Holy smokes! This place is bangin’! I had the Jumpalaya spice level #4. Now let me tell you… it was HOT(which I like, you might not wanna go that hot), but the flavors were on point! I also had the Shrimp Poboy, the flavors and texture couldn’t be anymore perfect. The best I ever had and they were not stingy with shrimp. The cook knows how to do it right! Bravo!

This place has amazing food and excellent customer service! We went there for lunch and the shrimp po-boy, fried okra, and shrimp cheese grits were perfectly cooked and delicious. My son had chicken tenders and fries and he loved those too. For dessert the beignets were perfectly served fresh and hot and melted in your mouth! Best dessert I’ve had in a long time. The owner Pam was extremely friendly and even brought me samples of her delicious red beans and rice and collard greens to try! We will definitely return many more times! If you’re looking for delicious food in a casual and comfortable environment where the staff treats you like family this is the place!

Ate here for the first time today. The owner was extremely friendly and the food was delicious. The shrimp and grits were the best I’ve ever had. My husband loved his shrimp po boy. We also ordered beignets and loved them as well. We can’t wait to go back!

The food was so good. I had the shrimp po boy and my husband had the beef n’ debris po boy. That beef n’ debris was incredible! I could eat it on rice just by itself. The portion sizes are very generous and the owner is a wonderful lady. When we went, the service was slow, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re on a tight schedule. If they speed the service up I could bump them to 5 stars.

I love this spot. It’s worth the backtrack off 17. Staff is super friendly and awesome to chat with. Food was great. I can’t recall what I had, I asked the girl behind the counter to give me her favorite thing to eat, you can’t go wrong. I brought my nephews, who are picky eaters. They brought out a hamburger and fries on the house when they didn’t eat what I ordered for them. The strawberry shortcake pudding was on point, holy shit! It was so good.

Amazing! I just moved down here from Ohio and I wanted a great food experience and I got that at Mackeys. The shrimp po boy was cooked to perfection, The Mac and cheese was amazing, and those hot crispy French fries are to die for. No meal should go with the famous Mackeys sauce(dip your fries in it yum!!!). The owner himself makes rounds to see how you like your food and it just feels like I was at home. For great food I definitely recommend this place.

My only regret is that we waited so long to try this hidden gem! The owners were quick to greet us and more than happy to provide suggestions and explanations to our questions. The food was beyond incredible! I tried the fish fry with a substitution of cheese grits. The fish was some of the best I have ever eaten. The batter was well seasoned and just the right proportion to the delicious fish. The cheese grits were simply perfect. We ended our meals with an order of banana fosters pudding that we ended up taking home. When we enjoyed it the next day the only way I could describe it is heaven in a bowl. It was AMAZING. It was like banana pudding on steroids thanks to the rich and creamy caramel sauce. The whole family agreed we will definitely be making Mackey’s a regular weekend stop for us!

Decided to give his spot a try after seeing it highlighted in a recent Unilocal email. Boy am I glad we did. Being fans of food from New Orleans, and having it so close to home made this even better. The setting is small and the decorations are great for the space. The owners are out and about greeting customers and making sure everything is just right. We asked for and received great recommendations for our first visit. My husband & I both had the Shrimp Po Boy — oh my — perfectly cooked, crispy shrimp on a hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato, and sauce. Bread was a tad thick for my tastes, but the shrimp more than made up for that. So so good. We had a side of fried okra which was crispy and had a wonderful breading with a touch of spice. Hubby also had a side of gumbo, with a heat level of 2(you can choose between 1 and 4). Great tasting with sausage, shrimp, and fresh veggies. Just the right amount of heat for us. We ended our meal with an order of beignets — of course! Hot and fresh and covered in powdered sugar. Served with a side of either chocolate, caramel, or raspberry sauce(we choose raspberry & caramel — neither were needed!). Reminded us of visits to New Orleans. Now we know where to go when we get a craving for great Cajun food.

Great fish SAMMICH, a must try. Kick it up a notch with some extra heat. Also had the chicken and sausage gumbo it was good. I will definitely be back to this gem every time I make it into town. Make sure to save room for some authentic new Orleans deserts. Mackey’s is an awesome spot with a great inviting atmosphere. I will be back for sure

A delightful surprise in Fleming Island. I have driven past this place so many times and when I looked it up and found out it serves Cajun food, I was there that day. The gumbo was GREAT! The jambalaya was ok, I could taste the tomato paste in it. I also had the shrimp po’boy wrap. Yes I know it should come in a sub bun but I’m watching my carbs. Let me tell you the shrimp po’boy wrap was delicious! I will be back to sample other dishes that Ms. Mackie is cooking up. It’s a great place. Oh almost forgot, I had a few beignets and they were hot and soft and mmm mmm good.

I don’t even know where to begin with how happy we are to discover this place. Creole! In Fleming Island! Warm welcome by the sweetest owners ever. Felt like family. The food was amazing! Gumbo — perfection. Jambalaya was delicious. You choose your heat when you order. It gets HOT. FAST. We loved the spicy greens & the okra was the best I’ve ever had. The kids loved the fish & chips and chicken fingers. The perfect ending … BEIGNETS!!! In Fleming island! Café du Monde better watch out. We will be back and soon. So happy to have a non-chain in Fleming that goes so far above and beyond. See y’all soon. Do yourself a favor — go see Brian & Brandy at MACKEY’S MUNCHIES.

Arrived right when they opened their doors. Ordered the shrimp po boy with everything on it, and red beans and rice which is the special on Monday. My wife ordered jambablaya. The shrimp po boy was overloaded with shrimp and cooked perfectly. The bread was soft and tasty. The red beans and rice were super hot fresh out of the pot. Some Louisiana on top and good to go. My wife had the jambablaya with tomato and okra. It was really good as well. Overall we will Deffinitely return here. The owners came around a few times inquiring about our meal. SUPPORTLOCALBUSINESSES!!! Worth the drive out to fleming island for this food. P. S. Tuesdays they have beignets!

I grew up on Fleming Island and for years and years there have been nothing but chain restaurant options. Lately a handful of locally owned places have popped up and during my recent time back on FI, I was determined to try as many as possible. A few people mentioned Mackey’s Munchies to me and after seeing the glowing reviews on here and on Facebook, I had to check them out. A couple of friends and I stopped in for dinner on a recent Monday night. The location itself is on the front side of the shopping center directly across from Fleming Island High School(facing the school, apparently google maps tried to send my friend to the back of the shopping center). They have a couple tables outside and quite a few inside. They have daily specials(red beans and rice, fried chicken, etc) as well as an extensive every day menu. The owners and staff were beyond friendly. While we were debating what to order both of the owners and the guy working the register asked if we had questions, needed recommendations, etc. I went with the shrimp po’boy and my friends ordered the beef po’boy(after a warning that it was their«put you to sleep» sandwich) and the red beans and rice special. While we were waiting for our food we noticed that almost everyone who walked in the door seemed to be a regular. We all really enjoyed our food(that Mack sauce is fantastic!) and the atmosphere as well. Yes, their menu is full of sandwiches but this food is on another level from what this area generally offers.
