Pretty good scene. Food was good and enough televisions to watch all your teams. Good service. Great sports bar overall.

We went here on a whim tonight and was pleasantly surprised by Tom Z’s. I ordered a Flint style coney and it was delicious. Really good seasoned sauce, and they use Koegel’s hot dogs. Also tried the french fries with gravy(fries were prefectly crispy and delicious) and a chocolate shake(smooth and thick). It looked like they had a lot of desserts available. Will have to try some when I go back. Also, if you show your student I.D., you get 5% off your bill(bill has to be over 5 bucks). I would definitely go back. Inside is very clean, well lit. The waitresses are also very nice. Hours: Sunday through Wednesday are 6am to 10pm Thursday through Saturday open 24 hours.

I’m really shocked(again) to find that I’m the first to review Tom Z’s. My dad started working in downtown Flint last year and walked here frequently from his office for lunch. Then he and I would go for dinner sometimes. I love their Flint-style cony islands. The meat is perfectly seasoned, and they use Kogel’s Viennas hot dogs. The shakes are so thick that you have to use a spoon rather than a straw, and they are the creamiest shakes I’ve ever had. The fries are crispy and perfectly fried. I’ve never had stale fries there. I also enjoy the cheese burgers. The meat is fresh and the burgers are greasy — just how I like it. Tom Z’s is your basic diner, but after the fire that caused them to remodel, the atmosphere is a lot less«greasy spoon.» It’s open 24 hours(I think), and so you can always get your chocolate shake fix. If you’re in Flint, go to Tom Z’s. I promise it’s not scary.
