Not my first time eating at Yakatori but yesterday was under the restaurant week experience and dinner was worth the price. The menu selections were of a good variety so you could have your pick. Went with a group of 4, so we got our pick of everything and that’s the best way to do it. We ordered almost everything and shared(soups, salads, sushi, lamb, beef, two different types of icecream). Everyone was full and the food was delicious. Everything was well paced coming to the table, brought out hot, and all relatively at the same for each course so we were all starting and finishing together. There was not 1 complainant to be heard, the only sounds were the smacking of lips and the chewing of food(And that’s a good thing). Now if you go during happy hour the drinks definitely make you happy. The drinks are inexpensive, mixed well, and you have a choice of strong or sweet. So overall the experience was pleasant yet again.

Came here for restaurant week and had a great girls night out. Started off with the berry mojito which was delicious! The portions for restaurant week were very generous. I started with the udon which had great flavors I just wish there were more noodles. The Eagles roll was good but tried some of my friend’s tuna tataki which was even better! I personally loved the rib eye yakitori skewers and the quail egg and bacon. The quail egg fills you up fast so I just took the bacon off after my first one. My entrée was sashimi which wasn’t half bad! My friend got the spicy shrimp which actually was kind of spicy which I loved! Our waittress was an angel and it’s not a complete girl’s night out without karaōke. A little pricy but with a good amount of people it’s worth it. I’ll definitely be back for another needed girls night

Sushi was good, service was fast although I felt a bit rushed by the waiter. However, I would definitely go back, the environment and vibes were chill. Plus, even though I didn’t do karaōke it’s a nice option on the next level.

Private room was small and we had to ask for microphones. I’ve had better food from a Chinese take out on any corner in the city. Drinks were terrible. I had a Patron margarita and a Tokyo Tea. Both overly sweet. The servers were nice. That’s all I got. Have no idea why this place is packed. Karaōke machine has too many dated songs & not enough hits.

I was repeatedly denied entrance because I had my type 1 diabetic supplies with me. The security staff attempted to make me leave my insulin and testing equipment at the coat check because no bags are allowed inside — even if they are a medical necessity. Only through repeated requests to speak with the manager, reminder of ADA protection and 20 minutes of waiting was I finally allowed to enter. Really quite crazy to me that staff is not trained to deal with this and the standard protocol is to deny entry to people in this way. The hassle of dealing with the situation, one I’ve never experienced previously, and being made to feel the way I was probably precludes me from ever returning.

This is my second time here. I like it enough that I would come back. I wish they had their own parking venue, because this area is super congested… and parking is a pain in the butt. I appreciate the heating vent upon entry, very much. The hostess was very informative. The elevator was out of order, so if you can’t climb steps, you are SOL. Upstairs, is kinda creepy looking until you get to where you’re supposed to be. For a table in the lounge area, you have a price minimum of $ 60. The rooms… tuh, try a whopping $ 650. Way too rich for my blood. I wasn’t really impressed with the drink menu. After looking it over and seeing nothing that caught my eye, i ordered a extra dirty martini… only for the waitress to come back and tell me they ran out of olives and olive juice. Way to kill my vibe. The food menu, eh. See i only eat vegetable sushi, so my choices are limited everywhere. I’ve seen a better selection myself. Pricing ranges from about 2 – 6 bucks. I ordered Japanese sweet potato tempura. Again, ehhh. It didn’t look like what was pictured on the menu. It was just ok. I like that they had karaōke(btw it’s $ 5 for your choice of 3 songs if you want to join in).

So this is the spot to go karaōke while also getting some affordable dinner in. They have some promotion where karaōke is free if you buy the amount in food so my suggestion is to come hungry and leave happy! Make sure to check with the runner on the exact deal so that you’re not surprised at the end. Private rooms are so clutch when you go with a good sized group of people. The song selections were lacking but hey as long as you’re good with the oldies you’ll be kept entertained. This is one of the few places in philly with private karaōke rooms.

Came in for my cousin’s birthday karaōke and had an AMAZING time! You can rent a private room for pretty cheap, but honestly the crowd was so much fun that I’d recommend just enjoying at the regular bar if you’re unsure about renting. Bartenders are also friendly and theres a parking lot right next door — you can’t lose!

Trying to karaōke on a Saturday night here was an incredibly ludicrous experience that would leave anyone flummoxed. The bouncer, flanked by four equally poorly trained customer service people at the front podium, scanned my group’s driver’s licenses. Their machine did not like one of my friends’ ID. Flummoxed, the bouncer called for his manager. Said manager looks annoyed that he has to come down and deal with this. He inspects my friend’s license by eye. Equally flummoxed by said license, he resorts to their escalation method when not able to validate ID. He takes out a form– yes, paperwork– and asks my friend to fill it out, while he holds on to her license. She is then made to sign the form for I don’t know what. A little confused as to the extreme measures to validate an ID, I asked one of the customer service folks at the podium, «Geez, how many under-aged people have you let in here?!» One responded, «Well, we’ve been fined a lot, so…» So… yeah. After us, someone who did not have a driver’s license but had a US Passport was denied entry, because you can’t scan passports with their little ID validation machine. All were flummoxed. There is not one day in the week when a driver’s license is superior to a US Passport for the purpose of identification validation. Guys, you can use a passport to validate identification, it has the person’s DOB and everything. This was a poorly trained front side staff, that poorly handles anything other than a perfect scan of one’s U.S. driver’s license, if they have one to present. Once you get past the Berlin wall, the food is decent– 3.5 stars. The karubi and philly roll were pretty good. And the customer service people behind the iron gates is also very good. Flummoxed.

