I got takeout from this place for the first time last night. I was so hungry and nothing else I wanted was open. It was delicious. I’ve lived in the area for years but was reluctant to try out the chinese places behind bullet proof glass. Its not in a very good area and I would have passed right by in the past and never even noticed it. I got the shrimp, beef, and chicken in garlic sauce and will definitely be trying other menu items in the future!

They deliver and in my neighborhood that says a lot! For whatever reason getting food businesses other than cheese steaks and pizza deliveries is next to impossible. I live in a diverse area but yet in still we get nada(smh) oh and you can pay with credit/debit over the phone. We pretty much order the same things. I get a mixed vegetable shrimp that’s not on menu, chicken lo mein, sautéed broccoli and pork fried rice with added egg. I appreciate First Wok delivering and as long as they do and the food doesn’t change My family and I will keep ordering. Another plus … Food always comes piping hot!!! and quick!

As the other commenters mentioned, I too was apprehensive about ordering my dinner from here. I opted for the spare rib tips and Singapore mei fun… it was so DAMNGOOD! Yesss! It looks sketchy and not like the cleanest place. It goes to show that you should never judge a book. The food was flavorful and exceptional. #ThatIsAll #OrderingAgainTonight

True, they are not in the best part of town. I get nervous whenever I go pick up food by myself. It might be worthwhile if they delivered or accepted credit cards, but nope, if you want their food, you have to pick up and carry cash. That is just asking for trouble. I am not even sure why they have dine in tables. I am torn about the food. It can be hit and miss depending on what you get and who is doing the cooking. Their appetizers, General Tso, and garlic sauces are usually good. The rest is pretty average. Soups vary a lot. My biggest complaint is that they ALWAYS forget at least 1 item in my order, so I always have to pull everything out of the bag to check so I do not have to go back a second time. The main reasons I keep going back is because the price is good for what you get, they are close, and reasonably fast. Otherwise, I would probably hit Shan Chuan on Ridge. They deliver and take credit card, but are a little pricier and their quality varies a lot more. House of Jin is super expensive and not any better. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Cheap, fast, and tasty. Even though it’s located in a scary neighborhood and you order through bulletproof glass, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the food is pretty darn good. It’s cash only, but very affordable for the portion size. We got the Singaporean noodles which are quite tasty. Plenty of curry powder and chili flakes to give it a lot of flavor. And it was packed with an assortment of veggies and protein. I quite enjoyed it. We also got the broccoli chicken which I thought was a bit greasy, but also quite good. I’m glad we asked for less sauce because it was plenty saucy to even with that adjustment.

I know what you’re thinking — if you’ve ever had the unfortunate opportunity to make your way down Chelten Avenue and pass this place, it definitely doesn’t look like anywhere you’d wanna stop in for Chinese. But this place has the BEST General Tso’s chicken I’ve had so far in Philly. It was cooked perfectly crispy with a sweet-spicy sauce, unlike the soggy chicken from all the other places around that I swear just use the sweet and sour sauce for their dishes. I never would’ve thought to try this place, but my roommate had only an hour between glasses at PhilaU, and this was the first place Google Maps found for me in the area. My roommate really liked the pork lo mein, too. Yeah, this place has the stereotypical bulletproof glass, and the 10 minutes I was waiting in there I was afraid for my life and was positive the rims on my car were gonna be missing when I went back out, but everything went well and I’ll definitely be back.
