So with the closing of many diners over the past couple of years on Route 12; Flipside is still here, and still makes consistently enjoyable food — far better than the newer diner addition in Rindge. I can’t speak for non-breakfast items, but generally I am never disappointed.(Pro tip: You can call in breakfast for take out also, and it’s quick as a whip!) They offer an ice cream window during summer hours that is open until 9:00pm and offers Annabelle’s ice cream which is awesome in a little town like Fitzwilliam! A couple of negatives: Breakfast ends way too early here, especially on the weekends. It’s a diner, why stop breakfast so early? I have seen personally many people come and leave when told breakfast is over. You may want to call first to save the trip. 99% of the staff are awesome here, had a short haired girl a few times that just seemed belligerently rude to myself and others, seemed very out of place at a restaurant that typically caters very nicely to their customers. Would get 5 stars if breakfast was served all day.

We live in the same town as The Flip Side but had never been. We were looking for someplace close as we were in a little bit of a time issue. We went in not knowing what to expect, I hadn’t looked on Unilocal. We just got home from a weekend in the White Mountains so I have something to compare it too. I ordered the haddock nuggets and my wife ordered a chicken wrap. The Nuggets were on the daily special menu for $ 9.95, my wife’s sandwich was $ 8.95. Just gotta say, we should’ve been going here all along. My plate had 8, slightly larger than golf ball sized nuggets and a decent serving of fries. My wife’s sandwich was huge! She ordered hers with onion rings that appeared to be made there, very flavorful. I had ordered fish and chips up in North Woodstock, I got half the portion of fish for $ 4 more. IF there was a down side it would be the price of a glass of soda at $ 2.50 each, but every restaurant it seems is this way. The glass was quite large and I’m assuming there were free refills although we didn’t need it. Our waitress was very pleasant with us, sorry I didn’t catch her name. I see some reviews complained about the wait time, we were in and out in under an hour and we got there at noon. We will definitely be back, sooner rather than later!

Hello, I was sitting here wanting to write a review about this restaurant and took a moment to read what others had to say previously. A former restaurateur myself… I can tell you firstly that it is not easy to keep a place of business as clean as Jayne does. It is spit shine all the time. For those of you who may have found food on the floor. Perhaps those who put it there should have bent over and picked it up. I find that more and more it is very easy to SLAM people via Unilocal simply because you don’t have to look someone in the eye and just give them a heads up that someone may have had no table manners. That is certainly not the fault of the owner, that is the fault of poor upbringing. I, for one, have been to this restaurant several times. I enjoy the food. It is always very well prepared and consistent. Where else can you get beautiful white haddock with two sides for 9.95? The ice cream flavors are plentiful. I have never had ice crystals in my dish. I would never be afraid to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

At 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon we walked over after driving by and always seeing the parking lot full. We were warmly greeted with an atmosphere humming along well enough for us to hear our own conversation but not get distracted by others. The menu for lunch was long enough for two pages of their standard menu and an additional hand written menu of specials. We decide on the Flip burger and Blue burger with various options for a side with our burgers. We each chose side salads. The wait was longer than we had hoped and l the only drawback from our meal. Maybe about 20mins for our two burgers and side salads. However, when the food did come out it did not disappoint. Both burgers were cooked medium as requested, thick, well covered but not overloaded with toppings, with just a little juice dripping onto the place. The side salad was more than we had expected with large pieces of freshly cut vegetables. One critique would be the large slices of red onion both on the burgers and salads; I am a big fan but others may not be. Blue burger was about $ 8.95 and the Flip burger about $ 7.50. Our total after tip was $ 20 and some change. We will definitely go back and we overheard another patron say that she would be coming back the next day; her comment sums it all up!

Terrible place! Beware! Terrible service! This restaurant shouldn’t be in business with how they treat non-local patrons. Pilgrim pines camp is very close to this restaurant. I urge all people visiting and looking for a restaurant to steer clear of this place. My children and I arrived here to have breakfast/lunch. We were told we couldn’t have lunch because they were extending breakfast. We waited for an hour for our meal. They served local patrons fast as they knew their names. The waitress was extremely rude to us and yelled from across the room at us. She should be fired for the treatment we received. The pricing for the meals was expensive for a little joint. I am so flabbergasted that any business would treat patrons like this. I felt like I was in Mayberry at this little hole in the wall. Do not go there!

I’ll be honest, I did not end up actually trying the food here because the place was so disgustingly dirty that I packed up my kids and left the restaurant after getting our drinks(I paid for them of course). I have never left a restaurant due to the cleanliness of the establishment. The carpet was brown and sticky with food all over it. The tile area under the breakfast bar was gray with grime. The tables had a wood border around them that was so sticky that you had to put your place mat over it so your arms didn’t stick to it. I tried using a baby wipe to make it not sticky, and the wipe stuck to it. The booths were cracked and covered with tape and last but not least, there was a vent under our table caked with years of rotting food. I am by no means a germaphobe and I am not stuck up about going to local diner type places but if the front of the restaurant was that nasty, can you imagine the kitchen? This restaurant should be out of business.

