So confused! We went two times and had amazing desserts! We went back recently and the dessert was AWFUL! How did that happen?! I was so sad when I was eating the dessert pizza that now tastes like cardboard! I used the rave about their dessert and long to go back. Now, I won’t be going back or recommending this place to others. Their changes are not for the better. Very strange, I wonder why they went down this route.

The two hostesses were friendly and answered all of my questions, but the person at the Togo counter seemed like she didn’t want to be there. I got the hazelnut milkshake but should have gotten the chocolate instead. It always smells so good in there!

This was awesome. Do not get tricked into the fondue, order the hot chocolate! Holy cow it was amazing liquid gold fulfilling every chocolate craving I had for the month. We also had the most enthusiastic waiter at the bar that wanted to tell us what to order including skipping straight to the dessert menu; I liked that. My table also ordered the mac and cheese and the BALT and both were excellent. The décor at this place is worth walking into if you’re stopping by too– very fun!

Max Brenner! So much memory in this place. This place used to be my favorite dessert spot when I lived in Philly. I could not even count how many times I’ve been here and that’s how much I love to come here. I was super excited when I know that there is a dessert place opening near my house and I actually went there with my sister the first week when they opened. The first impression of this place is its cute décor! The wall is decorated with cartoon scenes. There was also tubes connecting chocolate and transfer to a huge barrel. I found it super cool. I’ve tried their varieties kinds of dessert. Banana Hazelnut Crêpe, Peanut Butter and Banana Chocolate Crêpe, Banana Split Waffles, Tutti Frutti Waes, The Melting Chocolate True Heart Cake & Shake, Chocolate Chunks Pizza, Chocolate Fondue Tower… Wow even I am wordless listing these up, don’t know how much calories I had gained from here! I also tried several of their savory items like Pan-Toasted Penne ‘Alfredo’ and Sesame Salmon. Instead of describing the dish one by one, I will just talk about my favorites. My favorite chocolate dessert there was the Peanut Butter and Banana Chocolate Crêpe. They provided this milk chocolate ganache that you could drizzle over the crêpe or ice cream. The ganache was delicious. It was not too sweet or bitter plus I am already a bi fan of milk chocolate. Ice cream was super rich and refreshing. I also love how they put peanut butter inside the crêpe. This dish was just rich, refreshing and delicious! I also tried their chocolate pizza, I had to say that for the first time, I felt a little weird maybe because I was not used to combine sweets in a savory item. However, the flavor of pizza was amazingly good. You can choose two toppings for the pizza: crunchy hazelnut bits, bananas, peanut butter or roasted marshmallows. I always go with the marshmallow and peanut butter. I had to say this item definitely made me full though. I do not suggest take home because who likes soft sweet pizza? In terms of savory item, I really enjoy their sesame salmon. It is funny that I usually don’t eat cooked salmon but I actually find this dish amazing. First time my friend ordered this and I took a bite, then you could imagine, I basically finished my friend’s dish… The salmon dish came with spinach and wasabi aoili. I love love love the spinach here. It was super flavorful and the wasabi aoili added a kick to this dish. The juice of salmon mixed with the spinach definitely make the spinach taste super flavorful. I also tried their onion rings since it was a popular order item there but I find it okay, nothing really worth writing about. Too bad I already move out of Philly but whenever I go back and visit my friends, this place is like a meeting place for us. Will definitely go back when I visit Philly! Parking is hard around the area since its in Center City, you will need to find street or parking structure.

Not exactly what I was expecting, but overall I was satisfied. Made reservations at 5, came about 15 minutes early and waited about half an hour for our seats. Our waitress was very nice, though she continued to forget about us. I ordered a lemonade slushy drink and my friend got a strawberry smoothie. To my friends disappointment the smoothie was more banana than anything! I got the mac and cheese while my friend got chicken alfredo. My friend’s chicken alfredo was pretty good, but the pasta was a little overcooked. My mac and cheese was a little disappointing as it said on the menu it was going to be crunchy, yet there was no crunch, it was extremely creamy; which isn’t bad, but I was expecting it to be crunchy! We had to flag our waitress down most of them time to order and to get refills(on our water). I understand it was extremely busy, but we were sitting right by the kitchen doors and she passed up multiple times without checking on us. We got dessert, which was pretty darn good! If we could lick the bowl clean, we would of, but we were too full to finish it! The dessert we got contained little bits of fruit with ice cream and chocolate cake and some hot fudge. The cake was baked very well as it was very moist and yummy! From my first visit here, I would say that the«real food»(as I like to call it) was just mediocre, but the dessert were amazing!!! We’ll stop by again sometime and just come here to eat a bunch of dessert!

