This place was delicious. We love Gennaro’s but knew nothing about this place. We only found out about it because Gennaro’s was closed for the holiday weekend and had a sign in the window recommending Grace & Pat’s. The pizza was delicious. The sauce was wonderful(I love pizza with an emphasis on sauce). We also got a house salad, which was large enough to share with 4 people. The prices aren’t too crazy when you think about other artisanal pizza places in the city(Pizzeria Beddia, Pizzeria Vetri, etc.), although $ 3 a topping is a little steep. The place is cash only, which is fine, and BYO, which is wonderful! The waitress informed us that Gennaro’s will be taking this place over and offering their pizzas(along with G&P’s style of pizza). This will be great because we enjoy both! We highly recommend this place for all pizza lovers.

We visited Grace & Pat’s on a Friday night around 7:30pm, and it was almost completely empty. We thought this was a bad sign, but decided to stay, because we had loved the pizza at their other location(Gennaro’s Tomato Pie), and had been wanting to try Grace & Pat’s since it opened. The first annoyance was that it was cash only, with no ATM on site. I know there’s a tradition of Italian restaurants in South Philly being cash only, and Gennaro’s is cash only, but it’s still annoying. Nevertheless, we walked the several blocks to the CVS to get cash, and came back to the restaurant. Then, we saw the menu( ). Soda is $ 2.50(no refills), and extra pizza toppings are $ 3 each(half or whole pie is the same price). Seriously? Not offering refills on a $ 2.50 soda is so ridiculous and inhospitable, and I’ve never seen a restaurant charge $ 3.00 for a topping like mushrooms or red onions. We were still being optimistic, however. If the pizza was as good as Gennaro’s, it would be worth putting up with some hassle and nickle-and-diming. Unfortunately, the pizza was NOTHING like what we had experienced at Gennaro’s. The crust wasn’t crisp, it was actually tough. We both joked that we were going to need dental work after eating it. Not only was it tough, it tasted like it had been frozen. They also used the bare minimum of sauce and cheese on the pizza(the photo on their Facebook page looks nothing like the pizza that arrived at our table). I got the white pizza, and it was like a flat bread that someone had barely sprinkled cheese on, toasted, and then forgot in the toaster oven until it got tough. My boyfriend got the red pizza and the sauce was cold in some places, and it was also topped with very little cheese. Same tough, frozen-tasting crust. Grace and Pat’s gets 1 star for the appearance of the restaurant, and the very nice waitstaff. The restaurant is really cute, the music is at a nice volume, and the waitstaff are very pleasant and attentive. If they brought over the recipes from Gennaro’s this place would get 5 stars, even if they stayed cash only and were stingy with soda refills. If they stay the course with their current menu, this restaurant won’t last a year. East Passyunk has too many great, reasonably-priced restaurants, and too much great pizza for anyone to want to make a return visit to Grace & Pat’s. I really, really hope the owners take their Unilocal reviews to heart, and address the problems with the current menu.

The pizza is very good so I can’t give this place less than 4 stars. The menu is simple. But the price point and the fact that it’s cash only is kind of a turnoff when I’m in the mood for a basic pizza, especially with the number of pizza places within a short walking distance from Grace & Pat’s front door. And what is with the NYC subway signs? When you say«Grandma pizza» I think«Grandma’s house» which means an absurd amount of dusty trinkets, tons of pictures, and maybe a plastic-covered sofa. Both of my Grandmas are from NYC and never decorated their homes with subway signs. I’m just saying.

Got a grandma pizza to-go. Shocked at the $ 17 price for the tiny size with only one topping. Flavor on the white pizza was good but for the price could have gone to Brigantessa across the street to have pizza that I find amazing and worth the price. Maybe it just wasn’t my taste(I’m generally not into thin, dry crust) in pizza styles, but the price-to-size ratio really cemented the experience as one I won’t repeat.

