all). Either the regular order or rice cake with ramen. Great to dip your kimbap into though. Their entrees are also quite sizeable and all delicious. The pork and octopus over rice is a personal favorite. Would always get extra rice just to eat up the left over sauce. Entrees come with soup and salad btw.

Even though this is my first time to review, I have been going there for so many times recently. I love their #22 pork cutlet, fish cutlet, and spicy tuna kimbap. #22 pork cutlet: very filling, the meat texture is nice and it goes well with the soup. #27? Fish cutlet: is a better option for you if you don’t eat pork or don’t like pork cutlet. The fish is really moist and tender inside, and crispy on the outside. It comes with the lemon slide and a sauce cup. #37 kimganae special dish: it comes with one pork cutlet, one fish cutlet, and a meat patty(burger style) Spicy tuna roll: the best thing ever!!! I always get it when I go there. The soup compliments well with it too. It is not that spicy, I cannot eat spicy food and I could tolerate that. Kimchi fired rice: it’s okay… I don’t really like it and won’t order it again. It was spicy for me and the rice is a bit hard and dry to eat. #46? Bulgulgi with rice: it is really good. I would recommend for people who can’t eat spicy food to try it out. I like ramyun dokboki. It is spicy, you can adjust and tell them how much spice you want, they will do it for you. It tastes better with spice than none. The(spanish) guy refills the tea and soup, he is so nice. The waiters are attentive and helpful as well. We requested for more rice and it was free of charge! Lunch special hour is from 12−2pm and some of their dishes are on lunch special price, some.

3.5 stars. I didn’t know this place existed until my friends brought me here for a nice casual dinner. Since it was the weekend, it was packed and there were lots of people getting food to go. The space is kinda small, but not terribly so that you’re practically sitting on top of each other. We waited about 10 – 15 minutes for seats since the waiter suggested we wait for a table of our own so we didn’t have to sit with others. Service was good and our food came out quickly! We browsed the menu while we waited and decided on a couple of things to share so we can have a little bit of everything. We ordered the ramyun dukbokki, omelet rice, kimchi kimbap and the beef + inari kimbap. I also ordered the jujube tea, but somehow ended up with ginger tea; it worked out for me since it was a tad chilly and the spicy ginger warmed me right up. I recommend the ramyun dukbokki since it’s flavorful and kinda a perfect combination. The omelet rice was good too. The kimbap here is pretty standard and pretty good. You won’t find anything that will blow you away here, but instead you’ll find simple Korean style street food that fills you up and satisfies your Korean food cravings. The food here is certainly budget friendly and it’s not like they just threw it all together when they make your food just because of the prices you’re paying. I would love to come back and try some of their other kimbap rolls and menu items. Overall, a pretty good option to have when you want a quick and satisfying Korean food fix!

I passed this restaurant all the time and never ventured in until yesterday. I was in the mood for some korean food and Unilocaled of course. I came across Kimganae!!! The place is definitely smaller than your average restaurants, but it was packed. I decided to place my order to go. I read the reviews and duly noted that their kimchi fried rice was the best. So that is what I ordered. In addition, I ordered a spicy beef roll. The food was made to order. Definitely a plus. The kimchi rice was made right then and there and I was able to view how the ladies prepared the rolls from scratch. Very nice. It came out to about $ 16. Not bad. And it came with the pickled vegetables which I like and a salad. The food was delicious. Just the right amount of heat. The downside was that they didn’t serve bimibab with a protein. Neither chicken nor beef. So I didnt not order that. However, I shall definitely stop by and try something else.

Honestly. I tried thinking of reasons to not give this place five stars… I couldn’t. This place is located in flushing around all the other Korean stores near by. The staff here is really nice and very attentive I must say. I’ve been to Kimganae for at least over 20 times and not once have I’ve been disappointed coming out the store. I usually like to bring friends here as well if they have never tried and not one did they come out disappointed either. Portion of the food is huge, I usually feel pretty full when I leave this place. The Kimganae special is one of my favorites! It includes a fried fish filet, a pork katsu and a hamburger steak. Yes it comes with gravy for the steak and katsu. And yes it comes with tartar sauce for the fish. Comes with corn on the side with a mini salad as well as my favorite carb dish, rice. I’ve had half the menu already but let’s not get into the description of each and every meal. This isn’t a book I’m writing. Let’s cut this short, just go here.

