Tonight me and my friend went there! The waiter started to comment about us being Spanish ! We speak Manderin and over heard him saying racial comments. The waiter refused to take our order and all because of skin color!!! I will never ever go to this racist place ever!!!

Nothing really special about this place, I’m not sure if they are using fake pictures or it’s not the same place. The pictures show the sticks being cooked in front of you, none of that happened. Not only was it not cooked in front of us, it was also cold and at that point I rather go to the stick stand on the corner. The service was terrible, the only thing that gives them 2 stars over 1 is their korean cold noodles which was half decent.

Beware of forceable 20% minimum tip towards a horrible service !! The worst restaurant I’ve ever seen. Food is just so so, but service? Oh my goodness. I know the common sense is that I shouldn’t expect any service from kabab restaurants like these and I did not. I am not a picky customer. But Have you ever seen a server who keeps showing you the arrogant face as if you owe him million dollars and who do not any serve during the entire lunchtime, charging you in your face and pointing at you saying“our tip is 20% minimum, at least 20%“ Considering his bad service and attitude, we decide not to give him any more than 10% tip. And then we left He came right after us and said its 15% minimum. And then I questioned him about why he asked for 20%tip in the beginning, he denied and said«I said between 15% to 20%» But me and my friends we three all heard he saying 20% minimum. Is he trying to play with us and think he can just ask for any amount of tip he wants? Then my friend tries to figure out what their policy is, he left and said in Chinese«we do not care about your pity money» . Excuse me? I don’t want to explain how ridiculous his behavior. Out of my angry but still kind mind, I really wish his boss can see this and clarify their restaurant policy. If you required 20%minimum, you should post it on the restaurant, otherwise, please charge tip based on your service. Also, pleas train your server, at least not let them being a boss in front of your customer.

Came here last year for the first time. This weekend, my boyfriend and went to flushing and got back to this place again. Not sure why the review is so low here but I have to admit that this is My favorite bbq place in the city! All dishes came in super large portions and every one tasted so good! Just love this place. One of the most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in the city!

Came here for dinner with my gf tonight and we were greatly disappointed with the service. It wasnt a particularly busy night but the servers seemed like they couldn’t be bothered with taking care of their customers. Strike 1: For bbq that is on the salty and spicey side you would think your customers will get thirsty right? We couldn’t get a server to refill our water glass all night. Strike 2: On top of that they didn’t give us a plate or bowl to put discarded shrimp shells or skewers. The only place we had to put them were on the table making a mess. Come on now, we are not cavemen. Strike 3: Our dinner for two came out to about $ 76 before tax. That’s very very pricey for their small portions and the quality and freshness isn’t even that great. We gave them $ 100 in cash to pay the bill but the server never came back with our change. She just put the money into the register and assumed the rest was their tip. For a server to assume they are getting more than 20% tip without asking the customer if they need change back is highly unprofessional and rude. I have no problems tipping more than 20% but service better be 5 star level… it was more like 1 star hence the 1 star Unilocal review. Servers need to understand customers tip based on the service and care they receive. If you provide us with horrible service you will receive a horrible tip.

The name of this place has changed. It’s no longer Feng Mao. And another important thing is that it’s not open 24⁄7 as described.

Left Spa Castle at midnight starving and not knowing what restaurant could possibly still be open. Driving down Main St in Flushing, I saw their«OPEN» sign and decided to check it put. Turns out they are open until 2 am so I was relieved and happy for that. Little did I know how amazing the food would be! The service was great too – very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We had the vegetables and mushrooms(shiitake & other mushrooms atop steamed bok choy with an amazing sauce), spicy chicken with peanuts(with delicious seasoning and black bean sauce), and fish and vegetables in vinegar(sauce was like a sweet n sour but tasted cleaner and lighter). We were thoroughly satisfied and it was VERY inexpensive. The waiter was sweet and helpful walking us through the menu. This is definitely a new favorite of ours – especially for after Spa Castle!

Service is horrible here. Waited 5 mins to be seated, gave us 5 bowls of cold rice, and presented a wrong dish. Worst of all, it took 15 mins for the food to come. Told the waiter that we wanted another bowl of rice but it never came. The two stars is for the mini spicy fish hotpot. You can opt to choose diy BBQ or BBQ&order. The skewers are a bit expensive.. 10 beef skewers for $ 15. Chicken wing $ 3. Not sure if I’m going to come back

What a terrible experience!!! Poor services and their food are not fresh. Ridiculous tips rules on their own. I’ll never ever go there again.

I might have a reason for everything, especially this one, I cannot stand this horrible service at this restaurant. By far, this happens to be the worse one. I’m not going to be lying, but the service here are disappointing me the most I told the waitress kindly«May I get some plates? Please.» I haven’t got any plates, I requested a lot of things and yet, I haven’t received them. I get so angry at one of the waitress who came up to me commanding us to give the tips when they aren’t even doing anything to deserve tips. The food also are so high price and the prices are unreasonable, 10 kabab sticks for $ 15 where the place on the street is ONLY $ 1 per stick. I’m not coming back here again.

Highly disappointed, me and my wife went there after reading some positive reviews on Unilocal, but it was such a big mistake. The skewers are nothing special like some of the reviews have stated, not even fresh to be honest. We ordered the lamb, beef and chicken;lamb was alright, beef was so so and salty on the outside, chicken was the least favorable, the meat tasted funny, it kinda sourish, I think it because the meat wasn’t that fresh and they tried to cover it up with spice. We also ordered the chicken wings which came out to be too dry. I seriously think the xing jiang food cart on Main offers a much better skewers. One other note about the restaurant is that the waitress is rude and unhelpful, because of the quality of the food and service we received, I decided to leave only 5 dollars of tip, as I was leaving, she actually chased me by the door and told me that they have a mandatory rule of 15% service fee, and asked me to pay for the difference. This is such a bullshit rule and I just laughed at her because I don’t want to make a scene. Overall, this place is not worthy of the positive reviews they been receiving and iI would not recommend to any of my friends and will not be going back there again myself, go at your own risk is all I can say.

