Love the pizza and the staff is great. They are always polite and willing to whatever it takes to make your dinning experience great.

A nice variety of Italian dishes. I’ve never been disappointed by the service or quality/quantity of the numerous meals I’ve ordered. Since retiring in Floyd from Maryland a little over a month ago I would rank this place up there with Little Italy’s best.

Delicious! Hidden gem in this quaint mountain town. Everything on the menu and neighboring tables looked divine. We shared the calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and Rigatoni ala Devin at the server’s recommendation and were none short of pleased. It was fantastic! Even the bread and oil– amazing. Would definitely come back

I would like to first start by saying I love this place and we are regulars that eat here possibly 3 or 4 times a month. I’ve never once had a bad meal here food is on point. Just like every business they sometimes experience growing pains and this owner has recently acquired the building that was beside them and opened a ice cream place that is part of the restaurant which makes no sense. I look forward to the day that both sides are the restaurant match in color and decoration. That’ll take care of the lack of good seating and keep continuity in the restaurant. Till then we’ll just go for the good food and friendly staff not décor.

MG’s bistro has a nice variety on their menu. We popped in waaaayyyy early for dinner(i.e. 5:30PM, at least that’s early for us) and the place was packed. No specials were advertised b/c «the owner hadn’t arrived yet and he will have the specials.» I had a glass of a local VA wine, whose name escapes me as I write this – not bad. For mains, it was the old stand-by, spaghetti and meatballs for me. Meatballs were beef only, no pork or sausage that you’ll find in traditional Italian restos. The sauce was OK, the two big meatballs were OK Co-pilot ordered the small shrimp salad. All in all, our dining experience was so-so: the food lacked the real punchy, mouth-watering flavor you want to have when you’re eating all the fresh possibilities of traditional Italian fare. Service was a bit odd, though friendly: server walked up and asked what we wanted, w/out offering to go over the specials(after I asked if there were any specials, when then told us the«owner had not yet arrived and would be bringing the specials with him»), of if we had any questions about the menu.

I’d give this place 5 stars if they had adequate seating(without having to use the fluorescent lit ice cream parlour seating adjacent). Food was hands down awesome. Our waitress was new, inexperienced, but sweet and an receptive to suggestion. It’s the only place to eat in Floyd on a Monday. I’d go back, any day.

Their pizza is really good. Their food however is not very good at all. I ordered take out of baked ziti and spaghetti and meatballs. First I was surprised that the baked ziti container was only filled about ¼ — ½ way filled. It looked more like I was given someone’s leftovers. Secondly, It was just ziti and sauce and a little bit of parmesan cheese. It wasn’t «baked» at all. Thirdly, the meatballs are bread balls. Just yuck.

Love coming here. The food is always spot on, from the salads, sandwiches, pastas and pizzas, you can’t go wrong. The staff is always friendly and attentive. One of our go to spots, and we live 30 minutes away.

Really great food. If you’re in Floyd virginia this is the only restaurant that is actually owned and operated by a chef. If you’re hungry and need to have really good Italian meal look no further.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place from several friends but my experience wasn’t the best. The food was ok at best, it really lacked the flavor that I was looking for. On a side note, the hostess was not very friendly, she seemed overwhelmed and almost appalled that I told her there were 7 of us dining that night. She looked like she wanted to turn us away because she kept looking at the clock before she would seat us.(Very unprofessional!!) The desserts were the best part of the meal. I had limoncello layer cake, my uncle had cappuccino gelato and my brother had mango Italian ice. My uncle even said the dessert was better than the meal when we’re closing our bill. Try it if you want, it could have just been an off night, but overall I was not impressed!

The salmone a la jenny is one of my favorite dishes at any restaurant. The salmon is always perfectly prepared and the balsamic glaze is delicious. We drove approximately 80 miles today just to eat lunch and I would happily do it again.

Visited on a Friday night around 5:30. It was not too crowded at this time so we were able to get a table without a wait. We had great service! For an entrée I ordered the chicken Parmesan and my son ordered a piece of sausage pizza. The chicken on the chicken Parmesan was great and very moist and tasty! The noodle were cooked perfect however I wish there sauce was just a little bit thicker. It was good though. My sons pizza was very good as well. I love the unlimited bread it was delicious! Will definitely be back!

