I have to say the late nice hour delivery is awesome, and they are quick. The baked lump crab meat is good, so is oysters Baton Rouge.

I ordered from them tonight and got a big ol dose of fresh Penicillin on my bread, in addition to the onions that I asked them to hold. Then they lied and put an employee on the phone when I asked to speak too a manager. Little does she know my husband is friends with the manager. I should have been refunded for my whole meal and not just the flounder hoagie. Keep your money in your wallets and spend somewhere else, unless you want to pay for a stomach pumping.

If I could give it half a star I could. Neighborhood places need to understand that service does count. When your staff is terrible no one wants the food.

Greens are great! Yams are pretty good too!
We got the fried catfish which came with two large pieces of fish. Also very good and a nice size piece of fish.
The 21 shrimp are small shrimp but they are pretty good too… just not very large!
Pretty fast delivery with only a $ 2 charge. Annnnd they are on grub hub! Yay!

I ate here multiple times. The only thing that is good is the ceaser salad with shrimp. Other than that, don’t waste your time or money.

Was excited to try this place out. The online menu had a relatively wide variety of seafood at reasonable prices. Ordered the whiting platter, which was a big mistake. The fries were chewy and lifeless, like they had been cooked 2 days earlier then nuked in the microwave right before serving. Can’t remember having worse fries. The whiting fish… did not taste fresh.

Very good place to get a wide variety of popular Philly seafood and other delicious items. My wife and I decided on a Flounder and Whiting platters. Both platters were under 20 bucks and were loaded to the gills (no pun intended).
Each platter contained about ⁵⁄₆ large golden pieces of fish, french fries (can’t forget the S/​P/​K) Tatar or cocktail sauce two pieces of white bread and Cole slaw. Everything was very good and seasoned well with just the right amount of fresh but not over salted.
My only complaint was that the food is bagged before your able to dress up your fish with hot sauce. The result is a scarce amount of hot sauce on your pieces of fish the gets absorbed quickly by the coating. If you like spice like myself, ask for extra hot sauce on the side. Will be back soon and would refer anyone to this bright and airy West Philadelphia darling.

This was my first time here and ordered the green mussels for which I got the blue ones. I don’t live in the area so I called and was told to bring them back for an exchange. I explained I don’t live nearby and was told to bring them back whenever I come back. What? Can’t b serious. Horrible customer service. It was bad enough that we had to wait almost an hour to get our food and then it’s wrong.

never again, I havent ordered from this spot in a few months and now I remember why. I only order the crab legs 2lbs usually. The last 2 times they were horrible, dried out an tasteless. Now tonight they tried to pass off 4 med size clusters as 2lbs. At almost $ 14.00 Lb. u gotta be kidding me. I will be returning these in the am for a refund of my $$$

AWESOME!!! I just moved into the area not to long ago and I always wanted to try J&P seafood. They have awesome seafood specials and the mussels in butter sauce are mouth watering!!! I had snow crab legs steamed to perfection! I also agree with the prices for such good seafood.

This is an okay spot. Had I played it safe, I would probably be giving a better review, but I got a little too bold.
My wife played it safe and got a medley of fried seafood. It included shrimp, coconut shrimp, clam strips, and crab cakes. All of it was very tasty. We had an order of fries and candied yams to share which was also very good.
Since we were celebrating the anniversary of when I proposed to my wife, I went all and got the Surf and Turf. The lobster was either overcooked, sitting around too long in the freezer, or both. It was a bit tough. And, there was no butter oil on the side. Maybe it was on it, but it needed more, especially since there were no natural juices.
Then, there was the steak. The menu said Filet Mignon. No way in hell was what I got Filet Mignon. I’m not sure what kind of steak it was, but it was more like a cheap piece of overcooked flank steak.
If you go here, stay safe and you’ll probably be okay. My bad for getting fancy at a West Philly seafood to go kind of spot.

the food is ok. i had the broiled salmon w/​rice & broccoli… nothing special. i had 2 doctor it up — add some seasoning. and butter b/​c the food was 2 dry. they can do better. the delivery man told me to «round» off my total and then told me 2 give him a dollar b4 i was about 2 give him a tip… funny…gave him a smaller tip 4 begging! i may give them another chance.

I wanted seafood yesterday and found this place on group hub. I got two stuffed shrimp MAC and cheese candies hams 3 scallops and I think it was a malaria fillets. I believe it was the nemo combo but I could be wrong. I think the problem was that everything needed more seasoning. Nothing really made me say wow or hit the spot because I was craving seafood. However, the cookies and cream milkshake I got was decent and the lady who delivered the food was really nice! No attitude or anything. I may try their fresh seafood store but won’t get that nemo combo again.

CUSTOMER Service… excellent since the fat lady or owner stopped working there at night. BEST DARN Whiting sandwich i Ever had ! the rest is great too.

I kind of love this place. I was able to get decent fried seafood at midnight in West Philly.
They have your basics: fried whiting, flounder, catfish, shrimp, scallops, crabcakes and they also have some combination platters with catchy names (the «free willy» and the «titanic» to name a couple), that come with two sides. My BF and I both had yams and mac and cheese that were gooey, kinda runny and all the way delicious
I had a mean tummy-​ache when I was done but i’m positive it’s because I was eating a fried dinner with yams and mac and cheese at damn near 1am. Well worth the pain.

I’ve visited this establishment since the re-​opening and really enjoyed the different seafood selections. I already have a few regular dishes I order: Stuffed Flounder, Mussels, and fried crab sticks. The sides are really good too… Collards, Yams, Mac-​n-​Cheese, and the required sides of either garlic rice or pasta with a few entrees. (Go with the rice!!)
They also have seating in/​out.

J&P redid or reopened their space in January. While they do hoagies and the like, the main stay is the seafood. We stopped by today and saw they had a special for 2lbs. of shrimp for 1lbs. price. We couldn’t resist. The shrimp was well done and tasty. I also found the people courteous. Warrants another visit to try the scallops and fried oysters.

Brand new store in West Philly selling fruits and vegetables! 4 stars automatically. They have a few tables laden with produce that is in fine condition and very fairly priced, i.e.: 3 apples for a dollar. But the main feature of J&P is the seafood. They have tons of fish, which I’ve never bought, but… it looks just fine to me. They’ll also steam it for you for free! You can also get plenty of lunch meat and hoagies at the deli, and they do catering. My 3 favorite things so far: the 2 women employees and 1 boat hanging from the ceiling above the deli. Plus the friendly vibe – that makes 4. Please patronize this local business offering fresh groceries in the land of pizza, hair salons, and Chinese food.
