Tacony Billiards

Was a awesome place to hang and take a date to. They had pool tables of varying sizes and difficulty. Two different bars in one place, plenty of parking. They also had food as well. They also had concerts and shows here on occasion. It was pretty much everything you could want under one roof and easy to get to as well. Unfortunately it is now closed and yet another ho hum charter school looks to take up residency. Last time i passed through it was in total dissaray. Although i knew it was going to close for a while now just didnt know when.

Plenty of tables, a bar, even the occasional chick in a short skirt bending waaaay over to make that shot. And they are pagan friendly. If only the juke box didn’t blow.

Tacony is a good place for a friendly game of billards with friends. I haven’t been there in a while but the reason I stopped going was because of all the smoke. The place was always full of smokers making it hard for me to breath (a non-​smoker).
The tables themselves were good basic tables. There is also a bar on the other side of the room. There are many tables and the place doesn’t get too crowded even on weekends.

This is a decent pool hall. Its right in the middle of Tacony area. This is a decent neighborhood. Most of the pool tables are in decent shape. The bar size tables are not as good but most are decent. The one problem with this place is that it tries to wear to many hats. This is a known teenie boper hang out early 20’s hang out. They oftern have events to attract them. This at the same time they have pool leagues and at the same time Dart League night. This creates unnecesaary chaos just to many people at once. If you playing pool you have people constantly walking thru and getting in the way. This also creates a parking nightmare. They have security most of the time in case anything happens which is good. The times they have the pat downs and metal detectors are when they having an event that will attract certain elements. This is usually hip-​hop rap theme nights. Then place fills with sub 25 year olds. Its really for your own protection. I have been to this establishment probably 2 dozen times. Only twice has a fight broke out. Once was a cat fight which was actually sexy. Security was quick to re-​act and took care of it. If you need to drink eat and play pool not a bad place. Try to avoid Friday nights after nine place gets crowded most ot the time. This is because of the music events they have and just people hanging out. Like I said teenie bopers so of course they were be guys chasing them to. They really seem like they are trying to maximize profits by doing everything at once. Maybe better scheduling and spreading out certain events will help. If you are trying to play or learn pool best times will be weekdays before 5 or weeends early.