Amazing place for chocolate desserts! First time: I got Max’s famous chocolate mess party for two, which was good but has wayyyy too much whipped cream. The layer of cake on the bottom was pretty thin(no more than 0.5 inch thick), and the amount of whipped cream on top was HUGE. More cake(and a bit more vanilla ice cream to balance it out) and less whipped cream would make the dessert perfect. The choco-pops topping was delicious(adds crunchiness and even more chocolate flavor to the smooth ice cream and cake texture). Nothing impressive, like 3 stars… BUT2nd time: I got Euphoria Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Sundae(Max I-Scream), which was amazing! The peanut butter fudge was so thick and so good. It was better than the first dessert and definitely a lot more unique — worth like 4.5 stars. Will have to try some chocolate drinks next time! Heard milkshakes here are amazing.

This place was amazing. It was very crowded the day I went. The waiting time was about 2 hours. But luckily we had a reservation so only took about 10 minutes for our table. But it was still amazing regardless, we mainly went for just desserts and trust me when I say this, I fell in love.

Made a reservation for 9:00 pm. Came in on time. Waited 30 minutes to be seated. And there were no seats for guests waiting. I would be fine with that if it was a normal day, but today I felt tired and a bit sick, and wanted to take a rest. The fondue tasted as other fondues, nothing special. One of the candles came in unlighted. We left it as it was because it was hard to find our waiter. When he came to us again, we were ready for our check. Overall it was an okay desert experience.

This place is dangerous. I mean you can walk in here looking like Rob Kardashian circa ’05 and come out looking like type 2 diabetes Rob of today. On paper some of these things seem outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed my cheeesteak on waffles but some of their desserts are overkill. Imagine Dylan’s Candy on crack. That is what this place is. Good for breakfast, late night snaking but definitely don’t count the calories here and prepare to feel guilty when leaving.

Glad I finally got to try Max Brenners! Such a trendy spot! Great service, great atmosphere, and good food! Their entrees are on the pricey side(my friend got their deluxe grilled cheese with fresh tomato soup for $ 16.95), but it was tasty. This would be a fun place to go to with a group of friends, for girl’s night, or for a date! I tried their Cheesesteak Waffle Sandwich and it came with their waffle fries and the meal was delicious! There was a lot of steak on the sandwich and everything was seasoned well. I also got a cup of their hot chocolate of course! I got the marshmallow hot milk chocolate drink and they had quite a selection of hot chocolates! You have the options of getting it with white, milk, or dark chocolate. I will definitely be back to try more chocolate goodies!

This place is a go-to spot for dessert lovers, but the food leaves much to be desired. Drinks and desserts are chocolate themed and sugary sweet. Prices are steep at $ 13 for all cocktails. The service and entrées seem to be what you would expect at any chain restaurant. Menu consists of burgers, mac n’ cheese, sandwiches, and casual fare. Food here is also expensive for what it is– $ 19 for a cheeseburger and $ 16 mac n’ cheese! Desserts are the focus here so save your money for those, $ 10 – 20. When you’re here for dessert try the Hot Chocolate, Crepes, Waffles, Chocolate Pizza, Smores, Fondue, or a Sundae.

Fantastic concept — if you’re into chocolate! Their menu is great, lots of variety and I’ve always enjoyed my meals. However, you do not come here just for lunch or dinner. You come here for drinks or dessert, obviously. The chocolate martini is amazing! It comes garnished with a chocolate covered strawberry — so good! I’ve also tried a couple of their sundaes — they are definitely an item that you need to share with 3 – 4 people. They’re HUGE! They also have a gift shop that has some great ideas for gifts or smaller items that would be great additions to a gift card. They also serve brunch on the weekends until 4pm, which is good to know!

I’m a female, so sometimes I just crave chocolate. I came here after dinner somewhere else and I regret not coming here first. First off this isn’t just a dessert place, they also have decadent dinners. I was very overwhelmed by the menu because I wanted mostly everything on it, but I had to have some self control. I started off with the chocolate S’mores Martini. Then shared the Classic European Fondue for Two. Everything was easy to dip into the fondue, except the brownies. They kept falling apart so they weren’t really touched. I was completed full of chocolate after that and couldn’t order anymore. If I’m craving chocolate, I will come back and I hope to leave room for dinner. Also, check in for some free chocolate. Don’t mind if I do.

Friend and I came here on the search for something toasty to warm ourselves up from walking through the city. We’d eaten already so only sat down with the intention of ordering a couple hot drinks but both gravitated toward their chococktails. I was slightly repulsed by the sound of chocolate martini, but who could resist trying some boozy nutella and chocolate covered strawberry? Not I. We ordered two of their chocolate martinis — the original and the current special«fireside»(with dashes of cinnamon, nutella, chocolate covered graham, etc.). Both were surprisingly delicious, although rich and a bit thick at the bottom. Perfect for sipping though. For nibbles we tried their waffle fries with chili and cocoa powder that comes with a spicy dip. AMAZING. Sadly they came out more room temp than hot, but still were too good. Service was great on a Monday night, and this place has great atmosphere for conversations. Menu is slightly pricey and the caloric intake is a tad overboard, but the indulgence is totally worth it.

