Pamir Grill Kabob

Pamir Grill is a low key place with great tasting food. I just moved into the neighborhood and I am quickly becoming a regular there. They are very quick to serve the food and always friendly. With this type of cuisine, I always try the gyro first. Great tasting lamb, white sauce and pita (which is always the make or break point for me). I recently tried the kofta chalow (beef meatballs) which was delicious. The meatballs were cooked nicey and crumble in your mouth. The sauce is very light despite it looking oily. I am looking forward to trying more of their food!

I was looking for a quick take-​out skewer of meat, and this place rated well. The lady at the counter was very friendly and was happy to make me the lamb kebob without any of the sides. She said she would give me a couple of extra pieces of meat to compensate. It was tasty, but as someone else noted, the portion size of meat was still very small, especially compared to other places in the area, where you can get just a skewer of meat for $ 3 – 4. This small portion without any sides cost me $ 11.

Pamir Grill is located in Jewelers Row. They serve delicious Afghan food at an affordable price. You can tell they care about their business. Many people order takeout, so the restaurant itself usually has very few tables filled. I’ve been a few times, all for a sit-​down meal in the restaurant. The service is friendly and portions are very big. The chalow items on the menu are tasty. They provide photos of the dishes next to each menu item, which makes it easier to select an unfamiliar dish.

Delicious! The food is very authentic. If you are considering afghan food — this place is a must go!

This is a very low-​key restaurant that does much of its business as takeout. It has a dozen tables or so for in house eating. It looks like a family run business. The service is friendly fast. I had the lamb kebab. It was just just fine! I would go back.

In was in town for work and stopped by here one evening for dinner. Loved the appetizers (aushak and noodle soup). Ordered the chicken kabob for my main course. I have had several different types of afghan rice but this rice was AMAZING! The restaurants interior was nice and clean. The ambiance was great as well, dimmed lights and beautiful afghan music playing in the background. Delicious food and great customer service, will stop by next time I’m in Philly!

Tried Unilocal new ordering service, which was the best part of this experience. The ordering feature is seamless, and user friendly.
With that being said I ordered a lunch lamb kabob that came with a salad, bread, a green dressing on the side, and rice. The salad was fresh, the rice was seasoned a decent amount, however the lamb portion, veggie, and bread were too small of a for me to want to go back here.
For 11 dollars the price was fair, however, I wasn’t wowed by lunch.
I regretted ordering here because I have tasted better lamb options off of food trucks around the neighborhood. The portion could have been a bit better and the ¹⁄₈^th piece of a full pita they offered me was laughable.
The food was prepared very quickly, the to go service was friendly, however the restaurant missed the point with their portion control.

Took forever to take our order. Then, food took forever to come out. Gyros are not fresh– frozen gyros are served. I never knew gyros were white– thought I would get the normal brown colored lamb gyros. But I got white colored strips. Did not even finish eating them because I didn’t know what it was. Asked for water, and it never came out. Asked for more white sauce and was told we only have a little left. Few of the dishes never even came out. Sad to see the unprofessionalism at this place. Wish it was a better experience after spending so much money here.

Don’t forget to check your to-​go orders before you leave. We ordered the chicken kabob, lamb chalow, and shambosa to-​go. When we got home, there was no lamb, just a container with white rice and salad. When I called back, they apologized and asked if they could bring it to me. How nice? EXCEPT nearly 10 minutes later, it was raining too hard so they told me they weren’t coming. They offered me a refund, but NOT for the whole entrée. The lamb chalow was $ 11 (plus tax), they were refunding me $ 7 refund. So they still dared to charge me for $ 4 (plus tax) for white rice and bland salad?! Seriously?! Terrible customer service. The other options was picking it up another time, but why would I want to return. It took the $ 7 and will never look back.
Oh yeah, the chicken was a lil dry, the brown rice was a little dry, and the salad was bland. The sambosa was NOT as large as he described and greasy.
I would not return for the food, even if I did get my full order.

Simple. Delicious. Inexpensive. Awesome owners. Keep trying this place out; especially if you work nearby. Great lunch spot. For the same price, you’d be eating what … processed lunch meat from Old Nelson? No-​brainer. Try Pamir Grill The Gyro with french fries is filling. The kebab platters are just the right size for lunch.
They don’t over season their food with salt or spices. It’s just enough, especially for lunch. they need to up the foot traffic and # of diners; I imagine rent is expensive. Let’s make sure we patronize these fine folks who make delicious, wholesome food.

I checked this place with my sister on a Friday evening. It’s located in the diamond district and is an easy walking distance from the train. It was empty when we got there at 5. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
We had the number 1 appetizer, a lamb kabob and both desserts. Everything was delicious!
The owner was also very friendly.
My only negatives are the décor being a little plain and I wish my dish had more lamb on it.
Overall I would recommend.