What a disappointment. We went in on a Friday evening a few weeks ago with a large group and were not at all impressed. I’ll get to the positives first: 1. It is one of the larger dining rooms on Passyunk Ave, so it was a good choice for a large group 2. The bill was fairly inexpensive and the wait staff was accommodating 3. It was family friendly. A few of my friends had small children and there were other tables with families, so it is a nice option for something casual if you have children and want to go out on Passyunk. Now, on to the negatives: 1. The pizza dough was frozen! We literally saw a staffer bring up stacks of frozen pizza dough from the basement through the dining room. Not the way to make a good impression when you have Birra, Brigantessa, Stogie Joe’s and Marra’s all within short walking distance. Not to mention almost every pie that we ordered was burnt on the bottom. The sauce and cheese were decent, but the crust just had that unmistakeable frozen quality to it. 2. The antipasto dish clearly came from a jar. The artichoke hearts, mushrooms and roasted red peppers looked exactly like what you would see coming out of a jar… limp, covered in oil, etc. 3. The place is a BYOB… yet they brought out small rocks glasses for our wine. When asked if we could get some proper wine glasses(there were 8 adults and multiple bottles of wine after all), we were informed that they only have 4 wine glasses at the restaurant! Really? With the over-abundance of quality restaurants on Passyunk Ave, I see no reason to ever go back here, especially with the aforementioned quality pizza places all within walking distance.

We will def be back and were very impressed from start to finish with our meal. We had the meatballs for our son and my husband and I shared a Caesar salad, followed up by a red pizza with half pepperoni. I only wish they had high chairs considering my son isn’t exactly on the tall side but overall we will be back! Very small menu but still enjoyable maybe with time they will add a different pasta dish a week to the menu.

This place was really great. We had the meatball and salad combo appetizer and a large tomato pie with pepperoni. The salad was iceberg lettuce with pretty weak red wine vinaigrette. The meatball was great. The pizza was a nice change of pace from the francoluigis out there. Thin crispy crust and well made sauce. That being said, i wouldn’t order take out from here. This pizza is a little expensive and doesn’t deliver well. also the back area is gorgeous and its byob. So it’s worth making a night of it. Will definitely come back. Ps cash only

I don’t understand the fuss. Average pizza — being generous, unlike this shop, which skimps on just about everything, not like anyone’s grandma. And way overpriced. Sauce lacks complexity. Fresh mozzarella can be great but let us have some, please; a dollop just won’t do it. Ridiculously small size. I might pay this for Vetri or Santucci’s cause of the quality of the pizza, but frankly this addition to Philly’s already tepid pizza scene doesn’t merit the investment. I liked the thin crust; my wife didn’t. Liked the sausage. Just not much going on here.

Overall a disappointing experience. I had been putting off visiting due to my disdain for the NYC decorations in the heart of south philly but finally gave in. Meatballs were pretty good but served barely warm. I ordered a red pie with sausage. Sauce was good– sweet. Crust was lifeless and tasted frozen. Tonight was my first and last visit.

So disappointing. The bf and I finally picked up a large pizza tonight and found the dough lifeless, the sauce over-cooked, and each piece with only one teeeeeensy tiny dried up piece of cheese. I would barely call it a piece. Furthermore, the 18″ large pizza was a whopping $ 18. I live around the corner and was so excited for Grace & Pat’s to open but am sad to say this visit was my first and also my last.

The service at this place was excellent! The waitress was very attentive and accommodating. The décor is certainly not something you see a lot of in Philly(old NYC subway signs), which I found interesting. The pizza we had was good, not amazing. for a place that offers only a few choices, we’d expect those few choices to be the best. The amount of ingredients in the pizza was too small. The taste was good but not something amazing. I feel we got less for what we paid. I could give it another try; the experience was good the place was immaculate, the service was great. The food could offer a little more for what we pay.

My husband and I are huge fans of their other location, Gennaro’s. Menu keeps it simple with a few salad, meatballs, antipasto, and pizza. Cash only and BYO. There is a cute outdoor mosaic courtyard for outdoor dinning. Pizza was very good, but we still love Gennaro’s.

