I don’t like to say bad things about places, so this review will be short. The beer was cold, although they were out of the first beer I ordered. There did appear to be wait staff in the general vicinity of my table. And there was no wait. However…the service was not above average or even average. My «angus burger» was clearly a frozen patty. At least there were 2 of them. He broccoli rabe was very fiberous. The chips were meh. The roasted chicken, potatoes, and sauce were actually very tasty. That’s about it. A little disappointing, in my opinion.

I travel into the city a handful of times a year via Septa. I have made a habit of meeting friends at the Field House. Over the last 4 years I have noticed a steady decline in the service and the quality of the food & beverages. This weekend I was there after happy hour on Friday. After waiting 10 minutes to be waited on(there was zero crowd at the bar) I was given a beer list. I asked for 4 different beers. They were out of each. I asked for a club soda and finally settled on a sangria. The sangria was horrible. I drank maybe 3 sips and asked for the check. The server never checked on me or asked why I was leaving a full drink. If you are in the area I would recommend strolling a couple of blocks in either direction to find a better bar.

Great selection of beers on tap. I always bring visiting friends and family here for a Philly cheesesteak. As odd as it sounds, they have one of the best in the city. The meat is well seasoned, and they use a white cheese sauce that is just amazing. It comes with fries and is highly recommended. I also recently tried the fried pickles and enjoyed those, too, although they are thick and heavily breaded. That’s something I didn’t mind, but could be off-putting to others. The service is very hit or miss here unfortunately. I’ve often had to wait a long time to get the attention of a host or server. I keep going back though!

We had an engagement celebration for our friends and I have nothing but wonderful feedback to give about the staff! They were so helpful and adapted to exactly what we needed! I highly recommend this to anyone especially who is hosting an event!

This place is absolutely terrible. I have lived in Philadelphia 8 years and this is the last place you should go. I ordered 3 drinks which took about 20 minutes to receive and it was $ 40. Three, 6 oz, red bull vodkas which were about the size of a shot were $ 40. At $ 13 each, you should be at a much nicer establishment with much better service and more than a sip of a drink. This place is horrible and I will never go back. Please do not go.

While in Philly on work, I wanted to catch some playoff hockey. My hotel had the game blacked out on their DIRECTV and so the The Field House it was! Went two times during the week. One night it was a bit slow, the other it was pretty packed. Sat at the bar and a table. Good service, not stellar, but as long as my beer doesn’t run out then who cares! Cheesesteak was good, as were the pineapple barbecue wings. The home cut fries are awesome. I’d go back the next time I find myself in Philly for work or travel.

Went here for a work happy hour and the service was extremely slow. I waited at least 20 minutes to get a canned beer while my coworker waited the same length of time to be told that they were out of the beer she wanted! I do understand that we had a big group but cannot understand why we didn’t have more than one server for our party as it was a planned event. On top of that our waitress had a bit of an attitude problem and did not acknowledge how slow the service was. I didn’t eat much apart from a couple of nachos which were extremely soggy. The drink prices were reasonable and the space was nice and we had our own private room for the event, thus the two stars. There are a lot of other pubs and sports bars in Philly to choose from, that I would never choose to come to this place on my own.

I like coming here with large groups of people for Happy Hour. There is always plentiful seating! There is pretty nice views of the TVs regardless of where you are. As a group of ~10, we experienced really attentive service. Someone got spinach and artichoke dip, the hummus plate, and the kettle chip nachos, and all three were very tasty, and worth the calories! I remember that in the fall they had a nice selection of fall beers(my weakness), so I will definitely have to make a trip then. With the Patco and Septa stops and Reading Terminal right next door, this place is overly convenient !

We went to Field House twice during our trip. Once for dinner and once for the March Madness tournament. The first time the place was DEAD. We were probably two of the 7 people in there at dinner time. We started with the bacon popcorn which was a BIG letdown. It was basically a bucket of flavorless popcorn with some crumbled bacon and peanuts sprinkled on top. I ordered a brick oven pizza for dinner which was really good and my buddy ordered the Cheesesteak which was mediocre but that’s only because you have to be compared the likes of Pats and Genos. Lots of beers on tap. Waitress was a little slow but managers were on top of it. Overall not the best place to stop in for a bite but GREAT place to catch sporting events with a great selection of beer.