This little gem has been around for as long as I can remember. Although I love this place and the food, I gave it one less star than a perfect five because the quality of the food doesn’t always seem the freshest. The portions of every dish are super big and guaranteed to fill you up & more and the prices are relatively cheap. This place is a great place to catch up with friends(although seating tends to get a bit cramped) and has less of a date ambience. The Donkatsu dishes are the most popular and they have a wide assortment of Donkatsu dishes you could order from. In addition, their hand rolls are pretty decent as well. Today, for the first time, in addition to getting a Donkatsu, I tried their«jjolmyun» and was pretty displeased. The noodles were pretty dry and just became unappetizing pretty quickly. In the future, I’ll definitely just stick to ordering Donkatsu.

This is an usual spot for me. I love coming to this place because it’s convenient. There’s a large parking lot that is very cheap in NYC prices on the other side of the block. Service: The service has been lacking. Sometimes it’s fantastic, sometimes it’s slow. My last trip to this place, I’ve gotten horrible service. Once I ordered, they ignored me until I was ready to pay, no refills on water or anything. 3⁄10 Service Food: The food here is fantastic, I love eating kimbap and I return a lot to this place to get it. Some pictures don’t match the food order’s size, it’s a lot smaller when you order it so you should make sure it’s filling. 8⁄10 Food Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the place is okay. They rush cleaning the tables by just wiping everything on the floor. It would be better if they cleaned the tables better. 3⁄10

I’ve been coming here for a few years and can’t believe I’ve never tried the kimchi pizza pork cutlet! I love everything this place has to offer, but this dish is a game changer. If you like spicy food, I recommend the spicy octopus. The waiters working here are super friendly and attentive. They recognize the regulars and are more than welcoming to newcomers. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend this place. Good food, cheap, and inviting environment

Super legit korean street food restaurant! The location sucks bc there’s no parking in front of the store but you can park in the municipal parking lot. I usually get kimbab which is korean style roll, very different from sushi. I also like their udon, omelette rice and dokatsu! They are really good at remembering regulars so don’t tip them poorly! Honestly i feel like anything you get would taste good here so go crazy.

So my mother loves to find new restaurants through her friends, Unilocal, etc. This was one of them. We came in on a Saturday around 5, and it was packed! Luckily a table just left, so we were seated quickly. We were given tea in plastic cups(which was weird because I thought it was water at first). The waiter was very nice, and attentive to all his tables. We ordered the bulgogi over rice and the spicy pork over rice. I thought the portions were very great, and was stuffed at the end. Most places in the city will charge you the same price and give you half the portion size! We also ordered the taro bubble tea, and mocha bubble tea. Both were frothy(in a good way!) and the mocha wasn’t as cofffe like as you may think, it was quite refreshing. We ordered the seafood udon and kimchi fried rice to go. The udon was great(the next day) but the kimchi fried rice didn’t hold up well in a to go order. Not all food is meant to be reheated I guess! I’ll definitely be coming back!

It’s my first time to check in here(because I don’t have Unilocal account before) but this isn’t my first time to come here. I usually go here to have lunch with my sister. And this is one of my fave spot because their food is delish! I came here with a friend of mine before 4pm(Saturday) and I’m glad that we were be able to have a table, coz this place is usually packed sooo yeah. I recommend this place when you are in Flushing!

Seriously great food for so cheap! I wasn’t able to get their lunch special for the pork cutlet, but even at 10.50, it was still a deal for how much cutlet you get. I was a little disappointed in the spicy tuna roll as it just tastes like spicy tuna salad, sooooo… I would suggest choosing different kimbaps. Still a great experience and I will be back to try more sometime.

