Very disappointed with my food. Ordered a delivery of chicken in Sichuan sauce. It was completely lacking any flavor. I had looked up the ratings before ordering but was disappointed with my choice.

Nice folks. Great food. Very attentive service. Plain interior. Right next to(if not on) the Penn campus.

I’m from Temple University(go Owls) but I just ate dinner here with my family. The place is in heart of Penn and surprisingly, it was not bad finding a metered parking! I didn’t do the ordering, but my aunt ordered dishes from thier«Chengdu specials». These dishes are not your typical«Chinese take out». The chicken was light and crispy with hot pepper shavings drizzled on top. There was a glass noodle/pork dish that was perfectly cooked with a spicy touch! After the spice, I ordered some drinks. The chai tea bubble tea and the homemade lemonade was fantastic . I really enjoyed my experience. All the staff were attentive and pleasant. I will come back without a doubt and I definitely recommend stopping by if you happen to be in the area.

SO I ordered lunch to go and upon entering the restaurant, I saw a small mouse right by the door leading to the kitchen area. I am considering calling a state agency health department to ensure the safety of the patrons.

Instead of going for typical Americanized Chinese food, go for their authentic Chengdu food ! This is the best place for your hunger of spiciness hands down. Every dish I ate(ordered 5 or 6 dishes) is well seasoned and cooked well. The shrimps were fresh and juicy. My personal favorite will be the dumplings with a special spicy sauce. The sauce matches heavenly with the dumplings and it tastes awesome to the last drop. I also recommend their handmade lemonade. Amazingly, it doesn’t leave your mouth with an acid-y taste. An easy 5 stars from me.

I went there for the first time with my landlady and other friends. I had one of the best food so far in Philly. I used to intern at the hospital, but never really came there for lunch. The manager was really kind and polite. We had fried rice, Chengdu Ma Po Tofu, dry pepper style-fish fillet and Chengdu Kung Po style– chicken. Although I am heading back to Indiana, but I would love come back to this restaurant with friends in July.

I’ve been to Chengdu and loved the food there. I thought the food here was very close to what I had in Chengdu, especially their Salt and Pepper(flash fried) Chicken dish. The chef supposedly trained with a famous chef in Chengdu and was able to bring the recipes here. I also recommend their Singapore Noodle.

I’m glad this place is open late night but that’s about the only positive. I’ll leave aside the slightly rude people who work there and focus on the food. Got the general Tsos chicken and asked for it extra spicy. The chicken was super rubbery and completely unseasoned. There was hardy any flavor at all and I had a hard time eating any of it even though I was extremely hungry. There are so many better Chinese places around the area so definitely avoid if you can.

This is your typical Chinese take out place +$ 5 most likely for rent to have a brick and mortar place at Penn. Terrible service, forgot my order completely when eating with my group and then got angry when I told them to cancel it because I was on my lunch break at work and it was already 45 mins into my hour. Bubble tea was also hot garbage. Don’t pay their rent for them, do yourself a favor and go order from the carts during the lunch rush save yourself the $ 5 extra and put it towards splurging in Chinatown when you have the free time and get real Chinese.

I would give this place a solid 4 stars. It has great food and lots of options. I love the tradition of being served hot tea when first seated. I don’t come here often but when I can it’s always a good dining experience. It can get busy during lunch so get there early. They have a great lunch special as well. Try it out! You won’t be disappointed.

Try the sweet and sour chicken. Usually my least favorite dish, but here it’s my favorite! Nicely sized chunks of real chicken breast fried crunchy with a lovely tangy sweet sauce and pieces of fruit. I only came here because a friend recommended it and although the ambiance isn’t exactly ‘date night’ the food is well worth it. Very good

I’ve only eaten here once and I will not be coming back anytime soon if ever. Came in randomly with a friend for lunch. Were seated at a table where you are offered free tea. Looked at the menu and saw that alot of «chinese takeout items i had been accustomed to were not offered. Asked with they could substitute chicken for tofu in the general tso’s(which was not on the menu) waitress came back and said no problem. Food came out pretty quick but was really a letdown. It was clear that I had made a mistake. The tofu was soggy, and by what I could gather they had attempted to bread it but since the tofu was still engulfed with water, the egg/breading did not stick and it had formed a very unappetizing glob that was falling off the tofu. The general tso’s sauce was just not that at all, barely a hint of sweetness and no heat, the soy was overpowering. My best guess is that they had probably just taken some tofu they were preparing as tofu with soy sauce(which was an app) and re-purposed it. Either way it was the worst Chinese meal i had in recent memory. I do give them a second star for trying, but it was an epic fail, wont be coming back

