The first thing I did was ask for a sample of a flavor. Immediately the young man declined. Sorry we don’t give out samples we have to keep the line moving. You can order whatever flavor you want if you don’t like it I’ll give you something else. I wanted to try several flavor to get a broad overview of their type and quality. Nope. So my review is based on the peach ice cream. Is it fresh peach, I asked? It’s peach ice cream with pieces of peach in it. My assessment: they use artificial flavor and color with inclusion of over processed fruit purée. Not offensive, not not fresh. Texture: a little icy, but solid and reasonably rich. I’m sure they do what they have done for years, but have hastened the process by using mass manufactured ingredients. All in all not as satisfying as I had hoped. I will not embarrass myself or them by returning it.

Cute little country store feel. We did not try the chocolates but the ice cream is average at best. They don’t let you sample anything so I went with a classic flavor and it had zero flavor. The ingredient list is quite long. We like jeni’s so we are a little spoiled.

The ice cream is good enough to make this a worthwhile stop if you’re on I 75. But, the classic atmosphere of the shop makes this a destination stop.

Even though I currently live in Columbus, I make it a point to swing by Dietsch’s whenever I drive through Findlay for one reason: their dark chocolate pretzels! At $ 16-ish per pound, they cost more per pound than other such delicacies like live lobster and beef tenderloin at the supermarket… but they’re still worth it. They’re that good! Although I’m not really a fan of caramel, my wife tells me that Dietsch’s caramel is also one of the best she’s ever had in the U.S. So that’s pretty awesome. They also sell ice cream here, and they’re good too. Not as good as Graeter’s though.

Love the buckeye and the peppermint ice cream. What’s the deal with no samples though? There were a couple types of ice cream that sounded good but I wanted to sample them before choosing them. This is the only ice cream place I have been to that doesn’t give out samples. Great sugar free candy and chocolate covered pretzels

Awesome candy, awesome peeps, TAKETHETOUR!!! I had a blast. Everyone was so nice. I got a total tour of the factory including free samples!!! Oh yes! Mmmmmmmmm. They are amazing. I was on tour with THETOYSHOPPE playing next door at the new Marathon Theatre and they were so sweet to all of us. Hope we comeback every year!

Dietsch’s is a beloved Findlay institution and I love introducing my out of town to the best ice cream and chocolate covered pretzels in Ohio. They all walk away loving Dietsch’s and becoming obsessed. My favorite, go-to ice cream is definitely the Buckeye and it’s amazing as a milkshake, too. Some of my favorite seasonal flavors are pumpkin and salted caramel cashew in the fall and lemon and blueberry in the summer. Basically, you can’t go wrong because it’s all so darn good!

If you’ve never been to Findlay before PLEASE don’t drive through without stopping for a cone at Dietsch’s. If you are remotely familiar with Findlay this review is unnecessary to you. You already know what you have! My favorite is lemon custard. Want something unique? Try a Boston Cooler w lemon custard ice cream. Trust me. The best of the candy are the infamous chocolate covered pretzels. Take a bag home. People will like you more. Again, just trust me on this.

I have driven an hour and a half from Michigan to get this ice-cream. It’s so addictive that I dream about it. I don’t know what it is about this establishment. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s been around since 1938. Maybe it’s the expensive boxed candy that they make. My favorite is the white chocolate cookies and cream. Maybe it’s the plenteous free parking and seating or the fact that they stay open until 9pm. Nope, it’s none of those things. It’s the ice-cream! The customers range from local kids to other addicts who drive a hundred miles to buy gallons to take back home. There’s no substitute for homemade ice-cream and this place is tops. It’s thick and creamy but not too rich. Every flavor that I’ve tried is good. I love the decadent cookie dough, the divine strawberry cheesecake and my favorite, cookies and cream. The only exception to their perfection is the praline cookies and cream. It’s way too sweet for my taste. Three huge scoops are under $ 5 so the price is right. The only downside is they don’t have samples. But I guarantee you’ll love any flavor you try.

Wonderful ice cream and candy. I haven’t lived in Findlay for 11 years but every time I come back home I have to stop. Not to just get ice cream but my husband loves the milk cherry cream filled candies. Living in Cincinnati now I have gotten all my coworkers addicted to chocolate covered pretzels and salted caramels. So I have to bring them back to Cincinnati to spoil my coworkers.

A Findlay Tradition to say the least… Great Ice cream. wonderful flavors and very reasonable prices. Their chocolate covered pretzels are always a welcome gift to my customers and as a hostess gift! A must stop in NWOHIO.

Yum! That’s really all I have to say about the quality of the ice cream and the chocolate here, but my Unilocal app is taunting me to write more. But really, what higher accolade could a place want, or even NEED beyond, «Yum!»? OK, Unilocal app, you win. It matters not which flavor of ice cream you get, it will be delicious. And the chocolate-covered pretzels are something we give as gifts on a regular basis, much to the delight of every one of the recipients. The atmosphere is cool, as well. Old fashoined ice cream parlor with bright whites and classic furnishings. Whenever in or near Findlay, stop in. You will not regret it!