So far best north side Chinese food in flushing main street area. The price is affordable and the dish size is huge plus they have BBQ with all different kinds of meet skewers. Lamb skewer is the best! Definitely recommend this place.

Good lunch deals priced at $ 5.99! They have a variety of lunch options including beef & broccoli, kung pao chicken, dumplings, etc. I’ve only ordered take out from here. I would love to come back and try the kebabs other reviewers are raving about.

A friend suggested this place in flushing. If she had not suggested it, I would not have tried this place myself. It’s a small place that used to be a little shopping center. It’s a korean restaurant, but to me it was more like a chinese restaurant. The menus have your usual chinese take-out type kind of food, with a few korean dishes. We went there specifically for the skewers. What I mean is like those street vendors that you see all over flushing, that sell lamb, beef, chicken, pork skewers for a dollar. Except in here, you cook it yourself. In the center of the tables, there is a small little well that when you order the skewers, the servers will put a shovel full of coal/woodchips into it, and you can cook your meats on there. The menu is on the wall next to the table, it’s a little hard to understand, since it’s full of chinglish. Fortunately, my friend and I can read and speak chinese, so that made it easier. It’s a little annoying because the way they sell the skewers are by 5 to 10, there aren’t many items that you can order 1 or 2 of. So make sure you really like the item before you order it. The meal comes with some korean side dishes, like bean sprout salad and pickles. The servers also come over with a can of spice mix that you can use as seasoning for the skewers. It is spicy but it’s pretty good. We didn’t really order anything else, so I don’t know how their other dishes are… but to be honest, I don’t think I will return again because I can get any of these skewers at almost any corner in flushing, and those vendors have more choices and the price is much cheaper.

I’m rating this four stars based on a two-part experience. The first experience is the dine-in experience. Some friends and I came here for dinner and were drawn in by the cook-it-yourself skewer experience. Personally, I wasn’t fond of it — mainly because the group I was with sucked at cooking skewers(myself included). And we only ordered skewers, that was our biggest mistake — wasn’t worth the money spent. For that, 3⁄5 stars. The second experience is based on ordering skewers and buns from the street window. Now THIS is my favorite part(aside from eating the delicious food). The skewers are cooked to perfection — juicy and not dry. The spices give it the extra«OOMPH!» that you’re looking for. The kimchi buns are my favorite buns of all time, goes well with my chicken skewers. For this experience I give it a 5⁄5 stars. Average total experience: 4⁄5 **At the time I started writing this review(about a month back) the skewers were only $ 1 while the rest of the stalls/carts in Flushing were $ 1.25. But now, this spot charges that extra quarter, too.(Boo, but not a big deal)

Horrible service overshadowed mediocre food. The service was slow and they didn’t get our order right. Won’t be coming back.

A total hidden unassuming gem with awesome food! I don’t say that often since my father was a cook. And you can order off menu! Which btw is hilarious due to botched translations.

By far a hidden gem in the middle of Flushing. I walked upon this place very hungry one sunday afternoon. I had the shredded pork with vegetables and rice. For $ 6.00. The plate was overflowing. There were peppers, ginger, spice. The meal was amazing. I needed that first cup of water to get me through it, after that it was wonderful. There was American music playing in the background. It was not very noisy inside. Very peaceful. The wait staff was very courteous and worked with me to tell me what was good and what to try. I don’t know what else to say about this place except that if I’m ever in Flushing again, this is where I will eat. Feng Mao’s actual menu is very diverse and thick. There isn’t anything on that menu that would not appeal to somebody. The layout is made for small parties and even larger parties over to the side. So please stop on by.

We happened across Feng Mao BBQ by chance, and we will definitely be returning! The food was very good, the quantity of food was fantastic and the cost was the best part. Our group consisted of four people; we had a plate of dumplings to share, an individual(large) entrée each, some complimentary appetizers and a complimentary soup each and the total was $ 30! The wait staff was equally delightful– we ate between the lunch and dinner services so it was quiet, but our waitor was nice and very efficient. Just off the 7 train at Flushing, it’s very easy to get too(especially if you live in Queens). Ultimately I anticipate my boyfriend and I becoming regulars; it’s officially been added to the list of ‘go-to date night/visiting friends’ restaurants.

Part of(newest store?) a Korean-Chinese(Korean ethnicity in China–«Chao Xun») mini-chain which now has at least three restaurants in Flushing. I think most people go to this place and the other ones for the skewers, but I had the house special tofu lunch special. It was quite good– a bit spicy but not overly so, and a ton of food. It seemed at first like I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but I ended up eating almost all of it(except when there was too much sauce left). Came with green peppers and some other ingredients which I don’t recall but were all good. This huge plate of food only set me back 6 dollars. It’s at the end of a long hallway from the Main Street entrance, which I didn’t expect so I must have looked a bit lost when I walked in. I also think I might have been the only non-regular there. The space is actually really large, with a few semi-private rooms for large groups, so I’m definitely looking forward to going back with more people. Seems like a nice way to escape from the hustle bustle from Main Street– there isn’t really a street view or anything, and it’s pretty quiet(but not overly sterile) in there.
