Saturday night dinner with a friend on the cheap. Outdoor seating along a row of restaurants with other outdoor seating makes you feel like you are not at a small sushi place but like you are part of the white table cloth dining just a few feet away. Great people watching and byob for summer evenings.

went here on a saturday night in olde city with a friend. we wanted sushi and she told me that if i wanted to be more economical, mizu was the place to go. there is out door seating, but it was full so we sat inside. it’s very small, but not cramped. it had an intimate feeling. the server was really really nice. we order vegetable dumplings and avocado roll. the dumplings came out first with this delicious sauce that i forget to ask what it was. as soon as we finished, our dishes were whisked away promptly and our avocado rolls came out as the main course. They have lots and lots of different kind of sushi, of course. You get 12 pieces here which is more than you usually get. ALSO i wish i had known before we came here but its a BYOB. SOBRINGYRWINE! the waiter offered to let us run next door to get take out beer but we just shrugged it off to know for next time. it was cool and pleasant. only thing i didnt like was they had the radio on. obviously music is a must in an establishment, but i hate listening to commericals when i go out. so basically i spent maybe $ 10 – 12 on a drink, appetizer, and a vegetable roll. not too bad for a nice sushi place in olde city.

I work nearby and there are several choices for sushi. I keep coming back to Mizu for the friendly staff and a-maz-ing sushi. Everything is always fresh and quickly prepared. The spicy tuna roll is my fav and I can get 212-poece rolls for about $ 16. Not too shabby considering other places nearby are more expensive and not as tasty!

I felt the opposite as another commenter who said that the Rittenhouse location was better: this location definitely is a step above. The fish here is very fresh, the sushi/sashimi well cut and prepared, and the dumplings are delicious.

I used to frequent the Rittenhouse location all the time when I was a teenager. it was easy, fast, and delicious and the prices were really good. Unfortunately, the Olde City location does not really live up to its Rittenhouse sister. I ordered a yellowtail roll which was good and a spicy salmon roll which was really disgusting. It was literally salmon, mayonaisse, and some old bay. I had to throw it out. I am going to give it another shot next week, and I hope it goes well. xo

Quality fish and you can eat right out on the street. For some reason their lemon-patterned water glasses cracked me up. The service was decent, you can get good rolls for around $ 10 a roll.

My girlfriend and I just ate at Mizu tonight. Our waitress was ok at first. She was young and definitely inexperienced as a server, but we let her slide. So here lies the problem: My girlfriend ordered a specialty role and they gave her the wrong one. We waited for 10 minutes for the waitress to come back and check on us(which was ridiculous considering there were only 3 other people there) and by the time she did we had already began eating considering we were STARVING! So my girlfriend tells the waitress the problem, just so she is aware and the girl apologizes and tells us that she will comp the Sushi roll. When the check comes, we notice that the roll is not comped so we tell the waitress and she apologizes and THENTAKESTHEROLL, WHICHWEHADTOGO, and picks it out of our to go box with her bare hands(which also had the food we didn’t eat in it) and says we can’t have it because we didn’t pay for it! The same roll that SHESAID she just comped! RIDICULOUS! Not only were we pissed that she straight up lied, we were beyond disgusted that she picked our to-go box with her bare fingers. Needless to say, we left our to-go box behind, along with any possibility that we will EVER eat there again! Stay away!

When I get sushi at work, I normally go to Mizu at 40th Street and have a descent meal. I was happy to see that Mizu opened in my neighborhood, and was delighted to find it of a slightly higher caliber! The place is clean, the staff friendly, and the spicey tuna roll is tasty. I also love the edamame — or maybe it’s the sea salt they use — but it’s so much better than any other sushi bar in the city! The eel roll is not my favorite, but is tasty from this place. They also make vegetarian rolls, made to order rolls, and a variety of speciality maki — Dragon Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Olde City Roll! They’re great on price, too! Only draw back, they don’t always have delivery…