Nice atmosphere and great service. It was easy to find and bigger on the inside then expected. The service exceeded my expectations and the variety of beer exceptional.

Super nice! the food is underwhelming and limited like poor at best. But the staff is amazing super nice and thoughtful and playful. Its like if u went there and one of your friends from college wrkd there, Thats how they treat you. I had a guy with a pony tail and he was awesome, well like a long drooping man bun. None the less awesome! He had great personality and cared about my conversation. If i could switch one of my family memebers out to fit him in, i would. He would take my grandmom spot. shes evil.

Great food, drink were strong, awesome fried pickles! Only thing is that the service was a little lacking, we didn’t know where to sit and there was not really a hostess. Finally we did sit but then waited for a waitress for at least 10 mins. Next time I will sit at the bar.

I was here last night for the superbowl all you can eat beer and wings. I just want to point out that the hostesses and managers are thoughtful and helpful. I must say however for 35 dollars this was not even close to worth it. The waiter was HORRIBLE! I was a party of two and watched the larger tables served 20 times over. The wings weren’t good and I actually paid 90 dollars with tip and left at halftime. I would not come back here. What’s the point of all you can eat and drink without table service to take your order.

I say save your money. Go somewhere else. I like the cheese sauce on the Philly cheesesteak but that’s all this place has to offer. Service was terrible. We got seated next to the basketball games so it was IMPOSSIBLE to talk to my husband. We didn’t get checked on until our food was gone, a good 10 – 12 mins after we received our food. May come sit at the big bar for a drink but not a great dining experience for us at all. Doubt we will be back.

Sweet Bartender, great choices of crafts but it was freezing in there and convinced me to get their chili, which was excellent. Avoid the bacon popcorn. Bacon bits are like pebbles and inedible. Manager wandering by like a lost cause didn’t notice patrons wearing coats. Go on a warm day!

The food was subpar and average. Room temperature. The wait was horrendous. It took 40 minutes to get chips and soup! Wait staff didn’t seem to care about the wait or that we had a diabetic friend who needed food pronto.

Solid sports bar in center city Philadelphia. I often meet my friend here to catch sports games. The layout of the bar area and seats drives me crazy, but I will say the food, atmosphere, and bloody Mary makes it worth a trip. Had a mushroom(Kennett square) pie, it was delicious. Stole a few of my buddy’s short rib kettle Nachos, also very solid. 4 stars for layout and beer prices 5 stars for food and atmosphere. So if give it 4.5 if I could. Check it out, it’s a cool spot.

This place has a good location but a pretty lackluster bar staff. We came during happy hour on a Monday before we headed to the airport for a couple beers and there didn’t seem to be any impetus for the bartenders to greet and serve us. The three behind the bar didn’t seem to have any particular section as we interacted with all of them at some point. They couldn’t locate a liquor they needed for a drink that was on their happy hour menu. And it took us several minutes to track one down to close out the tab. Maybe the weekend crew is a bit more upbeat.

We have been there several times. Recently we were there and had my wristlet stolen. We were very cautious and knew when it happened. Apparently this happens all the time there. We were told they do not have cameras– nor is there anything they can do. I asked them to call the police to file a report– they actually hesitated. A restaurant like that with no cameras!!! Just advice to hold onto everything you own when you are in there. I do like the atmosphere and location. Would be rated better if they had cameras. Whether we go back is unsure.

I’m a penn state alumn so j come here for a lot of the game watch parties. Last night they shut down filbert street and played the game on a big screen. It was a great idea but not executed the best. That’s how I feel about a lot of the watch parties. And I am only reviewing this place based on those. The layout of the bar which I guess isn’t exactly their fault isn’t the best. Total congestion crazy lines weird rules like no liquor outside but beer was allowed. I’ve had some of the bar appetizers and they’re like typical bar food. It’s an average place to watch a game.