Decent spot to grab a quick bite for a cheap price. The food is okay, the portion sizes are pretty generous, but nothing special. I recommend not getting their kimbap because they tend to be on the bland side. I usually go next door for that. This a good place to eat with friends if you’re on a budget, but still want to be in a restaurant. Soup and kimchi is free so that’s always a plus.

Kimganae is a great lunch spot if you want affordable and moderately speedy Korean food. The food is hot and delicious and they serve a bunch of Korean street food and comfort staples. Everything on the menu I tried so far has been delicious but I love their donkatsu and their kimbaps(or both! They have a donkatsu kimbap) most of all. The restaurant is tiny though and cramped, they usually have two floors(a basement that’s open for seats during particularly busy days) so be courteous and eat quickly so others can sit as well. A bunch of young people like to linger around sometimes and that can be quite frustrating but that’s expected from an affordable place in flushing. The oppas and unni’s serving are always very nice though and most know English. If you want Korean comfort food in a convenient location swing by here! Edit: Upped to 5 stars because they refill the soup! For a cold winter that’s a huge plus!

Kimganae is always consistent with their food and the waiters are really attentive. They refilled my cup of water when it was only about half way done and then they gave me refills of soup, without me even asking. The restaurant is always busy. But they do have 2 levels of sitting. The basement is more cramped. I typically get the Japanese tonkatsu. They give you 2 large pieces of chicken cutlets. It’s really good. I’ve had the bulgogi and pork both regular and spicy. My spice tolerance still isn’t great and I feel like with the spicy version, the spiciness builds up as you’re eating it. I don’t think this is a problem for people who can eat spicy foods and enjoy it. I do notice that both the bulgogi and pork dishes consists of a lot of onions mixed in the meat itself. Also, their ratio of rice to meat is unproportional. I’m always left with more meat than rice. The portions for lunch and dinner are the same. So I do recommend if you want to try this restaurant to come for the lunch deals. Otherwise, this restaurant is still fairly affordable. All the dishes I mentioned are around $ 10.50 for dinner now.

While visiting new york, I was starving and aching for the korean food that I have almost every day back home in toronto. I was excited to see that Unilocal had led me to kim ga né when I was in flushing, which was a couple minute walk from the subway station. The service is very efficient and especially if you speak korean. There’s a quick line for take out and a restaurant side, where you can sit and enjoy all the korean goodness your body can handle. I’m pretty sure I got the bibambap, which was flavourful and filling– exactly what I need. My friend picked the octopus x rice dish and then we were both munching happily to our comfort food. I remember the portions to be quite big, so it’s definitely worth it. I’m not too entirely sure how much korean food is usually in NY but in toronto, it’s about $ 5 – 9 for a regular dish, so it was a little more pricey here– especially with the CAD dollar being so damn low, eating in the US would make me poor! Still, I can’t complain because I think the meal I had was worth the price I paid. I also wanted to stop by after for kim bap, but they were closed. it’s okay, next time I come around, you can definitely expect to find me here.

I really like this place! It is really conveniently located. Great place for a quick fix when you’re craving Korean food. It’s a pretty casual little restaurant. Their prices are very reasonable. I get very good service here too! It’s kind of a fast food type restaurant. Do not expect a quiet meal though, there are a lot of high school kids who eat here and they can be quite loud and obnoxious. I love their budae jigae! It is so yummy! Their portions are really generous too, I couldn’t even finish it by myself. I love their dukbokki and I highly recommend trying their kimbab too! They have a pretty extensive list of kimbab options! There is always radish and soup that comes on the side of the dishes and you can always ask for refills when you’re done with them. Worth the try! And you will want to come back too!

