My cell service on Fire Island was not the greatest, so I did not have a chance to check out the Unilocal reviews for this place before my friend and I decided to pop in here for a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon. I am surprised the reviews are so overwhelmingly positive, because our experience was very underwhelming. We opted for table service so we could sit out on the patio. Our server was slow to bring water, slow to take our order, slow to bring our food, and slow to present our check. I know it’s summer and I know it’s the beach and I know I was getting away from the hustle-and-bustle of the city… but hurry up already because I want to get back to laying out on the beach! I thought our pizza was just ok also, nothing to write home about. Be forewarned this place is cash only. They have an ATM inside, but the ATM fee is $ 4(plus whatever your own bank charges you to use a foreign ATM).

Been here hundreds of times over many years always had good service and great food but today the food was awful and the service terrible. First the waitress let us sit at s dirty table, she took our order and still didn’t clean it, we cleaned it ourselves she then brought me my food first so we didn’t eat together, we had to wait for silverware after the food sat on our table, we had to ask for bread and got it when the pasta was half eaten but she dropped the check quickly and picked it and her tip up faster than it took for the bread to come The portion of the pasta looked smaller, the pizza tasted funny like the dough was left out to long and the bread for my sandwich tasted stale or freezer burned Next weekend we break our tradition of dinner here and back to ocean breeze or sand castle

Try the sausage bread — seriously delicious. We took some to-go. It made a perfect workday dinner with a side of sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic and red pepper flakes.

The BEST regular and garlic knot slices you can get anywhere!!! We look forward to this place anytime we go to Cherry Grove. Pricey of course, but it’s worth it. They have gluten free options. Stay away from their chicken parm slice. Not stellar. Cheeseburger, pepperoni, pinwheels all very good.

Delicious fresh pizza available with a design your own menu of topping options. Whenever I’m in the neighborhood, I drop by here for a fresh hot slice. Favorite full meal is their Baked Tuesdays presented in season… Any baked dish(eggplant parmesan for me, please) comes along with a chilly fresh crispy salad, a beverage(unsweetened ice tea, please) and a chip for a free ice cream dessert from a nearby establishment. If you are in Cherry Grove on a Tuesday, you will want to take advantage of this deal for lunch or dinner.

All I have to say is What is up with this pizza. I am not a fan of pizza, I eat it once in a blue moon if I am really desperate or drunk late at night in Penn Station. SIGHHH I saw someone eating a slice with garlic knots taking the place of what would normally be a crust. WTFISTHAT I said to myself. Being an advent garlic lover I knew that this was a morsel that must lay upon my taste buds. So my husband fetches a slice and behold, the pizza itself was a lovely ratio of dough sauce and cheese. and then alas. the crust awaits your cow like tongue and doughy morsels of garlicy doo doo fill your mouth. LOL I am having a blast writing this review right now. Anyway, I went back and ordered the same slice a week later but with mushrooms on it and they were definitely canned mushrooms. SHOULDA used fresh ones but whatever My hubs being the little critter he is ordered the bacon cheeseburger pizza which was SERIOUS. Too heavy for me to eat the whole thing but I had one bite and I was like wow that is really delicious and creative! Since eating this slice of pizza with the garlic knots there is a lingering virus inside of me that can only be cured by the sweet warm melty in your mouthy carbohydratey-filled garlic knot and ny style cheese pizza that this place serves. Oh and friendly service. :)

wait a minute… OK, I know we are on Fire Island and that everything has to be ferried over from the so called main land, it’s a seasonal thing, etc. etc. But… People… $ 7.00 for a corona on a average afternoon. $ 2:50 for a small bottle of water, no tab-water was offered? $ 30.00 for a soggy, 40min wait pie(pizza) Hello… Sorry, but we(6 of us) thought this was an awful experience and we will never be back again. Great service and big portions for the price. The breakfast pizza was creative and good. Also enjoyed the garlic cheese bread and meatball sub.

We stopped here after getting off the ferry. Compared to the costs of everything else on the island this place is EXTREMELY affordable. That staff was very friendly and the food came out fast and piping hot. The Chicken Parmesan sandwich was huge. They used plenty of sauce which I like and the chicken was cooked to a perfect crisp and tasted very fresh. There is plenty of ample sitting outside to people watch along the main walkway.

I have a share in the Pines and have everything i need there… except Cherry Grove Pizza! Their gluten free pizza is fantastic. The staff is great. Totally worth the trip!

All I’ve gotta say is, the chicken parm slice rules.(It’s also fantastically filling, so pace yourself or risk a stomach ache!)

Cherry P, I love you! Whenever I’m hungover and/or burnt out from being at the beach all day, you’re there to fill my tummy! Why can’t I take you with me to the city? It’s not fair.

Its pretty damn good. I actually ate there two times in a four day stay. First time we ordered the whole pie which we scarffed down. the dough was great as was the cheese and sauce. Service was fine save the lack of refills on the water. 2nd time we went for slices. 2 slices: $ 7.50 which is a little high but to be expected on the isle. I would recommend and go again. Its quick, cheap(er) and delicious and it was right under the hotel.

Why is it that even a «not-so-great-by-NY-standards» pizza place beats the best Chicago pizza by miles? Why can’t we get this stuff in Chicago? Probably because Chicagoans do not know how to make«real» pizza?(Yes, I am a deep dish and Chicago pizza hater). ** The cheese pizza was the best I’ve had in a long time. I was so satisfied after eating the pizza, I did not even crave the hot guy standing 6ft away from me in a skimpy speedo. And that’s saying A LOT! ** Let the flaming begin.

In some ways this place is a little hole! As Billy A mentioned, it’s located underneath the Ice Palace, a long running & well know Cherry Grove dance club(why is there no Unilocal listing for the Ice Palace???) But even though it is not a fancy establishment, in recent years it has been the only place to get a reasonably priced meal in Cherry Grove! By mainland standards the pizza is a little pricey, but it is a good as or better than any pizzeria I’ve eaten at on the mainland. But then there is their chicken ptarmigan!!! One friend of mine from NY City actually will make a trip out to Fire Island simply because he got the urge to have a chicken parm at the Grove Pizza. This past summer I had chicken parm at a high priced restaurant near Westborough, MA. All I could think was how the Grove Pizza’s version was cheaper and better tasting!

I was not expecting much from this beachy pizzeria tucked away under the Ice Palace. I was wholly blown away by their white pizza(the ultimate beach-side pizza style) and impressed with their inventive«roni”/cheese sliced stromboli thingies called«pinwheels.» The prices are decent, especially considering what they could charge here. They deliver in Cherry Grove, too(pretty funny — it’s less than a mile long). Not sure about to the Pines. I want a Cherry Grove Pizzeria T-shirt!