This place is perfect for what I need it to be, a place to catch my Florida Gators football. The big ass pretzel is very good as is the cheese sauce but say no to the horseradish mustard, it’s foul, and speaking of foul, what on earth is this cheesesteak??? Were in PHILLY guys, you can’t do one of the 4 philly food groups this bad! We also had the hummus plate which we will get again but were not coming here for dining, we come here for the college football and the many roars that accompany all the games throughout the college gameday. Our particular bar wasn’t big but it had enough beer options for us and our waitress was super friendly and took good care of our group. It gets 4 stars from me for what I want it to be, a noisy + fun sports bar, just wish the cheesesteak didn’t stink!

My mom came to Philly with dreams of going to Reading Terminal Market. I’m like oh yeah sounds like a cool place back home! …with 10x more people and things. I panicked… and we ended up here. It’s the complete opposite, ha. It is a pretty dead place, and it’s huge inside. I didn’t think it was necessarily a 2 star experience but certainly not more than 3. Our server was super sweet and helpful, and the food was alright, but certainly not worth the cost. I can’t imagine coming here to watch sports unless it actually does fill up. And even then, ehhh. It was just like a place to go to because it was there. And for that purpose, it’s a-ok. Certainly nothing memorable and definitely don’t see a reason why anyone would come out of their way to eat or drink here.

Went here today to hang out with some friends from MeetUp for a pubstomp, Dota 2TI5. Environment here is friendly. The service was great. We did not have to wait for a table. Food is good here. I had the field house wings, sausage pizza, town dock dock calamari, and kettle chips. Their field house wings was excellent, the texture of the wings was just how I like it. The sausage pizza was good as well. The only one that I did not really like was the calamari, it was bland. Overall my experience here was great.

I have been to Field House before and after I moved to Philly. It seems to get worse and worse. First visited for the 2008NCAA Basketball Championship game. The place was full, the drinks were flowing the food was actually quite good if I remember correctly. Would give this experience five stars. The second time I visited was because my friend and a number of his friends were comped free happy hours. That’s right, free(well) drinks! I think we were there for three hours and I definitely proved the«there is no such thing as a free lunch» wrong. I dominated free drinks. I give this experience five stars. Another time prior to moving into Philly I came here following a wedding. Admittedly I had a couple cocktails at the wedding however Fieldhouse cut me off after one drink. I attribute this to the airhead bartender’s inability to hear me say«Yuengling, please» due to the crummy cover band and other noise. Well, joke’s on Fieldhouse, I had all my buddies buy me beer. Negative eleventy stars this time. Fast forward to the 2013ALDS. Shockingly since I’m from Detroit I like the Tigers so myself and a buddy came up to watch a game on a Saturday night. We get a table and ask the waitress to turn the game on. Ten minutes goes by, nothing… but we get beer. Twenty minutes goes by… nothing. Thirty… screw this, we’re leaving. I wanted to skip out(no, not really) but my friend thought better of it. Bad service. One star. For some odd reason I recently thought Fieldhouse would be a good date spot(derp derp). While I remembered the food being decent I ordered fish tacos for me and the date. Disgusting. I mean I’d take a box of Mrs. Paul’s over the crap they served me and save $ 10. For the record I went out with the girl a second time but I don’t see it going anywhere. Two stars. My most recent experience was this past weekend. Friends came to town to see the City and they have a kid under 2. Fancy is not an option and its 2PM on a Saturday so my options were limited. We checked out Reading Terminal then since it was close and assured cold beer we ate at Fieldhouse. I ordered the Cuban. I feel like the meat, cheese and pickle were slapped between two gym socks. Dry and not worth the $ 13. The kettle chips, however, were delicious. Decent server. Two stars. Overall, two stars. Fieldhouse has taught me I need to become much more creative when it comes to dates and bringing in people from out of town.

Meh. The place was very spread out and kind of dead. Probably could have used another hand behind the bar to better take care of the customers on the night I was in there. Not a whole lot of seats for such a huge bar.

