I love South Philly and the Italian Market adds in character to one of my favorite sections of the city. You have your corner stores, bakeries, shops and etc. Anthony’s Italian Coffee fits into the mix. Just that it is not for me. I am not quite the breakfast and brunch kind of person. The sandwich I had here could use more depth with the flavoring. I do enjoy the outdoor seats and service is good. Not a bad place for a visit for, but not a regular place to visit for me.

Just visited Anthony’s chocolate house and must say it was some of the best food I ate on my trip. When we walked in we got a warm welcome and were treated like friends, not customers. I bought chocolate covered pretzels for my young son and a selection of pastries for my drive back to NYC. Everything was amazing! So delicious. Highly recommend it to anyone taking a trip to philly.

Nice place with an Italian feel right in the 9th street market. Tasty classic Italian coffee drinks, pastries baked goods and food. We didn’t eat, but our cappuccinos were on point. Cute outdoor seating too. Very friendly staff.

Coffee and chocolate– what more could you need?! I visited both the coffee house and the chocolate house to buy some treats for my very lucky significant other. The ladies on the chocolate side were very helpful in picking out some sweets for my sweet. I felt like the price seemed very fair, especially for the quality of the candy. And they were eaten very quickly, so must have been good! I picked up a bag of coffee next door as well, the Italian Market roast. It makes a great cup of coffee. The coffee shop was pretty crowded, and it made me smile to see a small business doing so well!

Oh my goodness. Today Provenance Companies brought Detroit Antique & Props some sweet treats from here. Various chocolate pretzels they were the best I have ever had. My only regret, I shared them with everyone, now they are gone. Going to for sure call and order more !

I wish I could give this place more than a 5. This place is great for coffee, chocolate, cannolis, cookies, anything you could imagine. I always get my stepmom a bag of their coffee for xmas and she adores it. The prices are about the same as a Starbucks, but it’s a small business and local to south philly. It was my dad’s favorite coffee shop in the whole city which is really important because he loved coffee. It is a small building, so not a great place to do work/come in a group, but if you’re planning to wander the Italian Market for a while then it’s a really great idea to pop in. A lot of time you can get some free samples also! There is nice outdoor seating in the warmer weather. There is a punch card here: 10 drinks and you get one free!

I love Anthony’s! The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and a generous portion. I typically get a vanilla latte, but it is always delicious. I have sat inside, outside, and gotten my drink to go. The tables outside are great for people watching in the market.

A must-visit in the Italian Market if you need a coffee. The smell of gourmet coffee and espresso will greet you from the street, and the inside of this place is as charming as it gets. Small café tables, tile floor, and photos of the owner with different celebrity guests. The prices are comparable to big chain coffee shops. You can also get whole beans or coffee grounds to go – I recently bought some grounds and have been enjoying Anthony’s coffee at home every morning. Not the kind of coffee shop you’d go to sit and study, but makes a great cup for walking around the Italian Market.

As an Italian new to the Philly food scene, Anthony’s is exactly what I need in my life! After having a sweet brunch at Sabrina’s around the corner, I needed something salty with more substance to hold me over until dinner time. The original panini was EXACTLY the combination that I was planning on ordering, so I was psyched that it was readily available on the menu. I requested they add some balsamic vinegar, which made this perfect panini even better! My friend got a hot chocolate, which she said was awesome. They had a lot of different types to choose from. She also ordered a cannoli. She let me try a bite and I enjoyed it, though I found it to have a strong vanilla flavor. My favorite cannolis come from an Italian pastry shop in New Jersey, so it would’ve been hard to replace them in my heart, but this cannoli was fine. I prefer the filling to taste more like ricotta with only a hint of vanilla. I definitely want to go back to try Anthony’s drinks and other menu options. I’ve been telling my family about this place all weekend since I visited. They live in New England, but I’ll certainly be bringing them by when they’re in town! Anthony’s is a very small spot that fills up quickly and has limited seating. A true café atmosphere. Warm lighting with lots of people coming and going. They had a line out the door when I entered the establishment, but they helped people quickly and efficiently PLUS they were nice about it. That’s key, folks. You don’t find that everywhere, especially in a city. I appreciated their kindness. Overall, Anthony’s is a quaint café that has delicious food, drinks and dessert and kind, appreciative staff. Can’t wait to go back!

I really love this place! I came by on Saturday during my long wait at Sabrinas. In under 5 minutes I was able to procure: 1) A sample of a caramel apple that had me salivating. 2) Whole beans to make my Keurig more viable given the advent of our new bean grinder 3) A cup of drip coffee that was both delicious, and available MUCH quicker than our 45 minute wait at Sabrinas. 4) A hankering for a Cannoli as theirs look FABULOUS… though I didn’t imbibe. I’ve been here numerous times… and regardless if its for candy, coffee, a sandwich, loose tea, coffee beans, or just to get out of the cold, they’re ALWAYS kind, ALWAYS welcoming, and ALWAYS fabulous thru and thru. Hooray this place!

Very cute little double shops with coffee on one side and desserts on herb other. I had a mocha and Matt regular latte both good. For the boys it was their first time having chocolate gelato in sprinkle cones which they said was great.

