As an avid Indian food lover, I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food, from home made to high end to middle end… and I can say that this place falls short on quality. I don’t hate the food, I usually go here if I’m desperate because it’s only a few blocks away from where I live; plus the food is affordable and filling when you’re a broke college student. Whenever I am here, I only get the lamb curry with nan bread. I have nothing against the lamb curry, all I can say is that it’s mediocre, and agreeable and I’ve had much much better lamb curry before. They do have a good variety of vegetable options which I enjoy. I believe they also offer«meal specials» where you can get a protein, and rice or nan and a vegetable for a certain price. The prices all look very reasonable, I however have never tried it before because it just looks like too much food for me. The staff here is also really nice. I always see a girl who pretty much knows my order by heart by now and she’s always so friendly and courteous. So in the end, I guess I will come back to it, since it’s the only good Indian food place around here. But if you’re looking for high quality Indian food, you’re not going to find it here.

A bunch of food that looks like it was left over from last week. The girl serving us was so confused, we just walked out without even eating. Luckily there’s a subway next door

The food here is pretty good. The prices are reasonable. I got a groupon when they first opened so it was a really good deal. Their tandoori chicken and tikka Marsala was good.

I love this place. It was one of the places that showed me back in my omni days that there were vegetarian meals so delicious that you wouldn’t miss meat. Before I went vegan I’d usually get veggie combo platter with lemon rice, naan, chickpeas and palak paneer. Sometimes I’d try another vegetable option, and they were always wonderful. Even things that sound boring like green peppers or cauliflower are extremely delicious here. I did try their chicken and lamb, they were good, but I still usually stuck with the veggie combo because it was the cheapest and just as delicious, if not more delicious than the meat. Their dishes aren’t really spicy in my opinion, but that was never an issue for me because everything is so nicely seasoned. In fact, I’ve never been less than pleased with any dish I’ve tried here. Since going vegan I don’t feel like my options here have become that limited, vegan items aren’t marked but the staff is very kind and helpful if you have questions. The paneer isn’t even in the spinach by default, they always ask if you’d like it. I’d like if they added tofu as a vegan option in place of the paneer, but their food is so delicious that I really can’t complain.

Absolutely love this place. Samosa chaat is my favorite. Very generous servings, I could barely finish one order myself, and it’s supposed to be an appetizer! Kind of greasy, so make sure you’re not going to this place if you’re watching your blood pressure… But otherwise, totally worth it. Awesome selection, reasonable prices, and probably the best Indian takeout in the area

Started going here a little over a year ago. For $ 10, I almost always get the chicken tikka combination platter with rice, a vegetable, and naan. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. The curry chicken is good, the lamb was okay, but it’s not really my thing. The potato curry is my go to vegetable, but I love their lentils and spinach, too(get the spinach with the cheese added). I’ve heard that the chicken tikka isn’t as authentic as other Indian food, and that’s true from my experience, but I like it just fine anyways. I’m often sad when I think of going there on a Sunday and remember they’re closed.

I’m not an Indian food expert, but I was very skeptical about the idea of a take out Indian cuisine place. I felt like Indian food typically consists of complex dishes where one has to artfully take their time in creating. The idea of it sitting there kind of worried me. I read the reviews on Unilocal(of course), mulled it over, and got take out dinner for my boyfriend and I. The young woman working at the restaurant was incredibly helpful and patient in explaining everything to me, super nice! I ordered what I know, chicken tikka masala, naan, the basmati rice, and butter chicken. The butter chicken(or chicken with butter sauce?) was incredible. It’s usually difficult for me to finish an entire entrée and I ate most of this with no problem. Really, really, delicious and tasty, I was so impressed and would love to have this again. It was not overly spicy and this added to how much I was able to enjoy it. The chicken tikka was good, but we were a little confused. The chicken tikka had bright red sauce(not an expert, but don’t think this should be.) It almost looked like tomato sauce? It was also not spicy at all. And, the butter chicken was the chicken tikka, but with butter sauce on it. We didn’t really understand why this was, aren’t they supposed to be two different sauces? Regardless, it was delicious. They give you a VERY generous portion of basmati rice with you food(if you choose it over bread) which is delicious. I also got two types of naan that were decent, I don’t go nuts over naan, always tastes bland to me in general, but I LOVED the rice. Overall, this place is absolutely delicious, clean, and the staff is great. I’m deducting one star because the chicken situation is very confusing, but it all tasted delicious regardless. I don’t doubt that this is probably an «Americanized» version of Indian cuisine, but it tasted great!

We have tried two different chicken dishes as well as curried potatoes, califlower and potato, spinach all fabulous! The yougart and mango drink has pieces of fresh mango in it. We are so excited to find this place and to live nearby. YAY!!!

I really wanted to love this place because 1. I love me some Indian food and 2. I love how close it is to me. I thought this place could be my standby Indian comfort food but unfortunately the food was just plain old bad. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, samosas, naan and their basmati rice. Now when I think of chicken tikka masala, I think of a creamy, subtle tomato-y fragrant curry but that is not what I got here. What i got was a under seasoned tomato filled dish with too much ginger and oddly cooked meat. The samosa was decent which is why they got 2 stars rather than 1 star and so was their fast delivery service. I sincerely hope they improve their recipe because they definitely don’t have any competition in this area and they can be the go-to Indian spot for the community.

Ugh, coming from someone who frequently eats on hillside or jackson heights, the food here is so americanized thats its bland, cold, bland, overpriced, and BLAND. Well at least the people are nice.