The only reason for this many stars is my initial bartender.(#10). He was quite helpful in getting me a local pale ale and suggesting a good sandwich(the Cuban). I sat with my beer for a whole period of hockey before he came back to tell me my sandwich was given out by accident, but they would comp me a beer to make up for it. Cool, I’m in no rush. I get my new beer, my sandwich eventually comes and I had a decent dinner. Finish my sandwich, my second beer and waiting to get another one. As my initial bartender(#10) is no longer around its only a shorter bearded guy(#15) that seems only knows how to complain. Ignoring me the entire time as i sit with an empty plate and empty cup for ANOTHER entire period of hockey. Once the game goes into overtime he immediately starts verbally complaining how he has to stay at work now. Sorry bud, but this is your job and you’re technically open until 2am(it’s only 10:45pm). If you’re in Chinatown and looking for a sports bar pass on this place. Unless you’re lucky and score #10. #15 can go somewhere.

I mostly like this bar because it’s a pretty standard sports bar and it’s food and drinks reflect that. The space is really big so that’s a nice bonus and it’s easy to find and very centrally located in the city. I mostly hold a soft spot for it because it draws a pretty big crowd for Michigan State fans during march madness and I absolutely love the experience and the space it provided for all of us. I cannot wait to be back here during football season and cheer on the Spartans with all my fellow MSU alum in the fall.

Went here as a part of a bar crawl. Arrived at around 2−3pm on a Saturday. There were seats at the bar. Music playing at a normal level– had many different games on – hockey and Phillies. Bartender was a hot female– nice but either she couldn’t hear me or didn’t know anything about beer. I asked her if the one beer on tap was apple and she said«no that’s Stella, the one next to it is» and then gave me Goose Island 312– which was on special. Not what I wanted but I didn’t have the energy to say anything else once she gave me the beer. We got the bacon popcorn… Holy hell it was way too salty. And it had. peanuts on it? Kind of weird. Overall an ok atmosphere and environment. Decent prices. I think the food prices seemed a bit much.

I’m pretty sure this bar isn’t my scene, but I stopped by for a company sponsored happy hour(earlier in the night) and it turned out to be a pretty good time. Our waitress was very attentive to our private room and was very quick with the drink orders. The food they provided for the room was pretty simple, but not bad. I tried the dumplings, the mini cheesesteaks, the chicken skewers and the bruschetta. It was just enough to hold us over. Beer wise they had a really good mix of your standard beers and some pretty good microbrews. The Dales on tap was a real surprise. I think the thing that surprised me the most about this place is that the bathrooms were actually very nice. From the negative reviews I expect a trough, but it was quite the opposite.

DH&DD, a friend and I were trapped in the convention center during a freezing cold Flower Show and since Hard Rock was packed(35 minute wait) we snagged a table at the Field-Hole. Lunch was unsurprisingly unremarkable. My Cobb Salad(regularly $ 14 with chicken) was jacked up to $ 20 when I asked to sub steak. 4 oz maybe of just OK steak. 5 cherry tomatoes cut in half, a few chunks of avocado and some over-cooked bacon chunks/chips. I have had better and worse Cobbs. The best part? Our server Dana was an over-worked sweetheart. She did her very best in a dining room packed with kids and families weary from the Flower Show. Prices are a bit too high for the sub-par«formula» bar food that is served.

I’ve been here a handful of times in the past — being right above the train station, it’s just the place you go to kill time while waiting for the train. I never thought too much of this place either way, but that all changed with my most recent visit here. Me and some girl friends were getting together for a Galentine’s dinner this past weekend. I sprained my foot recently so wanted to find a place that wouldn’t be packed with all the Vday craziness, and also something not too far walking distance from the train due to my sprained foot. I thought Field House would be perfect! We had an absolute blast and were at FH for hours! Our server Taylor was fantastic and we really enjoyed her! The food was great, everyone was very happy! Little did I know that there was a surprise in store for me that the FH was in on! My boyfriend has been deployed and not here for Valentine’s Day. He knew where we were going that night, so he called the FH from overseas and told them what our plans were, and that he wanted to pay for our dinner. Our server had to come up with a creative way to figure out if it was, in fact, me. She pulled it off and I had no idea. When we asked for the bill, out came the manager and a whole bunch of other servers. The manager told us he couldn’t bring the bill because my boyfriend had already taken care of it from overseas! I lost it and cried with tears of happiness! :) So many thanks to the FH for making my Vday much more special than I thought it would be! I know my boyfriend very much appreciates your willingness to do this for him as well. FH will now forever hold a special place in my heart, and when my boyfriend comes home from deployment we plan on celebrating there!