This is undoubtedly my favorite coffee shop in the city. Although it’s a bit far from me, I will head right to this neighborhood to get my fix! The Venetian Roast, the Double Espresso, and the Caffe Latte are absolutely scrumptious. There is something so full and flavorful about the coffee here that always puts a smile on my face. Paired with an Almond Biscotti, it’s the perfect way to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. I could easily spend hours here, and I have, with a pile of papers to grade or the right company. Although there is not a huge amount of seating, people usually come and go pretty quickly. I love to take the window spot in the corner and let the day run by. With quick and friendly service, the perfect brew, and a sunny and bright ambiance, this place is the total package, in my opinion. You should definitely stop in as part of any visit to the Italian Market.

Saturday night stumbled into here cause friends and I were parched from all the cheesesteak intake and minimal water intake of the evening’s event. Behold… Anthony’s coffee house a short walk away :) + Friendly and kind staff + Clean atmosphere + Lovely spiced chai + Public bathrooms All in all, it was a lovely place to warm ourselves up with some hot drinks after a day exploring in the Philly cold.

Love love love their espresso. Their coffee is amazing. It is kinda far from me but I still walk there to buy their espresso coffee bean. They freshly grind for you right there and price is awesome. About $ 7 – 8 per package. My sister and mom in Korea got so hooked(they are definitely coffee snob unlike me) so I have to buy for them too and mail them! I get their caffe latte and one biscotti and grind espresso beans to go. Glad I found this little shop.

Solid all around. Delicious coffee for the most part. I have bought both of their espressos to make at home, and they are a touch sweet for my taste to have on their own, but make a great cappuccino. Their sandwiches are always good. I’ve had at least half the menu and never been disappointed. My favorite part about the paninis are that they come with a tiny little salad. It’s a nice touch.

How I heard of this place: After a late lunch at Geno’s we were in the mood for a walk and something sweet. The street market was closing down, vendors packing up their fresh fruits and vegetables, passing murals painted on the sides of buildings, and several places called Anthony’s to our right: Italian Coffee House, Chocolate House. We could not refuse. Type of cuisine: An plethora of chocolates, chocoalte-covered things, and gelato. Ambiance: A very autumnal display in the front window, with pumpkins, two scarecrow, fake catails and orange, fabric leaves of all sizes welcomed us. Draped slightly open were orange-colored curtains that lead the way into the remainder of the true hole-in-the-wall chocolate shop. The space, big enough only to have one person walk through at a time, but easy for a line to form, orange walls included, was covered in random photographs of people, food, and even an Italian flag! Not to mention the shelves and counters, every inch of space covered with gifts of chocolate and chocolate-covered-things. No music, no friendly neighborhood greeting, no frills other than the chocolate views taken in by every patron. What I ordered: Having seen more chocolate covered pretzels and pizzelles than anything else in the store, I had to find out which was the most popular and go with that. I was directed to the pretzels. Between the Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Coffee Stripes($ 1 each or $ 15.95/pound) and the the Dark Chocolate Pretzel with White Chocolate Stripes, despite my two companions’ recommendation, I took the less-than-friendly advice of our server and went with the coffee. Chris could not refuse the Oreo Gelato(medium cup $ 5), after we sampled a few flavors, inlcuding blood orange, pear, mint chocolate chip, peanut butter cup and fig & honey. Samyar chose the milk chocolate Chocolate Marshmallow Smores($ 2 each) and the milk chocolate Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Sandwich($ 15.95/pound). What I loved: The gelatos left much to be desired, so I was pleased to have gone for something more chocolatey. My favorite, however, was the Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Sandwich with more peanut butter than anyone would know what to do with! The Smores were nice, too, but a little dry. The pretzel deliciously salty, sweet and bitter. In fact, the pretzel dipped in the peanut butter was the best combination of them all! Why I loved it: A variety of options in a small space, with treats perfect for walking through the busy streets of the Italian Market or taking home to share with guests! Cost: Average to high($ 1-$ 7 per sweet treat)

A fantastic little coffee shop that serves more than just coffee. Located on 9th St in the Italian Market, Anthony’s is a perfect place to stop in . Anthony’s offers you that escape from the madness of the Italian Market with an unbelievable assortment of Italian pastries to meals. Lets not forget about that coffee, it would be a crime not to mention it. Anthony’s can serve you a plain coffee, but why go plain, not that their plain coffee is bad. A plethora of delicious syrups can be added to your hot cup, or go crazy with an iced coffee. I myself went with a Amaretto with a double shot of espresso and a touch of cream, and yes I went the iced route. Heavenly and refreshing I say with a sfogliatelle to compliment my 20 ounces of deliciousness. This is one of the pastries you can enjoy at Anthony’s or peruse their menu, I tell you everything inside there looked great with a quality they provide that isn’t expensive. A clean well serviced shop, with a staff that will do what ever it takes to accommodate your fancy. Go in relax enjoy a cup, break away from the madness, enjoy some«me» time. Not to worry though you can still see the mayhem of shoppers, and walkers from the inside looking out with a view of the street.
