«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» That’s what Unilocal!relates in words to the 2-star rating. Says it all, as I’m eating my veggie foot long. Don’t get me wrong. The staff was fine. There was no line. But for $ 6(after a $ 1 off coupon, mind you!), the final product(the food) simply doesn’t measure up. Perhaps it’s that I haven’t patronized this chain(and others) in a few years, and why should I, considering Philly has really good local sandwich/bread and other options; heck, the street cart falafel vendors make amazing sandwiches for less money and they offer it with a smile, plus a can of soda! As for my sandwich, it was light on the veggies– I could count the spinach leaves on a single hand! The other toppings I asked for weren’t generously offered either(a few canned black olives, 4 – 6 thin slices of green peppers… you get the idea. The only way I’m feeling full right now is because I asked for their microwaved veggie patty. The bread was ok. Make no mistake about it– those tv ads showing sandwiches overflowing with veggies are just like big chain burger commercials which show plump seeded bun sandwiching juicy, dewy tomato slices, piled high, etc. At least the bread used in the sandwich I ate was ok, and hopefully was indeed rid of the plasticizers that are also used in yoga mats… don’t believe me? look it up! – Subway only recently changed their U.S. breads to exclude this material! All in all, don’t think I’ll be using the rest of the coupons!!!

For those who mentioned the service being great, it must be a completely different staff there in the afternoon. I’ve stopped here quite a few times in the morning and I feel like I’m practically grunted. My other issue with most staff at Subway is that the sandwiches always fall apart because they’re not wrapped tightly. That aside, their sandwiches are good and a really great deal for lunch in center city.

First of all, this is a Subway restaurant, so I don’t think it could ever get 5 stars. The only thing that is going to sway a review of such a fast food chain is service and pricing. This location is usually pretty cleanly, and many students from UArts and center city universities visit. BUT, many professionals do, too, so that makes for a more diverse and reasonable crowd. As for other aspects of service, the staff members are often pretty friendly and helpful. They work quickly and give you a fair amount of food for what you order(usually). I like the fact that they have a large array of $ 5 footlong subs. That’s great for me because you get two meals for the price of one if you go to any nearby deli– very successful business model. Honestly, the food isn’t terrible either, but I don’t know how they make bread that hardly doesn’t really exist(it is 95% air, but I can’t figure out what the other 5% is). Bottom line: Of all the subways I’ve visited in Philly, this one has a good balance of service, $ 5 footlong selections, and friendly staff/customers. It’s my go-to Subway, but seriously… it’s just a Subway.

I hate to admit it in pulic, but I do like Subway. This one in particular is nice because the staff is so kind. They seem eager to please, wait patiently while I make my selection or try to say goodbye to my father on the phone. They seem interested in making sure I get what I want. The selection at Subway is pleasing as it includes salads and sandwiches and lots of yummy cookies. For an inexpensive sandwich in Center City, this is a good choice.

ten years ago my brother asked my why there were no subway sandwich shops in philadelphia. my answer was that since there are so many amazing authentic places to get a hoagie in philly, if a subway opened up, they would surely go out of business. well i guess i was FUCKIN wrong.

I ordered a «BLT sub.» I found it odd that each of those ingredients was confirmed with me as he was making it: Bacon? Yes. Lettuce? Yes. Tomato? Yes. I wanted to explain that if any of those ingredients are omitted, it’s not a BLT but I didn’t think he’s understand…(and I would hardly call this Rittenhouse Square.)

Like the other reviews say, their portioning is great, and you’ll probably be fairly satisfied for a while before your next meal of the day. That is so long as you’re not a walking vacuum. lol Also, because I haven’t seen it mentioned here yet, this particular Subway is in cahoots with the Art Institute of Philadelphia right around the corner! I have my ID, so I’ll show it to them to get their student discount. $ 4 footlong of any kind, and a $ 1 regular drink. Most AI students and staff already know about it, but maybe some of you newbies out there will want something to learn outside the classroom. ;)

This location is pretty fast and convenient and has hours til 9. They used to run a daily special, not sure if they still do, but regardless, their portion sizes are sufficient despite paying bottom dollar you won’t go away hungry. Wish all subways could have the great customer service that you find in the few that are running the right kind of ship.

Friendly staff and they’re open until 9 pm. They never have a problem with me bringing my bike inside the store so I don’t have to deal with locking it up for just a few minutes. They’ve got the $ 5 footlongs and don’t skimp on the veggies and meat. I’ll be looking like Jared in no time!