Happy hour sushi deals are great! Small rolls, but for $ 2.50 a roll, keep em coming! Did not visit the karaōke bar at this visit, but had our full of happy hour sushi, drinks and sake.

Had an excellent and appetizing dinner here! The food was delicious, hot and fresh. I recommend ordering the skewers and the grilled squid. The sake we ordered is my favorite ever; it was very sweet and did not taste like rubbing alcohol. Instead of clear, it had a milky color, but very refreshing and fruity. The atmosphere seemed romantic, with dim lighting and sheer curtains. There was no wait when we entered and we learned there was a karaōke bar/rooms upstairs, but didn’t get to explore this trip. We will definitely come back here for the food and drinks. The service was somewhat slow though; we ordered the grilled squid as an appetizer and it did not come until after the main course. The waitress was nice and checked on us from time to time. Overall, I admire the ambience here, the extensive menu and the delicious food & drinks!

I only go here for«yaki-Tuesday» when they have their $ 1 skewer deals, but it’s just okay nothing too special. It’s a nice restaurant in Chinatown to eat at with friends.

I came here once for a friends birthday dinner and a second time just for karaōke. I just remember it being a little chaotic and busy for dinner on a weekend, but the food was good, and fair priced. The upstairs club/karaōke area is a lot of fun and bumps this review in my opinion. It’s a good crowd/atmosphere and not your typical on stage/awkward karaōke to suffer through.

Went here for my sisters bachelorette party and had previously reserved a private room. They called the day before to confirm the reservation and when we arrived we were quickly escorted up to the room where we were told how to use the equipment and where the button for service was so that we could call for the waiter whenever we needed him. The drinks were delicious and brought quickly from the bar. Many different ones were sampled and everyone enjoyed them. The selection of songs was great, though the system was difficult to navigate especially when searching for a specific artist(they wouldn’t come up from the name search alone, they would have to be found an alternate way). Overall for the amount of time, drinks and fun that was had this was very reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Mayur C. reserved us a room but never showed(rude) so Aria S. took over the party planning. There was a group of 6 of us on Thursday around 9pm. I was thirsty and ordered the $ 3 Flying fish(special went until 11 or 12). Then moved to saki bombs. Then more beers. NOW I’m ready for some karaōke. Wait I’m a little hungry. Ate some of Aria’s awesome brussel sprouts, seriously they were almost Sampan good and definitely large enough for a few. I ordered the Magic Roll — salmon, yellowtail, crab avocado, and cream cheese tempura topped with chefs special sauce. This was really large, definitely sharing size. Overall food was cheap, large portions, and yummy. Ok really now, onto Karaōke. Since I’ve never really been here too sober, I forgot how to do everything. We hit the service button 62 times throughout the night. Jk but probably. The waitress helped us a ton with the mic volumes, finding good songs, etc. She even grabbed a more experienced waiter to help us. My favorite part of their music selection was the Taylor Swift. Does anyone else cry because Spotify doesnt have her stuff? They also have a great selection of boy bands, britney spears, etc. Once we got the hang of it we were all jammin out. They might as well have taken the mics away because we were basically screaming anyway. Awesome spot to have a guaranteed fun night!

If there is any other place better and more authentic, affordable than this, please show me, because thus far this is the closest thing that reminds me of Japan. The atmosphere is inviting, dark, easy to chat about private things without other people listening because the way things are spaced and the ambient background chattering The Tuesday special is dollar skewers and 3 dollar sapporos, Wednesday is half off rolls. I don’t often come any other time other than if I am renting a room for karaōke. I love the private room and friendly services. People are very understanding, say when the TV monitor broke or mic didn’t work, they would fix it and add an hour to the time lost for no extra charge. By the end of the night if you are there pass 11pm, room charge pretty much doesn’t exist. It’s free cause you ordered enough food to cover. I love this place and is my go to for karaōke and food.

Holy cow. After an amazing dining experience, Yakitori Boy has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Philadelphia! I came here with three friends for dinner and karaōke. Foodies that we all are, we had shamefully forgotten that this place was one of the venues for Restaurant Week 2015. We excitedly opted in for the $ 35 five-course sushi experience of our lives. From the amazing Lychee-Tini(garnished with fresh cucumber) to the Chilean Sea Bass(melt in your mouth) to the Tempura Ice Cream(green tea and mango), everything was simply divine. My crew and I barely had time for dinner chit-chat that wasn’t directly related to praising the food. Our waitress was phenomenal as well. She answered all of our questions about the dishes, waited for everyone to finish before bringing the next course, and was utterly charming and sweet. With happy and bloated bellies, we made our way upstairs to finish the night off with some karaōke. It’s a great scene, and a ton of fun, with everyone chiming in to sing along. They even gave Phillies and Flyers tickets away! A few more rounds of tequila later, we begrudgingly made our way to the last train home. I would honestly give six stars if I could – this was a total home run!
