There is something off about this place. Open to trying anywhere to give it a shot, I ventured away from the popular Franklin Fountain to exercise other options around Old City. The staff seemed to be more concerned about telling each other what to do and having personal conversation rather than servicing my needs. They were not very savvy on how to make my waffle in the waffle iron. While it tasted great, it was only ¾ of the way made as there were holes where the squares should have been filled. Other than that the vibe was just strange and felt like the business was hiding something. On the upside they had Basset’s ice cream and that was great! Overall, not worth your time or money and I won’t be going back.

Right in Old City, around the corner from the Franklin Fountain. So right off the bat, their prices blow away Franklin Fountain. FF is over priced and really not that great for what you get portion wise. I went once, waited forever, and was unimpressed. The Olé Creamery Café serves Bassett’s Ice Cream, which is a pretty good brand in my opinion. Their menu is pretty simple and they are willing to adjust orders and pricing according to your liking it seems. I got a double scoop with Espresso over top, was about $ 4.50…Great price if you ask me. The guy was very nice and let us know that during the day they also serve lunch. The lunch menu looked good, I’ll have to come back during the day sometime. If you’re in the area looking for ice cream, skip the fountains long lines and underwhelming portions, give this little shop a try. I think you and your wallet will be happier.

This place would be fine as a substitute in a pinch for Franklin Fountain if not for the miserable people working here. The employees don’t want to be bothered with customers who might take away from their texting time. The one girl never even took off her earbuds continued talking to friends while waiting on customers. Got to be the owner’s daughter because at least four people walked out rather than place orders. Really comical how bad the service was.

Ice cream is as expected from Bassett’s. So what this amounts to is a review of the the shop itself. Looks nice and appropriate for Old City. I really wanted to like this this shop but the employees are off-putting. The two ladies working tonight did not greet us and when we asked about flavors they were texting and told us to «hold on.» Their English was very rude, with improper grammar and dismissive to say the least. Will not be returning sadly.

Their milkshake was really tasty but their service is super slow. I had the vanilla ice cream with Oreos in them and it was so good. This was the first place I visited on my trip here and I’m glad that I took a stroll from my hotel to discover them

I really wanted to like this place. I used to live in a town where all the tourists went to the ‘touristy’ ice cream place but all the locals knew the really great ice cream place was around the corner and a little more hidden. I was hoping this place was the hidden gem but it’s not. The employee was not very friendly, the place was kind of messy with toppings all over the counter which no one had cleaned up(if it was busy I could have understood, but it wasn’t). Worst of all, the ice cream was not good. The chocolate was actually pretty bad, the pralines and cream was ok. The only thing this place has going for it is they take credit cards and the portions were large. Unfortunately I tossed most of my bowl, I just felt it wasn’t worth the calories. That is not something I’ve ever done, but, although I can forgive the bad service and less than orderly conditions, bad chocolate ice cream is inexcusable.

Decent little place to get ice cream if you don’t want to spend too much cash like Franklin Fountain. The woman behind the counts was nice and the ice cream was decent enough. The hot fudge was kinda bitter though, but it didn’t ruin the ice cream. It is adequate enough if you need that ice cream fix.

On a summer day of walking around Philly, a cold treat was on our mind. Olde creamery was spotted on our way to our next destination. We walked into a quaint little shop that featured Bassetts ice cream. I had never tried this brand but it looked tasty. The gentlemen waiting on us was very friendly and offered us many samples. I decided on the small butterscotch vanilla cup. The small size was more than enough. The ice cream was decadent and creamy. My friend had for the small scoop in a waffle cone. Holy huge batman! They definitely give you your money’s worth. If you happen to be in this part of town, give ‘em a try! I was one satisfied customer!

Nice server and convenient location. Ice cream tastes terribly synthetic — I ended up throwing away more than half — have never thrown away ice cream before.

Wonderful server who charmed my six year old with her foreign accent. The ice cream is Bassett’s which is always good. All of the toppings are free — nuts, crushed Oreos, snickers, Reece’s cup — the real stuff. Very inexpensive. Espresso $ 1. Yes — really.

Please just go to the franklin fountain and don’t waste your money here. So this place is basically a bassetts with a different name. My ice cream is obviously not made on site. Mine had horrible freezer burn. The prices are pretty high compared to similar places in the area.

This place is great! Stumbled into with my friend after a long week– and it was just what we were looking for! Try the Philly graham slam– it’s delish! Also, the young lady working here is super nice– and she even provided an extra pump of hot fudge on the way out! The prices are right– come get it before the drunken bro’s do.

Old City desperately needed an ice cream place that’s not Franklin Fountain, and Olde Creamery is great! They’re new so they’re still working out the kinks, but I was pleasantly surprised. I do love Franklin Fountain, but if you like«normal» flavors of ice cream, don’t like ridiculously long lines, and generally enjoy air conditioning, Olde Creamery is the place for you. Plus, they serve Bassett’s, so you can’t go wrong there. It’s a bit on the pricier side(though even the 1 scoop portion is HUGE), which is not unexpected for Old City, and they’re cash only… also not unexpected for Old City. All in all, it’s a cute place with nice staff and a pleasantly decorated interior with exposed brick. I will definitely be returning.
