Organic snack options at an airport? Yes, please. I don’t trust CIBO for their standard shops, or their crappy salads/sandwiches/yogurt parfaits they try to sell in this mini-organic shop. Just skip over that and grab one of the 100 different packaged organic/natural snacks they have. CIBO, you’re onto something here. I suggest you open these in every terminal on the West/East coasts and let the next generation of Americans who won’t touch GMO/non-Organic food pay your bills. We’ll pay more to eat real food. I say take your airport biz connections & partner with Whole Foods to fill these organic mini-shops with fresh, organic prepared foods delivered daily.

The dried fruit is great, the grapes are hit and miss. There’s some odd stuff(like the kale chips); the overall impression is like the impulse-buy section of a Trader Joe’s. Yes, they have kale chips; yes, I’ve tried them; no, I’m not planning on getting them again. CIBO’s definitely a step up from the usual terminal grab-and-go shops, but the produce is a bit uneven; there were certainly more tired grapes than you’d get at a supermarket. Similarly, the boxed salad was fine, and had a reasonable little shot of vinaigrette, but wouldn’t grab your attention outside of an airport.

Airport food tends to be a bit questionable. Even if you head to a wine bar or notable chain restaurant, you’re taking a gamble ordering anything too fancy or delicious sounding. That’s why I liked CIBO so much. My coworker and I shared two paninis(we couldnt make a decision). Both(portabella and prosciutto) were delicious! the parmesan shoestring fries were also very good. I think the three of us finished all the fries — and we got a huge portion. I may dislike the Phille airport(who doesn’t?) but I will have a silver lining for all future visits.

In the Philly terminals, you have two nicer choices — CIBO or Vino Volo. It’s yummy. I liked eating in a tiny re-created restaurant. I appreciate real silverware. I liked the table setups. I had a spinach salad and no one balked that I changed things around in it. The waitress wasn’t quick enough in clearing my plate or bringing me water(actually, I never got another glass of water ever again). In an airport, you do not have unlimited time, or at least, she should not assume I have unlimited time. So quit clearing the empty table next to mine and pay more attention to the live customers you still have.

**I should clarify: This is as good as it gets for AIRPORT food** I truly dug this place! It was a welcome departure from all things fried, processed and artery clogging. We had only 15 minutes before boarding and although I wasn’t hungry at the time I wanted to grab something snacky for the flight home. This place was perfect! They had a ton to choose from: Sandwiches, wraps, pasta salad, mini-wraps, vegetable/organic/potato chips, fruit and cheese plates, quality chocolates etc, etc. And it was all neatly and individually packaged making it perfect for carry-on. The shop itself is small but the setup is practical & efficient. The line snakes between the main 3 walls and a small island-like display in the middle of the store so you can do all of your browsing and shopping while in line. Again, it is prepackaged food but for the purpose of travel it’s perfectly effective and acceptable. The price is a little high but it’s the airport so you’ll basically get screwed wherever you go. It’s better to get screwed and actually ENJOY your food!