Solid 3 star lunch spot with reasonable prices. The miso was so-so and the dukbokki was tasty, but not spicy enough. I ordered the dukbokki and asked for the 3rd level of «spicy», not«extra spicy», due to the reviews… But when the meal came it was semi-spicy… my palate needed more of a kick and I should have ordered the extra spicy. The fish cakes in the dukbokki were good, but I wish they were smaller. They were long and almost leathery but the flavor was surprisingly good. Over the past year or so I have only ordered dukbokki with tofu in lieu of the fishcakes. We were seated in the basement… which was odd but necessary due to the hordes of people there. I’m not sure if I would go back, but I’m glad I tried it. If I DID go back though, it would only be for lunch…

I’ve been coming here for years and years but never found it necessary to leave a review because it’s so dang popular and seems like it’ll never go out of style. Nine out of ten times, this place will be a madhouse full of people who dine in and others waiting on line for pick-up’s or to-go’s. The vicinity is not huge even with the lower level. The space on the main level is pretty tight and I’ve had various occasions where my elbows would bump into my neighbors. Downstairs, they have a few larger tables than the ones on top but not as much privacy to converse(even though you don’t really have that much privacy on the main level either) because it’s not as loud as the main level and everyone can hear your conversation. But despite all this, I still enjoy my stay here and am never really bothered by any of the aforementioned issues. The service here is always excellent. No matter how busy it is, I find that service does not vary and I’m always treated well by the workers. Now onto the food. I’ve had almost everything on the menu from the pork cutlets and the spicy rice cakes to the kimbab’s and over rice platters. I was never ever discontent with what I had. The amount you get is pretty decent and it all taste great. I have no complaints! Food may not be luxurious and the absolute best but it gets the job done for a great price. One of my absolute favorites is the Japanese pork cutlet. The sauce is light and delicious and I don’t feel as guilty eating that as I do when I get the pizza cutlet, even though the pizza cutlet is so good too. The spicy rice cakes, kimbab’s, any meat over rice, and everything else are also so filling and worth a try. You should definitely go expecting quick and good food at a great price!

I bees hangin wit Kanye las’ nyte an I bees lyke«Kimganae leave yo ass, bae.» An’ he bees lyke«dayummmmm why yo gotta be sayin tings lyke day m*****f*****. But then he realized that«Kimganae» was actually a great name for a Korean restaurant. And so he opened this place, and never looked back. Well actually he did look back. Whenever Kim was changing behind him. But that’s beside the point. What to get: Kimchi Fried Rice What else: Dream of Californication I feel like when Kardashian wants to blow off a lot of hot air, she needs a Kimchimney. I was trying to figure out the best Korean place in Queens to add to my most recent food tour. This is what the Unilocal searches turned up. If you rub a lamp(I mean an actual lamp, not your thingy) and Kardashian appears, is that a Kimgenie? I came, I parked, I went down in the basement(because every table at street level was full) and found one solitary spot to sit. I ordered what Unilocal told me to order: the Kimchi Fried Rice. I’ve never had this dish before, by the way. If Kardashian does limbo dancing, is that a Kimshimmy? At first I wasn’t too impressed. It was just rice, really. With bits and pieces in it and an egg on top. And at over $ 10, I was feeling a little ripped off and underwhelmed. But by the time I was full(which was about halfway through this huge portion) I actually had to admit I really liked it. It was a grower. If Kardashian admits that her butt ain’t realz(yo), is that Kimgenuine? Then, back in Buffalo 2 days later I ate the rest of it when I was hungry. My goodness! Talk about a grower. It went from a 3 to a 4 star rating during the course of the dish, and then went from a 4 to a 5 once I had it as leftovers. Since then I’ve been craving another one. It’s like I’m addicted or something. But there are worse things to be addicted to. Like girls. Which I am also addicted to. Damnit. And boys. But I’m fine with that addiction. If Kardashian invents a new type of butt, is that Kimgenuity? Anyway, I find this to be a modern Korean place that is very popular with kids in Queens. It’s just so New York. So busy, so alive, so vibrant, so overwhelmed by people. The dish I’ve had is the Kimchi Fried Rice and it’s not too elaborate or fancy but it’s a huge portion and it’ll grow on you. I’ll definitely be back, and I’ll try different things. And if you stare at the«broke the internet» pictures and have a… well, have a good time with yourself, so to speak… is that a Kimgenerated Orgasm?
