Note that this location is closed — it’s now a Relentless Gym. Breaks my heart that this location has closed. True, it joined forces with The Book Corner in Fairmount, but I miss the store and staff … and being able to walk in with my dog! It’s spacious, well-lit, and about as well organized as a used bookstore can be. Good: — Decent selection of books ranging from popular to old leatherbounds(in varying condition) — You know which books aren’t popular by how many copies are on shelves(ahem, Twilight) — You know which books are popular by how they’re not on the shelves(:P) — Catticus Finch. What a wonderful bookstore kitty! Miss you, buddy! Eh: — Prices a bit higher for used books. — They closed down, moved out, and broke my heart. Support our library system — it’s a wonderful resource!

I haven’t been to a used bookstore in a while, but am glad that I stumbled in here a couple weeks back. The selection here is pretty good, and I managed to pick out a bunch of psychology-related books as well as comic book anthologies, for very reasonable prices. Will be back! Also, the cashier was adorably book nerdy as she engaged me in a conversation on one of the books(Foucault) that I purchased. :)

I have been in this store and its sister location, The Book Corner, on several occasions. I like to keep an eye out for references and atlases. I also look for sci-fi. I like their selection.

Love that a portion of the stores funds goes towards supporting the Free Library of Philadelphia much like The Book Corner( ) does. But compared to the majority of used book stores already listed on my «Read All About It» list, I do find its selection to be somewhat lackluster. If you’re looking for that one book from Stephen King, Janet Evanovich, or John Grisham that you haven’t read yet; or some intriguing non-fiction or art books, then you’ll find a good assortment scattered throughout the easy to navigate shelves. But if you make the effort to sift through the bulk of the offerings, you won’t find to many titles that stand out on most occasions. Still the fact that its earnings benefit the Library system, and the reasonable prices for a used bookstore do make it a good store to support. The Book Corner’s proximity to the main branch of the Free Library just makes it the better of the 2 to visit for both options.

They’re clean, bright and have a decent selection of books, quite a few of which are fairly recent. Plus the staff are always friendly. However, i find their prices to be high– $ 5 – 6 for a used paperback? You could find cheaper online.

I like used book stores and this is one of the better ones. It’s clean, open, and the books are high quality. It’s a great place to buy young adult or children books because they don’t really need brand new books anyway! The books are organized by author and no, the person working there can not help you find a book. Get in there and find it yourself. I guess that’s all right… as long as the book is cheap, right? Right?

First review on Unilocal! This is the second time I’ve paid a visit to The Next Page. The first being last minute when I was on my lunch break(very convenient walk from my workplace) and didn’t have much time left to really browse. This time I specifically planned on going during my break when I had more time. I love going to used bookstores because I don’t know why you’d ever pay full price for a book if you didn’t have to. I ended up purchasing a like brand-new hardcover of The Room by Emma Donoghue for $ 9(originally $ 24.99). I’ve been meaning to read this for a while and I’m so glad they had a copy in stock! The store is bright and everything is clearly labeled. Staff is very friendly and willing to help if you need it. They are always getting new stock in, so if you make frequent visits you’re sure to find something new every time.

Imagine one of those mediocre used bookstores that you’d find in a Las Vegas strip mall, then plop it down in City Center Philadelphia. There are a lot of books in here, and reasonably priced, but no personal touches or evidence of a «curatorial style.» Bookhounds are unlikely to sniff out any peculiar finds here.

This bookstore is much larger than it’s little(older sister) Book Corner up on the Parkway, and a totally different bird… It’s well-stocked and the selection is great… But I still love Book Corner for it’s amazing, awesome, unbelievably ridiculously low prices and the great staff there!!! So friendly, and such amazing bargains coming in there — I think they are first stocked at The Next Page, and then if they don’t sell they come to Book Corner — but sometimes they have the same books — and the one at The Next Page is $ 8 and the Book Corner one might be $ 3 or even $ 2. That being said, I did see an extra special few special gems here, and it was a great experience — and I always want to support the Free Library… The women at the counter were super friendly and sweet — that counts for a lot! p. s. I forgot my change purse that day, and it took me a full 5 minutes to go through my whole bag… when I realized that, the woman let me pay by cc, and I was very thankful for that! So even though they are a little more expensive, I’ve got my eye on a few things … maybe they have sales?

I noticed this cute book store while window shopping on my way back from the Independence Branch Library. As someone who frequents the Free Library — because it is «free» — I was happy to see the discount prices on close to mint condition books. Of course the selection isn’t as large as a for-profit bookstore, but there is still a wide variety. I picked up what looked like a vintage copy of Curious George for a friend’s baby shower, and couldn’t be happier with my find. When in need of buying a book, I’ll support my friends of the Free Library anytime! Note: Because these are used books, there is no catalog system. The store is divided up into sections, but you’ll have to do some hunting if you are looking for something specific.

I stopped in this afternoon to check it out because I need something to read for my commute to work. I was pleasantly surprised. There is a good selection and the books are priced to sell. They’re mostly used, although I believe I did see some new. I highly recommend you check it out.