Wanted to try since I have my medical and dental offices nearby. Stopped by for lunch today. They have a lunch menu. You get spring roll or soup with your entrée. I had soup — egg drop soup and the Vegetarian Buddha Delight. Choice of vegetable, Brown or white rice. This dish had tofu, shiitake mushroom, broccoli, water chestnuts and Chinese cabbage in delicate sauce. Very tasty. You also get a pot of tea at your table. Very attentive wait staff, refilling water. Glad to find a nice, sit down Chinese in my neighborhood. Will come back. Prices seem reasonable for dinner.

Honestly and pleasantly surprise. It exceeded my expectations by far, I saw a few pics and I guess they had a few bad days and got it wrong more than twice. With me, it was a different thing, I had the spare rib noodle soup and was very delicious! Not so rich and not very well balanced. The roasted duck on rice was like an expensive restaurant. Well seasoned crispy and just the right amount of salt. It was served in in a VERY generous bed of rice and some broccoli rabe cook tender but with enough bite to have the flavor. If you ever need a fast good quality Chinese fix this is your place! The workers here are super friendly and helpful.

The food i had here was horrible. The shrimp and broccoli was watery and my vegetable dumplings was burnt. I was pissed off due to the fact that i paid darn near twenty bucks for crap. I dont know if it was an off night or what. They could have done better! or atleast tried too. Ill rather eat food from one of the Chinese food trucks outside then here.

The food is so mediocre but I can’t give this place any less than 3 stars because the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I came here for an easy BYO with 30 other friends on a Friday night, and they accommodated us easily, and we encountered no problems. They put us in the back room of the restaurant at a long table, so of course it was hard to talk to everyone, but that’s to be expected. They also give you coupons if you pay in cash! The food is so terrible though :(At my BYO I ordered General Tsao’s chicken, which I was expecting to be terrible American Chinese food anyway… but it was so much worse than the worst I was expecting. The week afterwards, I used the coupon they gave me for paying in cash to order take out, and ordered scallion pancakes and chicken rice noodles. Both were greasy, bland, and salty all at once. Terrible food experience, probably wouldn’t come unless I were really desperate or needed a BYO place for a large group! They do give you a huge portion though, so you get a lot of bang for your buck, at least.

I went here for lunch with a friend. We got the pork potstickers, Dan Dan noodles, and flat rice noodle soup with fried fish balls. The potstickers were deep fried and arrived in a shallow pool of oil. I was hoping they’d be pan-fried and partially steamed, the way potstickers are traditionally made. Oh well, now I know not to get this next time. My friend’s Dan Dan noodles looked a bit off to me. The menu said Chengdu style(Chengdu is the capital of a Chinese province renowned for fiery hot, numbing cuisine), but the color of the sauce was barely red. Sure enough, it was a very mild rendition of a traditionally spicy dish. Similar to the Dan Dan noodles, my dish was very mild in flavor. The rice noodles came in a clear broth that was begging for seasoning. I couldn’t tell what kind of meat the broth was made from, perhaps a bad sign. The fried fish balls were yummy though. Salty, chewy, and springy as they should be. Although the fish balls were packaged, you can’t really blame them for not painstakingly mincing fish and bouncing the pasty concoction against a cutting board 50+ times as the method requires. All in all, Beijing is a good option if you’re in University City and craving Chinese food. As other Unilocalers have indicated, you shouldn’t expect to be blown away. The food is just okay.

Beijing does an excellent job with event catering; I have used them several times for work events. Ordering is a breeze, they are always on time with delivery, and they even insist(!) upon setting up the food. Most importantly, the food is very good. I get nervous trying to please everyone when feeding 25 – 50 people, but I’ve received numerous compliments on the food and most times people go for second or third helpings. *My personal favorite are the chicken pan seared dumplings.

I’ve been here once, really late at night, and I was happy to find this place still open! My friend and I had a simple bite that consisted of the spicy egg plant and Kung pao chicken. The eggplant was solid, but I still prefer Han dynasty for Kung pao chicken. This place is so close to campus that I’m surprised I haven’t been here more. It’s not the best tasting for sure, but I think it’ll do for a simple sit down lunch or dinner!