We stopped at the Flip Side Grill today hoping for breakfast as i’d heard good things. At 11;42AM, I worried that«the rules» would put us too late for breakfast. Yup. As the four of us waited briefly, the woman behind the counter(directly beside us) yelled to the waitress about to seat us «MAKESURETHEYKNOWIT’S LUNCH». The waitress told us «it’s lunch». We got it and I immediately thought of Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces. The rationale is apparently that Lunch menu items deliver a higher margin than breakfast as there is no logistical/culinary reason to prohibit breakfast after 11AM despite the number of patrons wanting it on a holiday weekend. No complaints, we went with the flow. Anyhow… Seating apparently coincided exactly with cut-over from breakfast to lunch and shift change for wait staff. The restaurant was packed. A number of «regulars», some visited personally and chatted up by the«TELLTHEMITSLUNCH» lady. Our friendly, polite, very busy waitress was dealing with half the restaurant. Drinks delivered promptly. Excellent coffee. We ordered: Grilled cheese with bacon, BLT, half grilled cheese with ham and bacon(comment was ham was tasty but tasted exactly like packaged ham at Walmart) and a half pastrami. Sandwiches were tasty, generous and served on very nice local breads. Onion rings were good and seemed homemade, sweet potato fries average, salad was ok. Lunch for 4 was $ 36.00 with soft drinks. Fair pricing. 45 minutes from order to delivery. A number of tables seated after us were served before us. We did not mention it or complain, just observed. Summary: Food was OK, service slow but friendly. The meal not worth the wait. 40 minutes after ordering we discussed paying for sodas/coffee and leaving. Recommendation: Be a regular and get there early. Avoid 11:42 arrival.

I must have driven past this place a bunch of times on the trip from Boston to Keene, but this was the first time I ever bothered to stop in. Since we usually drive up to NH on Fridays after work, we are usually in need of somewhere to stop for dinner or a bite to eat. Invariably and begrudgingly, we end up stopping at a fast food joint somewhere outside Boston. This time we refused to do that and figured that surely there must be a diner or local eatery somewhere on the drive through all those small towns. Luckily, we spotted this place and know where to stop from now on. The Ambiance: Local diner type place. Slight charm from the quaintness but not cute by any means. The servers were very friendly without being annoying. The Food: My wife and I both ordered seafood type dishes and split them, which might be a bit odd since we were a couple of hours from the coast. We shared a fish sandwich and the lobster croissant. The fish sandwich was very good. The fish itself tasted fresh and it was fried perfectly. The guy next to me got the fish and chips and I was kicking myself for not having followed his example. The real surprise was the lobster croissant. BESTLOBSTERROLL I’ve had in years. I had almost given up on them. And I have eaten them up and down the coast of New England. First of all, the lobster itself was seasoned and mixed with a perfect balance of mayo. Not too dry, not to wet, not too bland. The real stroke of genius was replacing the usual tasteless New England-style hot dog bun with a croissant. Anyone who has ever eaten boiled lobster knows that the butter is pretty much the best part. Putting the lobster on a buttery, rich croissant worked to perfection. Everything else that we saw come out of the kitchen looked very good too. They also have a huge ice-cream list, but we were too stuffed and rushed to partake. The Price: Overall I think the value of this food was very reasonable. I believe the lobster roll(which came with fries and a pickle) was around 13 dollars. Compare that with some of the places on the coast that charge you closer to 20 and you can see that this isn’t bad at all. The sandwiches vary between 5 – 10 dollars and also include a side and pickle. Great deal.

Flip Side could be my home away from home. Great basic food, friendly, efficient service and terrific pie and ice cream for dessert. We were in town for the weekend and came here twice.

We had previously had some good eats here, so decided to lunch here today after an hour car ride. When we arrived at 12 noon, they told us breakfast was extended and no lunch was available, we left. I was annoyed, we had planned on lunching here for a few days and my kids were disappointed, they did not want another breakfast, they wanted lunch, and so did I.

Somewhere I read a rave review about the reubens here so I dropped in to try one. It was huge with tons of meat. Unfortunately, I could not taste the meat. Even the kraut and dressing seemed bland, so the rye bread was the dominant flavor. It was thick and toasted rather than grilled. Not a big deal except it was quite hard and my mouth was really sore after dealing with it. I sat at the counter overlooking the kitchen. I could see a raft of staff milling around in there looking bored while customers waited to be seated. A steady stream of huge meals piled with French fries emerged from the kitchen. Indeed, the manu looked like, «What would you like with your French fries?» This place reminded me of many collegetown restaurants and Keene State is just up the road. By that I mean large quantities of bland food and carbs at low prices. A great place to take the football team after the game but probably not a good choice when you leave the kids at home. BTW, the Jaffrey’s Country Kitchen just a few miles away has the best reubens I have ever tasted. They are a lot smaller but a lot better. That place is in the little shopping center on 202 just north of 124.

Great upscale diner-style meals here. I have only been there for lunch, but I haven’t found anything I haven’t liked. Open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week during fall, winter & spring, open for dinner several days a week during the summer.