I had several folks tell me this was a must-stop when I visited Findlay… and I can see why! I always like visiting local places, especially when they have a nice selection of housemade ice cream and chocolate :) Eat in the ice cream parlor portion(where we enjoyed a generous serving of black cherry ice cream) and hop on over to the candy store side for a box of chocolates or a bag of candy where you can buy what you want by weight(we opted for a box of mint meltaways in Dark and Milk chocolate plus a quarter-pound of coconut chocolate stack candies). We were there on a weekday, but there were plenty of folks here enjoying the ice cream.

Dietsch Brothers is an ice cream and candy store in Finday, OH. They’re known for their ice cream, buckeyes, and chocolate-covered pretzels. On a recent visit to Findlay, my friend and her boyfriend insisted we pay a visit in cold March for ice cream and shakes. One can buy the candy by weight or pre-packaged in candy boxes. I sampled a chocolate-covered pretzel, and was impressed by the generous chocolate coating on the still-crunchy pretzel. I opted to buy buckeyes since we were in Buckeye territory. I also got a buckeye ice cream shake, and this shake contains miniature buckeyes. It was like a peanut butter shake with chocolate-covered peanut butter balls mixed in. As a Michigan Wolverine, I have to say this is the only form a Buckeye should come in. Dietsch Brothers was recently ranked the second best ice cream store by TripAdvisor. I enjoyed my ice cream shake, but I must admit I’m still partial to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which is also an Ohio business and now has two locations in Chicago! However, Jeni’s is expensive and one can get far more ice cream for their dollar at DB. DB does not allow you to sample the ice cream before purchasing it, though. I’d rather taste the ice cream at Jeni’s, and pay more for a scoop than risk getting a bad flavor. Not that DB could have any bad flavors. It’s a risk worth taking. I like how DB sells 16-scoop packs of ice cream. It’s perfect for an ice cream party or post-marathon calorie-binging. Overall, I’d recommend DB. It was one of the highlights of my Findlay trip.

Good homemade ice cream and lots of different choices of flavors, including a few sugar free. I like that they had boxes of ice cream that had scoops of a bunch of different flavors to take home. Only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is no samples. I wasn’t sure if I would like the sugar free and wanted to sample it before spending that kind of $ on something I wouldn’t like and was told they didn’t give samples!!! What ice cream shop won’t give out a sample???

What a gem of a place! Found it within a couple of minutes driving I-75 near Findlay OH. Great service. Great ice cream. Candies looked really good. Place was packed but the line moved fast. SO much better than chain ice cream joints.

My favorite stopping place between Piqua oh and Lorain, Oh. They have a huge variety of «you scream,”“I scream.”“We all scream for ice cream», all of which are handmade in their downtown Findley oh store. Needless to say the local, hand processing gives the ice cream a texture, taste and flavor all it’s own They also offer all the traditional cones and toppings to fulfill all of your ice cream desires ! The candy flavors are just as numerous and delicious. They are also handmade at the downtown Findley store. Specialty candy items are made for all the holidays and other special occasions throughout the year. This is one SWEET place!

Being not far from the highway, Dietsch Bros is perfect for a stop on a road trip. Their ice cream is good quality and they are aware of all their allergens, however they do not offer samples so trying a new kind could be difficult. They have a really nice gift shop with tons of goodies! My personal favorites are the salted Carmel nuggets and the chocolate dipped pretzels. Their candies are very sweet, so it makes it difficult to over indulge and easier to return home with your goodies.

Shhh … don’t tell anyone … but I was born in Ohio. The reluctance of my confession will make sense to you only if A.) You have a basic understanding of the rivalry between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and B.) You know that John H. bleeds maize and blue. I take comfort in the fact that Ohio, «cradle of coaches,» also gave birth to my favorite coach, Bo Schembechler, with whom I worked back in the early ‘80s as an athletic department custodian. BTW, that job was a religious experience, confirming the wisdom of the psalmist: «I had rather be a doorkeeper in the Big house, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness»(Ps. 84:10, JHV). When difficult days come for football fans, one might also take comfort in sweets from Dietsch Brothers candies and ice cream. John H.‘s mother, who was raised in Findlay, can’t remember a time when this place wasn’t her favorite. DB has a Valentine’s Day tradition of packaging chocolates in heart-shaped boxes; from earliest years, I remember several of those boxes above my grandmother’s piano, a reminder of familial love. Once or twice, I’ve reprised the family tradition by ordering a Valentine’s box for my mother from the online store. During a recent visit, we purchased both ice cream and candy. The items were all tasty, a perfect late afternoon treat. Fresh, local, and DIET is part of its name — it’s GOT to be good for you, right? About halfway between Ann Arbor and Columbus, DB is worth a stop for Saturday dessert, whether(in even-numbered years) you’re a Wolverine heading home following a glorious victory, or(in odd-numbered years) a Buckeye beating a retreat after an ignominious defeat. Dietsch Brothers is the kind of place that makes a Wolverine feel Ohio might just be all right after all.