Came for my best friends birthday dinner with my sister. Reservations were made through open table. Max Brenners is half restaurant and half store which is a cool concept. Especially for it being known for its chocolate and desserts. I had to change my reservation twice due to traffic. I made it by 9:55 for a 10PM and we were seated quickly. Server was David and he was super nice and helpful with the menu. It was really busy being that it’s Friday night on Walnut street. We looked over the menu before we got there so ordering was quick. The menu has something for everyone. Vegetarian, meat eater and chicken lover. I was interested in their waffle sandwich but I don’t eat beef or pork and both contained such. Max Brenners make a chicken waffle sandwich! Please! The menu is easy to navigate. Drinks on the left. Food on the right with a separate menu for desserts. shakes and all things chocolate. We ordered the Lemon granita drink which was lemonade blended with ice and mint. The salted caramel milkshake. Both DIVINE!!! They should consider adding alcohol to both. I’d drink it by the gallon. For dinner we ordered the black and blue mushroom burger. The sesame salmon and the Sunday Mood pasta with chicken. My friend said her burger was amazing. Seasoned well and very juicy. My salmon was ok. It was well cooked. Served with grilled pineapples and dirty rice. The dirty rice was actually pretty good. The only issue I had was that the salmon was dry and could’ve used a sauce on it. A pineapple glaze would’ve went with it amazing versus two grilled pineapple slices. It also came with an arugula salad which was pretty tasty. Not sure what the dressing was. I wanna say lemon Dijon. The star of all the meals though was the Sunday Mood pasta! My gawd! Rotini. tomato basil pesto. Grilled chicken tossed with goat cheese topped with ricotta. It was fvking AMAZING. One of the most flavorful pastas I’ve ever had. Ever. You don’t come to Max Brenners and NOT order dessert. I mean come on. That’s what they’re known for. We ended up ordering dessert despite being really full. The Europhia sundae. Vanilla & chocolate ice cream. Bananas. Hazelnut and toffee sauce/crunchies. Melted Peanut butter and dark chocolate sauce on the side. Man. This was orgasmic. I wish I could try every desert. It was hard picking just one item. Despite going over the dessert menu a good 8 times. Max brenners is def a place to visit for lunch/brunch/dinner or just dessert. I’ll be back for sure. It’s one of those places you can keep visiting to taste everything and never get tired of it. Very pleased. And so was the birthday girl!

Food is delicious, service is eh. We were seated a half hour before they closed on a Thursday night and the service was wicked slow. The food was worth the wait, but we didn’t have napkins, utensils or water. Usually at restaurants they fill your water glass with practically every sip. After consuming such rich and heavy food, I just needed water and it took our waitress until we were halfway done with dessert to bring us water(and I’m a slow eater). Our waitress was a sweet girl, just not very attentive. Maybe it would be a different experience if we went during a busier time. We ordered a cheesesteak waffle sandwich, which was awesome. You can’t taste the waffle, but it didn’t matter. The consistency was clutch and the flavor was awesome. For dessert we split a s’mores crêpe. Even just having half was almost too much because it’s very filling. I’d recommend sharing this dessert with a group of people. Overall the food was good, just wish the service was better. Would like to try brunch there sometime.

Wow, really good chocolate and you get what you pay for. I had already eaten and I already felt hungry standing in there. Got something to take back home for my parents and brother, pretty good. Check it out.

I love this place. It is the chocolate heaven in Philly. They have a lot of good options. I usually get the chocolate truffle cake and it is served warm so it melts in your mouth. I also love their fondue. They have some dinner options too with the dessert. But I have not tried any of those. Only one thing I did not like on their menu is the messy party for two. It is way too much whipped cream for me. But if you are a fan of whipped cream, you should get this one. Good service. Always my go to place for dessert in Philly!

REVIEWFORTHESTORE: What a pleasant shopping experience! I walked in the restaurant/store last Wednesday after work and was greeted by Shawn, a lovely saleswoman. I was in charge of buying 2 birthday gifts for coworkers after we pooled our funds together but I really didn’t know what I should buy or how to get the best bang for our bucks. Thank god for Shawn who guided me through the different gifts which can be customized and enhanced. It was a painless experience and I will be back!

This place is charming to say the least. It’s a cute lunch or dinner spot for date night or just with friends. I’m not blown away by their food, but it’s good. Nothing I can’t make on my own. The drinks on the other hand are so fun! I had this white chocolate concoction that was delicious! I often stop by here to grab chocolates for gifts. They are always good, a little pricey, but they have great packaging. The staff is very polite and the service is prompt.
