Edit: GRILLADELPHIAISBACK! It’s now inside a Sunoco way out in Kennett Square, PA. 1697 E Street Rd, Kennett Square, PA19348 (610) 388‑7050 Old review: When is Grilladelphia coming back? No other cheesesteak compares, and each one I try keeps leaving me wondering if I even like cheesesteaks at all. Please come back, or tell me where you have relocated to, so I can rediscover my love for cheesesteaks again! I miss Grilladelphia — it was the only cheesesteak I have ever had that I really, really loved. I’ve tried 10 others in Philly(Pat’s, Geno’s, Jim’s, D’Alessandro’s, Gooey Louie’s, an Italian deli on the south side, Tony Luke’s), and I have never found one that even came close. I miss it badly. I can’t believe it’s gone. Can someone who really loved the cheesesteaks here, please tell me another one in Philly that is as good, or nearly as good? That would make my day. to reach me directly. Thank you.

Hasn’t been open in awhile. Word on the street is that it’s closed and being replaced by another business, possibly a Crown or Church’s Fried Chicken(CFC could be interpreted either way, I hope its a Crown though). Still giving it 4 stars though for how great it was when it was open.

My boyfriend called me up last night on his way home from work asking how hungry I was, «Just a little», I told him… because well, I wasn’t that hungry. So you better believe I had a heart attack when I saw the mammoth cheesesteak he brought me home from Grilladelphia when I really wasn’t that hungry. Being the good girlfriend that I am, I ate it. And like moses parting the red sea that holy cheesesteak found room in my tummy for it’s goodness. It was a chicken cheesesteak and it was great. Then I went into a food coma and went to sleep. I’d really like to try it again when I’m actually hungry, because it was gooood.

The cheesesteaks are decent, the service was pretty awful though. The trashy guy taking my order looked put out by my simple order and I had to remind him to put gloves on(gross). This place was always a little rough, but these days it’s pretty sad in there.

It’s 12 am. I’m pregnant. In Mt. Airy. Where do I send my boyfriend for a cheesesteak? Grilladelphia. It’s that good.(Get a bag of pork rinds on the side and you’re golden)

Best cheesesteak in the world. Don’t get uppity, as your opinion doesn’t matter anyway.

Only at Grilladelphia will you see a dude(possibly the owner/manager off duty?) with a gigantic split up the back of his jeans, exposing his non-underwear wearing ass. Really. Talk about a memorable ordering experience. Some awesome things about this place: 1. The lady behind the counter is all sorts of awesome. You’ll want to share drunken secrets with her. She’s the epitome of friendly but chill.(And she gave me an extra slice of pizza for free. Doot, doot!) 2. The fountain soda. They have just about every type of basic soda you could want(both Coke and Pepsi products), and also eight syrup flavors. Talk about adding flair, right? If you feel the need to get your root beer and chocolate concoction fix, this is your place. 3. They have a kick ass chip selection. Holy shit, this place kills Wawa in terms of salty chip goodness. They carry, like, every flavor of Doritos made. It’s pretty amazing. 4. The customers and other local oddballs hanging around. Fishtown’s finest! Would you expect any less? 5. The cheesesteak in a pouch. Wonderful creation, it is. The meat is fresh and lean and you won’t have to spend any time pulling strings of fat out of your teeth. If you’re a fan of this style of cheesesteak – cheese, onion and peppers(or whichever extras you choose) mixed right in with the chopped steak for a more even distribution of ingredients – then you’ll be a happy little piggy. Aw, shit. The cheesesteak pouch is tasty, tasty! One downfall with the food, though, is the pizza. Sure it’s cheap($ 7 for a pie; $ 1 for a slice) but the sauce is super sweet. Upon your first bite, you’ll think, «Whoa, sweet, I sort of like this,» but after the second, third, fourth bites you might feel like you’re licking a sugar bowl. Hello, diabetic coma waiting to happen! Pizza downer aside, this place rules. RULES, I tell you. (It’s my new 24-hour convenience store boyfriend. Sorry, Double Wa.)

Imagine this… it’s 3:30 in the morning. You’re a little tipsy and craving a steak. You don’t want to deal with Pat’s or Geno’s, but you want a solid steak. Where do you go? Believe it or not, the gas station at York and Aramingo. The cheesesteaks here are good. Really good. They’re big, the meat is quality, and the bread pulls it all together. This is a steak that can compete with anyone in the city, but it’s half the price. It’s one of my top 5 steaks. Bonus: They also serve pizza that’s $ 7 for the whole pie or $ 1 a slice. Tastes very similar to Lorenzo’s, which I like. A little bit dough-y with a sweet sauce. One of the better pizzas in Fishtown. How do they do it? Apparently it’s all cooked fresh. Only gets 4 stars because of the fries. What’s up with the french fries? If I could I would rate it 4.5. In any case, the Rock and Roll Exxon is definitely worth going out of your way for. It beats whatever they’re selling at 9th and Passayunk, and you don’t have to deal with the line and«ordering correctly.»

Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s in a gas station, Grilladelphia has some of the best cheesesteaks available in Philadelphia. I understand the magnitude of that statement, but in this case it is absolutely applicable. Considering the price is only $ 4-$ 7 depending on the size of steak and whether or not there are fries, Grilladelphia is the best bang for your buck you can find. Though you certainly won’t regret springing for the half pound sandwich, fries, and soda. The soda fountain is great, with various syrups, sodas, iced tea, and juice to choose from, any unconventional beverage lover is sure to make up a tasty concoction. The fries are pretty good, but also the standard french fry. Nonetheless, a great complement to the meal. Personally, I like the traditional provolone and fried onions on my cheesesteak, but they are happy to accommodate you with plenty of things. I once heard a cook there recommend american and whiz. Try it out maybe? No matter whether you’re a jaded cheesesteak aficionado or first-time Philadelphia visitor, Grilladelphia is more than just great food, it’s a great experience. Where else can you find a giant orange David Bowie painted on a gas station, after all?

As a good Philaburbian and American citizen, I believe we were put on this earth to eat cheesesteaks. Good Cheesesteaks. Non-negotiable delicious cheesesteaks that you must be a terrorist if you frown upon. To kick off my God given mission of shattering the false consciousness that’s been instilled in this city of where to get a good cheeseteak(i.e. Pat’s and Geno’s), I want to start with Grilladelphia. The experience is almost as good as the meal. Grilladelphia is a steakery located in a gas station. A gas station with rose tinted windows, and various legends of rock n roll painted outside. Although Griladelphia used to appear as faceless as any other gas station, it got a trendy makeover for a benefit concert last summer. Once you get past its bold exterior, to your left is the steakery and to the right is the gas station norm. What makes their cheesesteak unique is that it’s served in a «pouch»(though the traditional roll is avialabe). The pouch is just a large hollowed out round roll. The meat is flavorful, and they always lay down the right amount of cheese. For about seven bucks you can get a half pound combo that includes a cheesesteak, fries, and a soda with free re-fills. The soda fountain is heavenly. Aside from the usual big names in soda, they have various syrup flavors you can add as well as carbonated water. Combine the two and you can create your own soda. Grilladelphia serves a lot more then cheesesteaks(breakfast and cold pouches), and the gas station seems to have an exotic candy section. It’s also open 24 hours! So stop Unilocaling and get to Aramingo Ave.

wow. this place is like… delicious paradise! My boyfriend and I ordered from here tonight. I got the chicken finger platter and he got the ½ lb cheese steak loaded up with just about everything you can think of. Both were spectacular! The chicken satisfied my(slightly juvenile) quest for the perfect fingers, and it was served with a more than generous serving of fries. His steak came in a hollowed out itallian roll, and it was packed so full I can’t even comprehend how he ate it all! So we ate very well at a very reasonable price. No more Key Pizza when we’re in fishtown!

I’ve heard from a few friends that Grilladelphia serves up an awesome cheesesteak. Because Grilladelphia is inside of a gas station, I have to admit that I’ve always been skeptical. Still, after weeks of trying to meet up to try it out, my friend Ethan and I alignedc our schedules and made the trip last night. First of all, I know a lot of people like this place because it’s cheap. $ 7.50 gets you any size fountain drink, a large order of fries, and a ½ pound cheesesteak. It’s more food than you should want to eat. That being said, I ate the whole thing. Health wise, its pretty killer, but makes up for it in taste. First of all, the lady taking my order was extremely pleasant. Ethan told me that this isn’t usually the case, but they get points for having such a nice employee serve me on my first visit. We were getting take out, and she quickly made our food and packaged it up with ample napkins and ketchup. I ordered my steak in true Philly fashion: onions, peppers and cheese. And it was, surprisingly, the most flavorful steak I’ve ever had. The ratios of all of the ingredients were perfect. It was spicy, tangy, cheesy goodness. Also, the bread that they use is awesome. It’s made from round shaped«pouch» roll that has its insides scooped out and replaced with the steak. Its quite a delicious innovation. Even writing about it I’m getting a bit hungry. I didn’t think a steak shop inside the«Rock and Roll» Exxon could be this good. The sandwich is also served with excellent fries. Lastly, Grilladelphia’s website insists they use local, fresh produce, which is an added bonus. There’s not much to say other than this place is some of the best takeout around. I’m sold.
