Humongous servings of fresh fruit salad– you can’t go wrong! Even the small($ 3.00) is filled beyond the brim.(The container won’t even close and is held together by rubber bands). A free banana with every purchase. Bags of cherries and grapes are also available. What you will get: grapes, a couple of cherries, mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple, and an orange slice. Get there by 2:30 on hot days because the fruit sells out quickly.

You can buy sodas and water here, and bags of freshly prepared mango and pineapple. They also have nice big bags of red and green grapes. I am a cheapo these days, however, and go for the orange for 75 cents. Beats the heat and is a healthier alternative to anything else in the vicinity. I’ve had their fruit salads too, and just like most fruit stands they are delicious.

I am not a cart food person — but every once in a blue moon(especially in spring & summer when a girl’s mind turns to… …fresh fruit) I get fruit salad from this cart or from the one on 17&JFK. A small is $ 3.00, is actually HUGE and they give you a banana with it. If you want all(or mostly mango) it’s $ 3.50. They usually sell little bags of grapes or occaisionally cherries for $ 1 — $ 2 in season. Hooray for non-junky fast food. Hooray for fruit. Let’s hope it’s clean.(I’m always leery of this.)

Since the 15th& Walnut cart disappeared a couple weeks ago, and the 17th& Chestnut cart seems to be on hiatus as of this week, I’ve had to seek out other options. Luckily, the cart on 16th& Walnut is still going strong. I stopped her for a $ 4 mango shake before work today. It was pretty darn good. I’ll need to stop back here to evaluate their fruit salads, starting at $ 3. They also sell bags of peanuts in the shell, which I might take them up on at some future point.
