This place is my current go-to for eyebrow waxing, and I’m really happy with what they do(which is keeping my brows nice and thick while cleaning up all my scraggle). $ 7. In and out. Good quality wax that makes me significantly less red than some other kind of wax.

I was in Center City this morning, had some time to spare, and was looking for a nail/hair salon to get waxed. On Sundays it seemed most walk in places listed on Unilocal were closed. I was driving on Arch and saw this place and found metered curb parking just down the block, so it was meant to be. I walked in and was quoted $ 30 for eyebrows, lip, and chin. It has been a couple months since my last service so I definitely needed it. Lan took me to a clean back room where I laid on a table. It was quick, painless and her work was absolutely perfect. I complimented her on how I anticipated pain and there was none. She stated it is the type of wax they use. I had very very minimal redness and within 30 minutes that was completely gone. I live out in the suburbs, but I will definitely be making this a monthly stop when I am in Center City on the weekends anyway.

To be avoided with all costs. I used their service for my wedding day prep and day-of wedding hair & make-up. The prep include a trial, a facial(billed separately), and the wedding day hair & makeup. The trial was fine and the makeup was applied quite nicely. The facial, however, was an entirely used-car-salesman-hard-sell experience altogether. The owner and the person who did my facial repeatedly tried to sign me up for their facial skin care package, even after it was turned down a few times. Then, probably as a revenge for having been turned down, the owner(who happens to be the makeup artist) was ~50 minutes late to my wedding day makeup appointment and her hair stylist(who does my mom’s hair & mine) was ~1.25 hours late to my wedding DAY appointment. It wasn’t until i strongly voiced some concerns over timing, that we were properly taken care of. My wedding day ceremony almost had to be pushed back altogether, thanks to these 2 clowns. If not for some crazy driving to the ceremony venue, we would have been more than an hour late. To add insult to the wound, the owner called me a month later, still trying to sell me the facial package. Needless to say, I told her not to call me ever again. Eh, wasn’t a fan of my facial. I was anticipating a crazy extraction since I have been behind on my whole skincare regimen. Pain for beauty, right? I was disappointed, she basically ended up washing my face a million times, steamed my face twice for 10 mins, «lightly» extracted for a minute(I dont even know if i could even call it an extraction…), put a mask on for what felt like 20 mins, gave me a weak massage, and moisturized. I guess it wouldn’t have been bad if i didn’t know any better, but based on experiences at other salon… this definitely fell short. I wanted nice and cleared pores but ended up with a shiny extra moisturized face. I really hope I do not break out for this. What else made it really annoying was that the facialist kept trying to sell me on the skincare packages. Before the facial, during the facial, and even after the facial. I declined every time and she still continued to ask me about it until the moment i walked out the door. NOMEANSNO!!!

I hope to update the stars when I go for a facial. I went there today to get my nails done to try it out before committing to a facial to check it out, however they no longer do nails at all. They only do facials and massages. They were pleasant for the most part but when I asked where I could go they told me they did not know where I could go for a manicure.(I walked around the corner and found one.) I do plan on going back though and getting a facial. I will keep you all posted.

Wow — I can’t even believe I am writing this. My 4 year old daughter and I were in China Town yesterday — and we walked into Angel Beauty — a Shiseido Store — when we asked if they do nails — the lead us into a back room — which was GORGEOUS and clean and wonderful. For 5 bux, dd had a polish change. There was a lady there having reflexology done, and they had 3 – 4 pedi-chairs. Definitely will return. Not scary at all — just completely unexpected.
