I have an old TagHeuer diving watch that needed repair. It was about 22 years old and had stopped working. I had first taken it to the TagHeuer dealer here in South Jersey (Marlton). I left my watch with them and after a few days they called and were very polite, but told me my watch was too old and parts were no longer available. They did offer me a discount on a new watch when I came to pick it up, uh… no thanks. I brought it to Sam Kalter on my brother in law’s recommendation who lives in Philadelphia as he had used Sam in the past.
I was very, very impressed with Sam. He went into great detail about my watch and explained to me that TagHeuer’s only have a 20 – 30 life span. Yikes, I thought a watch like this lasted forever! However, he was able to find and get the replacement parts from TagHeuer and pretty much rebuilt my watch! He also told me it was a great watch and will be good to go for another 25 – 30 years. The price to rebuild it was a fraction of the cost for a new TagHeuer. Sam was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It has been a couple of years since he fixed my watch and it has run perfect. I just wanted to let other people know about him on Unilocal.Highly recommended and guys like Sam are getting harder and harder to find.

I have known Sam for years and I as an appraiser I count on his knowledge and experience, especially with the higher grade watches, to determine the insurance replacement cost. Sam is a classically trained watchmaker — old school — and he does it right! He is the man to see if you have a problem with your fine timepiece!

I have been a customer of Sam Kalter for 20 years. He is trustworthy, honest, and stands behind his work. I’ve purchased 18? new and used watches from him, and NEVER had issues with his work or watches. I introduced him to my brother-​in-​law, and he’s purchased even more than me! He is that rarest of the rare; a Horologist of the finest caliber.
I recommend him above the «guy in a jewelry store» who knows nothing about the movement or quality issues of the brand they may sell. He can even procure a watch for you at a better price than a typical store. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve had all around excellent experiences with Sam: he is not like most of the jokers on the rest of the block or the charlatans at Govberg. Rather he is a watchmaker of the highest caliber and honest in his prices and opinions. He’s helped me bring numerous vintage pieces back to nearly perfect working order and undone damage visited upon one of my rarer watches by one of the monkeys on Sansom. If you have a passion for the art of watchmaking or a vintage piece that needs love, he’s the best — bar none.
