The bike I bought from Cali was shipped here for final assembly after an interminable wait. I expected to have to wait a couple more days but they had it ready to go in like an hour so I get to ride it this weekend and that makes me happy.

First off, I went there with my two kids thinking they would be off the chain and therefore prevent me from buying anything. Boy was I wrong. I had been researching the hell outta folding bikes and there were basically 2 shops in the Philly area that carried them, PHEW and some shop around 2nd Street. I hate driving downtown and I knew I would be dragging the little kiddos along so I chose this place. Originally, I had stopped at a couple of bike shops in my area, but they were trying to talk me out of buying a folder(and that just wasn’t cool); then the one place was like, «Yeah, if you wanna come back and give some bikes a test ride…»(because I had my kids) which seemed fine at the time until after I visited PHEW, which will be explained in a min. I wanted a folder because I have no outside storage, there’s steps to get into my little twin home, we have limited storage space inside as we are a family of 5, and I wanted to be able to throw the bike, the trailer, and the kids in the SUV and go to whatever(paved) trails we want. If I did get a hybrid or mountain bike, it would need to be left outside and I didn’t want to drop a bunch of money on a bike if I was just going to leave it out for the elements to destroy. Anywaaaay, so I got to PHEW and parked right out front which was sweet because carting around these two is a job in itself(duh, mom). I was greeted by Richard who was ever so sweet. I told him what I was looking for and my budget and he grabbed several bikes for me to test ride. He wasn’t pushy(at all) and he was very willing to accommodate all my annoying questions and concerns. While Richard was helping me, Meenal took my daughter, who’s two, around on this little orange bike. She(my daughter) was MAD when we left the store without it, but I so appreciated Meenal’s diversionary tactics. My son, who’s one and hates everyone, took a liking to Afshin and they hung out on the sidewalk while I rode a couple of bikes down and back. I ended up grabbing a folder which was way below budget but perfect because I didn’t really wanna spend that much money anyway! The staff was amazing(obviously!) and I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking for a folding bike, or any bike for that matter. The minute we got home we easily hooked up the trailer, because Afshin had the hitch cup installed for us at the shop, and went to Rita’s to round out our nice little day. Thanks so much Philly Electric Wheels!

You cannot get any better customer service! I was blown away. I had researched electric bikes and had some idea of what I wanted. I showed up on a Saturday and immediately, the owner and his wife were listening to my needs and helping me decide. I got to ride three bikes to test out. It never felt like I was bothering them with my questions, even though they must have heard the same questions a million times. Both were gracious and you could tell they really loved their business. We discussed everything from which type of lock, how to care for the bike, helmet safety and more! I put a deposit down. A few days later, I went back and paid the balance. They had installed everything I had paid for before I arrived. The owner again went over how to care for my bike and how to fold it up. I bought the EZ Pedaler F300 and it folds. We talked about safety issues as well. 15 minutes later, I was out the door and on my way. BUT, since I was new to Philadelphia, the owner actually got on his bike and escorted me to a location where I could then navigate my way back to Center City. It was unreal. What a thrill. And all the time he was watching me like a little kid just learning to ride. I will definitely be going back there for service updates. And I highly recommend them. Very good price for excellent service. Today I rode my bike to work. And so far everything went well. Now if I could just get drivers to pay more attention to us bikers…

We had a great experience buying a bicycle here. They are really knowledgable and friendly, and they have a wide selection at a range of prices. While they obviously have lots of electric bikes, they also had many bikes for kids, plus more conventional road bikes, and some used bikes for the more price-conscious! I got my son a sturdy used bike to bring to college, along with a good helmet and lock. In the hour we were there, lots of people of all ages were strolling through looking for bikes or bringing in/picking up repairs, but the co-owners made everyone feel welcome, and they have a low-key, no pressure style of sales. Which I love! We’ve had repairs done here in the past(at their old place) and they did a great job. The new warehouse space is awesome. Great addition to our neighborhood and worth driving from another!

I love this place so much. My bike is a commercial one(and you know how that is) and it started breaking down after about 1 week of extensive use. I needed to have my bike fixed and I selected this place. Turns out it just needed a tune up, and after that tune up it honestly felt new again. Now there’s a problem where it’s not changing gears correctly and the breaks are screeching(it started when I rode down the Ben Franklin Bridge and stopped too hard), I know I will be patronizing this place again! The wife and the husband who own this store are really helpful and generous!

Needed a repair shop for my electric bike which stopped working after I repaired a flat tire. Since I live in Doylestown I looked for the nearest store and found Phew! A novel name for an electric bike repair shop and a fun place to visit as the staff are both friendly and helpful. I had called ahead and was given some advise as to what to check to try and resolve the problem but figured without the tools I would be best to travel the 25 miles down Rt 309 and get it fixed. I’m glad I did as the experience was both entertaining and enjoyable. Within seconds the staff started to work on the bike but thought it bests to leave it for them to resolve as it could take some time. A few days later I received a call to say my sturdy steed was ready! Yippy! Returning to the store was given the opportunity to test ride a Strommer bike while the girl friend chatted with the staff. What a well balanced bike and a pleasure to ride! Ok both of them! The repair was two broken wires at the hub but they also fixed other items like the binding brake tighten throttle linkage and replace battery in speed mileage meter. $ 20 for parts and $ 83 labor. None of which should have given pleasure but it did as I felt it was all worth the time and money. Thank you Phew! I’m saving for the $ 3499 Stommer.

These folks STRONGLY deserve a positive rating. Their main trick? Underselling Wal-Mart… by a lot. PHEW has eTour Glide bikes — which are lithium-ion battery powered — for $ 750 each, which is $ 100 less than Wal-Mart… but if you opt to assemble the bike yourself, PHEW will sell it for $ 685. Go figure, a local shop is 20% cheaper than the 200 lb. gorilla of discount retail. Frankly, I cannot find anyone who can undercut PHEW’s price. Beyond the excellent prices is the selection. PHEW is where to go to compare BIONX vs. ‘generic’ bike conversion kits, as well as to try all different levels of EB’s. I believe that PHEW offers the best advice and the best prices one can hope to find in a dedicated shop. I wish them the very best. If you’ve read this far, here’s the working anecdote… I went to Wal-Mart to look at an EZip Trailz. They refused to sell it to me, because ‘there is a problem with the charger’. I suggested that they could sell it to me with an open-box discount to which they replied«No, because if we get it fixed, we can sell it for full price». Wow, I wish I’d recorded that exchange… I guess Wal-Mart is in the business of selling stuff for full-price these days, lols! One call to PHEW and I was on my way to electric bike bliss.

I am not from Philly but on vacation from New York and specifically sought out this shop for the opportunity to test ride an electric bicycle. I got to also test ride an electric tricycle as well! The proprietors were so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating, even though they understood right from the get-go that I was not there to buy. It was worth snaking around Germantown Avenue in Friday afternoon traffic to find this place. The test drive was a life-changing experience, convincing me that an electric bike is my future!

The help at this amazing store was so professional and knowledgeable. I wanted a bike that could give me a push going up the hills to my home and I found the perfect and affordable electric bike that’s a blast to ride. I now ride it everywhere including to work as the battery lasts for 20 miles!
