What a neat«experience» pastry shop in Philly’s Chinatown. I stopped by recently for a Cantaloupe Bubble Tea($ 2) and a Ham & Egg Sandwich($ 1). I have to say, the Bubble Tea was one of the best I’ve ever had and the sandwich was just fine for a dollar! The setup of the store is kind of neat– you’re basically surrounded by cases and cases of pastries, sandwiches, and the like. I do think that I go jipped a dollar at the register– but oh well. I’ll be back for a Cantaloupe Bubble Tea within the week!

I go to this bakery for my Chinese buns all the time(if you want other Chinese buns, I suggest you go to an adults website). With each bun less than $ 1, you can get filled up on tasty treats for very little cash. My all time fav buns are: bolo bao, cocktail bun, the bolo bao with the filling in the cocktail bun(I forget the name, but it is oval with the bolo top… it’s mad good, it’s my fav, and if you try it, I suggest you get the number to the nearest addiction rehab center). Cha siu bao is also good, so is the hot dog bun. The giant fluffy cupcake thing is also good, if you want something light and sweet(but not kick your ass sweet, it’s more of a fluffy sweet). Hmm, I’m hungry now

Really good and CHEAP pasteries. Looking for a cheap dinner then this is the place. They also have bubble tea which is really good too. Everything from Snow Mountain pastry, to a hotdog pastry. Make this a stop when you’re in Chinatown.

There are(were) 2KC’s Pastires and one has definitely closed. Not sure if it’s this one or not. Anyhow — love(d) the cheap, tasty cakes and pastry treats here.

For 60 cents, you can get delicious, filled pastries! Yes – it’s a fact! Sweet or savory. Not sure about the rest of the products, because I am so enamored with the cream cheese(w/or w/o pineapple), that I don’t bother with the rest. Even a ham and cheese pastry is same price – what a bargain! A must-have addition to any stroll through Chinatown.

I crave KC’s Pastries. Whenever I’m in the Reading Terminal/Chinatown area I have to stop and get some goodies from KC’s. I like their tiramasu and general French Pastries. And I always get one of their pastry horns. Of course, a trip to KC’s isn’t complete without a bubble tea.

Their cakes are good here. Sooo rich and creamy. However I tried to stay away from their buns because they weren’t made at the bakery itself, but rather shipped from another branch down in SouthPhilly. In mornings, on my way to work, I would see them unloading the trays of buns from a back of a truck. The trays were not covered or sealed completely, leavign the buns exposed to the dust and godknowswhat in the back of the truck.

On a hot summer day, nothing hits the spot like a bubble tea from KC’s. I like it plain – black tea with milk, sugar, tapioca, and ice. Simple, tasty, and cheap. Plus you get a cute cup with sea creatures on it instructing you to have good life, or something like that. Nice gesture, KC. I’m not brave enough to try any of their pastries that I haven’t tasted before, and that would be virtually all of them. But I hear that they are good, they’re fun to look at, & they’re very reasonably priced.

I went to Chinatown on my first day in Philadelphia and got a pearl tea! At a different place from this one. That one was two stars. But this one was a solid three. The pearls were just good enough, and the lady left out the sugar like I asked, and there was a bit too much ice. But I went back for a second one because it was like being home. In Philadelphia. At a conference at a big hotel while I was staying at a hostel. Oh well.

Try the Swiss rolls. I especially like the mocha. The cream buns are good, too.

This place smells heavenly. They have two locations in Philly, and they both sell the best pastries/baked goods in Chinatown. Prices area reasonable and they have some unique buns and cakes. I love their Snowy Mountain Top buns, so moist and topped nicely with a sugary crust that melts in your mouth.