I was in the area and wanted to buy some Indian take out. I checked Groupon found $ 10 for $ 20 deal so I bought it and went here. As soon as I saw the entrance & entered I liked the place for take out place it was very clean & modern décor. People complaining about this place may be not comparing with other Indian take out place. I loved the huge screen they have to read menu and prices making everyone’s life easy. I ordered the food. They made naan & poori fresh. Service was good, the girl was very nice and packed my food very nicely. Overall food tasted average but good for the price.

This place uses the Chiplote style of ordering. Everything is pre-made and just thrown together at the last moment. Did a Groupon for this place. This place is not a Sit down restaurant, it’s more of a takeout place. Food was bland and boring, I ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken makhani. The Masala was not made as a curry it was a red paste covered chicken, then the chicken makhani was the chicken tikka masala covered in makhani sauce. Food was not appetizing and gave what’s left to my dogs. The only thing I enjoyed was the fresh baked naan, otherwise an unremarkable experience. Simply the food is cooked WITHOUT any passion or love, it’s just slopped together. I’m indian and I would NEVER eat here again. — also as a funny side note, when I went to pick up there was a massive argument for the 5 mins I was there to pick up food and it was a man screaming at a lady to leave and get out from the back and everyone working acted as if that’s the norm.

I ended up checking out Khyber Restaurant since I found a livingsocial deal for them. Even with the deal, I don’t think this restaurant was worth it. Ordered the Butter Chicken. It was just some chicken dish and they put a spoon of gravy from another dish on top of it. It did not taste like Indian butter chicken(or chicken makhani in some places). I was only able to eat a few bites. We also ordered naan with it, and it tasted better than it looked, so I was happy with it. I also tried the Samosa Chaat, which I thought tasted just ok. The place is small, but I didn’t mind it since there was no one else there. But I didn’t like the food. I’m glad I had a livingsocial deal, because I would have been very mad had I paid full price for it.

I came back to this place for dinner. I had the same great experience as last time. The girls there were very patient when I was so indecisive. I think the palak paneer here is my absolute favorite. The cheese has a very fresh taste to it. The spinach had a very delicate taste and goes so well with the rice and naan I got. My mother got the chicken tikka masala with butter sauce and naan with rice and loved it. I did come back for the pana poori and it was amazing. This is definitely my favorite go to Indian restaurant.

Tried this place for the first time tonight. Place an order via Seamless and received a confirmation email within ten minutes so it appears that they have gotten the hang of how Seamless works. Some earlier reviews mentioned that the restaurant failed to send the confirmation email so the status of the delivery was unknown. Ordering process was simple(used Seamless). However, I did not appreciate that they charge a $ 2.00 delivery fee PLUS they mandate a certain minimum percentage for a tip for the delivery person. Smells of double dipping to me. I wonder if they impose this fee if I was to call into the restaurant and order delivery. I don’t believe that they would be able to enforce the minimum tip if they didn’t disclose it over the phone. I tend to tip delivery guys well but that is based on the service… When you take away the possibility that people will not be rewarded, they tend to give you the minimum level of service. Tonight’s deliver went well. The food was packed really well(no leaks!) and everything was in resealable plastic containers that are air tight and good for transport. We ordered two Chicken Tikka Masalas, a Chicken Samosa, and the Garlic Naan. Chicken tikka masala sauce was wayyyy too tomato-ey. Needs more cream! The Chicken Samosa was tasty(first time I’ve tried it) but I think I’ll stick to Veggie Samosas from now on. The Garlic Naan was definitely not Garlic Naan. Not sure what type we received but I believed they messed that part of the order up. Overall the food was not bad, but not great. i would not order again based \ on the food. The speed of delivery, packaging, and the delivery guy were good though.

I recently passed by Khyber and realized they had renovated the entire restaurant. It looks so spacious and warm inside and the food smells absolutely great. I usually play it kind of safe with Indian food because of all the spices but the lady behind the counter assured me everything was mild. I usually get chicken but decided to get the lamb curry combo platter with yellow rice and eggplant. My favorite is their fresh naan because it is made fresh to go. The food was all hot, fresh and delicious! Perfect food for a cold winter night. Next time I go I will probably try the chicken tikka masala because that is what most people seemed to order. The lady let me know they deliver which makes me life even easier since I live a few blocks away.

If you’re looking for a quick, delicious and affordable Indian meal, this is THE place to go! In my recent visit there, I had the Chicken Tikka Masala w/butter sauce, as well as the spinach w/cheese(yellow rice as my carb). The chicken was tender, but more importantly, the sauces and spices were DELICIOUS! The spinach was also quite good, and the cheese complimented it well. I also had an order of naan… it was made fresh to order and was hot and fresh when I got it. It was a great touch to a delicious meal. For those who think Indian food is overpriced, you’re wrong. The spices they use are of the highest quality and often times costs a lot to buy. You’re paying for the experience and high quality ethnic cuisine. If you don’t want to indulge, go to McDonald’s and eat bad food! Although I haven’t had it this go-around, I recommend the drinks(homemade) and sweet desserts. I HIGHLY recommend visiting Khyber Indian… if you aren’t sure what to get, the very friendly staff will be sure to help you find the best dish to satisfy your taste buds!

Been here for quite some time, but never got around to trying it until today. I’ve always had to trek out to LI or the city for the finer Indian dishes, but this spot hits the spot when you’re hankering for some comforting dishes. The chicken curry combo, reasonably priced at $ 7.50, comes with a choice of white or yellow rice, saag paneer, onion & carrot salad, and naan. The curry chicken isn’t as spicy or overpowering as other chicken curries I’ve had, but it does the job when you’re hungry! The saag paneer was delicious but my favorite was the onion & carrot salad that complimented the entire meal. The vegetable samosas are just as good! The tamarind and green sauces really keep your palate puckering for more… I was happy with my overall meal and glad that a decent Indian restaurant is just around the corner.