My boyfriend got a calzone with cheese still frozen in the middle. I got the worst pasta ever with uncooked mushrooms. They recooked a calzone and offered us a salad, but that will not make us come back there

I visit Floyd once a year and have eaten at Mickey G’s a few times. This week, I went there twice. For lunch on Thursday we went and the food was very good and the service(waitress, Chezzie?) was excellent. On Mondays, all other restaurants in Floyd are closed so we went there again tonight for dinner. Here is a list of what went wrong, as far as I can remember– The waiter(apparently new and in training, though this should never be a customer’s problem unless they are informed and compensated to participate in the training)-spilled a tray of water down one of our backs, never so much as acknowledging it nor did he bring this guest anything to dry herself off with until we asked for something. While taking our orders the waiter appeared distracted by glancing over at other tables and not listening to us. When the meals came out, only two of the four of us were served. About 10 minutes later, one of the other four(myself) received her meal, a pizza which I had ordered without onion or peppers and it had onions and peppers on it. After I sent the pizza back, we continued to wait for the fourth meal. It was finally delivered after the first two of our group had finished their meals. This meal was the salmon, it was served burned, yet raw. The diner picked the meal apart and tried to eat what she could of the raw salmon, but the waiter NEVER checked in on this and had no idea that it was unsatisfactory. I still had not gotten the pizza I ordered. I asked to speak to a manager and was informed that there was no manager on site. I asked who was in charged and informed that there was no one in charge. After telling the girl answering the phones about the problems, they offered to take the salmon off the bill. Because we were ready to leave and everyone else had eaten, I asked them to cancel the pizza and take it off the bill as well. The girl insisted that my pizza was ready(it had been about 25 minutes since I had sent the pizza with the wrong toppings back) so I agreed to take the pizza to go. Once we had paid and gotten out to the parking lot, I opened the pizza box and the pizza in the box was in fact the same one I had sent back except with the onions and peppers taken mostly off, though some remained. We will not return. Dinning at Mickie G’s made meal time stressful and unpleasant and I never got to eat.

Don’t be fooled by the location, Mickey G’s is a quality restaurant. I’m from out of town but we visit family frequently around Floyd and always make sure we stop by at least once in our trip! It was beautiful out so we got to sit out on the patio. If you go during peak hours expect a wait because the restaurant is not large by any means. We were seated and served promptly. Started off with the prawn cocktail for an appetizer. Never hesitate ordering fish off their special menu it has never let us down… always SO fresh! I had the Salmon entrée. If you love salmon… order this! The quality was amazing. The waitress also told us almost all produce they had was local. My fiancé had the steak Italian sandwich, he’s not picky but I stole a bite and the meat was super tender and you could tell the bread was made in house. Another guest ordered the vodka pasta and loved it, big portion too. The prices are super reasonable. If you’re passing through Floyd looking for a bite to eat Mickey G’s has something to please most everyone. Oh and if I haven’t sold you yet on how delicious this place is we also got a large pizza to go!

Thanks, Unilocal, for helping us find this restaurant. We had great food for a great price. Tasty pizza. Stromboli was full of meat and cheese, and very large. I hate we were just passing through town. We would definitely visit again.

An amazing place with a special atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly even with them constantly on the move. The food is beyond anything you would find in a big city restaurant. We try to get something new every time we are in Floyd.

From time to time we are delighted with a small town restaurant. Mickey G’s in Floyd, Va is one of those unexpected delightful places. The dishes we had were very well prepared, generous in size and flavorful. In addition all were an amazing value. Service was pleasant, staff was knowlegeable and accommodating. Do save room for desert as they were excellent and priced about half what we’d pay at home with much higher quality here. I won’t bother you with the details of the dishes we had. All I’ll say is that if you find yourself anywhere near Floyd VA at mealtime it will be worth your while to dine here!

Food is good, plenty of specials. Reservation not observed. Slow service. Small place and quite popular. Tables quite small. Just need to rethink how they do business seating. Do enjoy the food just hard too with table being so crowded.