Easy walking distance to the Walnut Street Theater, so we stopped in for dinner before the show. My wife tried the Kafta Chalow while I had the lamb gyro. Both meals were tasty and well-​cooked. The service we had was excellent.
A couple at the table near to us complained that one of their dishes was too spicy. I believe they were not used to ANY level of spiciness with their food, and their «spicy» dish was refunded by the restaurant staff with apologies and a visit from the chef who wanted to check up on the complaint.
I found that our dishes were spiced lightly and perfectly.
The dining room was fairly quiet for a Friday night, I guess because their location is right in the heart of Philadelphia’s Diamond District; not where one would expect to find an Afghan restaurant. But if you’re in the area and get a hankering for kabobs and other Afghan food, go for it!

Came to this little place out of curiosity and to try something different while I was downtown. My partner and I sat all the way in the back, it was a bit dark (I don’t know if this place had renovation because the pictures of the interior look a little bit different.) But anyways, I’m very hesitant to try different cultural food unless it’s Korean cuisine. But my oh my, this kabob place was very good. I had the chicken kabob while my fiancée had the lamb. I was shocked, I didn’t know if I would have liked it but it was a pleasant surprise.

I met a friend for a Quick lunch at Pamir. it was tucked in the Jeweler’s Row, and It was empty, so we were seated immediately.
The owner/​waitress took our order right away and brought them out promptly, however, we were not offered or served water during our meal! Tap water, sparkling water, or even Fiji water with lemons would be great!
As I’ve tried other Afghani restaurants In the Philadelphia, I think the food was as plain as the décor. I had the Chicken Kabob and my friend had the Lamb Kabob.

I Must have went at a bad time, during lunch on a weekday. I could not even finish the food. I went with my mom she got the chicken kabob and I ordered the Lamb Chalow. The portions were very small except the rice I got like 3 cups of cooked rice to go with about a half cup of stew. My mom and I both agreed the food lacked s lot in the taste department. Everything was bland not to mention my lamb and rice tasted as if it had been sitting in a plastic container for some time. The staff were very nice but the food just was not good.

So I grew up with Afghan parents and ate homemade Afghan food daily. I can honestly say that the chef at Pamir is a better cook than my mother (my mother agrees). The ingredients are fresh. Nothing comes from a can. The standouts in this menu are the Ashak (afghan leek dumpling) with homemade yogurt and chickpea sauce, the lamb kabaab with homemade spices and marinade, and the Ashe or Afghan soup, has fresh herbs, fresh noodles and the broth comes from no can or box. You can taste that she soaks her beans overnight, buys only fresh noodles not the dry ones, and makes her own soup stocks. This may be overly glowing but it’s only because I’ve been far from home and this place feels exactly like fresh home cooking. Authentic, cheap, fresh food. Other Afghan restaurants in Philly feel more like Afghan — American food, rather than the real deal.

After shopping along Philadelphia’s Jewelry Row, we stopped for lunch at Pamir Grill Kabob based on past Unilocal reviews of 4.5 out of 5.

We started with appetizers of Bulanee Gandana, a thin, crispy fried turnover filled with leeks and scallions served with a slightly spicy cilantro sauce much like hari chutney. The potato filled Sambosa were equally delicious and well-​seasoned.
For my entrée, I had the Beef Kofta Kabob which was served with bread, rice and a simple salad with a tangy yogurt based dressing. The kofta was seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly and was hot and delicious. Slightly crispy exterior, fragrant, spiced and soft interior — perfect!
My dining partner had the lamb kabobs and they were served with the same accompaniments and were as delicious.
I had several cups of black Afghan tea and finished with Firnee (Firni) for dessert. Pamir’s firnee was reminiscent of Chinese doufu hua in that the custard was like soft barely formed curds. An Afghan version of paneer kheer or sweet custard served chilled sprinkled with ground pistachios.
The proprietress was friendly, attentive and the food was truly delicious!
For those whom it is important, the food is halal.
As a casual kabob house it was very reasonable and we had lunch for two with appetizers, entrées, beverages and dessert for under $ 40. Loved it!

Warm, hearty home cooked style meals from a literal mom and pop eatery! Their kabobs are second to none and are a cheap eat considering the location. I get the Chicken Kabobs when I’m there and it makes my mouth water thinking about them. Thick cuts that are flavored and cooked all the way through and a perfect complement to the bed of rice and their special slightly spicy sauce. Also comes with a small salad and usually you’ll be served some complimentary noodle soup if you’re eating in.
They are just starting out so if you get to know the owners now, they will treat you right every time you eat there. They are wonderful folks with equally wonderful food!

The menu is all about kebobs and stews. Ample seating is available; I did take out and it was ready pretty quickly.
A leek turnover came free with my entrée. It was decent, but felt reheated, making the texture off.
I chose the lamb chalow entrée ($ 10) after it was recommended. For my to go order, a platter of rice and salad was separate from the container of lentil and lamb stew in a tomato sauce. It wasn’t a huge amount of the stew, but it worked as a lunch time portion. The stew was not oily and the lamb was tender, moist, and flavorful– all the things you want from your lamb stew.