We had the tomato and mozzarella salad and ordered a grandma red pizza with red onion and mushrooms. Both were delicious. Very very good pizza. The service was good and the place itself is really fun. Definitely check it out– cash only and BYOB.

It was OK pizza for the price. There are better places in South Philly for sure. The salad had pretty mediocre ingredients – unripe tomatoes, iceburg, a little bit too vinegary dressing. Pizza was good but pricey for what it is. Awesome crust, good cheese, mediocre sauce. Not a bad place to try out to see if you like it.

Wonderful ambience and delicious food. The menu is certainly no frills but the quality makes it all worthwhile. We had the Caesar salad, and meatballs for appetizers. They were so delicious. The meatballs are something you find in an Italian grandmother’s kitchen. We ordered the tomato pie with meatballs and mushrooms. I do not exaggerate when I say it’s the best Sicilian pizza I had in Philly. The crust is crunchy, sauce tangy and mozzarella fresh. Delicious! The only draw back is they ran out of stuff(like tomatoes) but we can certainly forgive that considering they’re new. They’re also cash only(one of my pet peeves) but they make up for it by being BYOB.

I was bummed when I heard of Da Vinci’s closing and a pizza place moving in… I’m now eating my words and their amazing pizza. Located in a prime spot across from the Singing Fountain, I went last night with my husband and a friend for a late dinner. They were super accommodating and sweet– even though we got there much later than predicted. lol. We were led to the back garden area and settled in. The waitress had our wine opened and we began perusing the menu. There aren’t a ton of menu options, and you don’t need them. A few salads, a roasted red pepper appetizer, an artichoke platter, the aforementioned pizza and some dessert options(cannoli dip anyone? :)) We ordered 2 of the red gravy pizzas with the hope of having a ton leftover for our lunches the next day… while we did end up having a doggie bag, there wasn’t a ton in there because we couldn’t stop eating! It was incredible pizza. The crust was thin but not like flat bread thin. It was just thin enough to have a crunch, but thick enough to hold up to all of the sauce and cheese without bending. It’s the pizza of my dreams… not kidding. Add in that it’s BYOB and a 5 minute stroll from my house and they now have a regular customer! We loved it so much that we’re bringing their takeout pizza to The Mann for The Godfather movie night. Couldn’t think of a better fit.

Grace and Pats has made it’s new home on East Passyunk Ave where the former Da Vinci Restaurante used to reside. This place is special indeed. It is pizza all the way from Lombardi’s in New York’s little Italy with the same owner running the joint!(And what a friendly and personable guy he was. So glad we had the pleasure of meeting and chit chatting with him.) Upon entering you are greeted by the lovely hostess who let’s you choose where you would like to sit. We chose to sit out back and we are glad we did. The back yard seating area is like a little sneak peak of the famous Philly artists Isaiah Zagar’s Magic Gardens. The mosaic tile art makes you feel like you have escaped to an enchanted little paradise. But let’s not forget the inside which is equally whimsical with it’s New York City eclectic vibe. The good stuff… we ordered a large half white and half red pizza. Their pizza is Sicilian style and it was most delicious. The dough was thin, crispy and buttery. Perfect cheese to sauce ratio and the sauce was just lovely. The pizza was so good we ate the whole large pie!!!(Extra gym time for me but well worth it). After our pizza we ordered dessert. I had a vanilla bean cheesecake which was utter simplistic perfection and my husband had the Napoleon waffle which was basically a waffle ice cream sandwich. With being outside and eating his waffle sandwich he said he felt like he was down the shore and that’s always a lovely feeling. Grace and Pats is grand spanking new at just a week old and I know once word gets out, this place will always be jammed packed! It is also a byob! Hello wine!!! Right now the menu offers appetizers, pizza and dessert but they will be offering more items in the future. Can’t wait to go back and next time with my own bottle! This place does not disappoint and the check was very reasonable!(Cash only) We are calling this our new pizza spot for sure!
