Let me start off by saying that the restaurant was clean, the hospitality was great, and the food looked(looked-ded, I emphasize) very delicious. I decided to get a plate from the buffet because I did not feel like cooking. As the saying goes, ‘The best laid plans of mice and men…’ With my mouth salivating and ready to eat – my first few bites were disappointing. M’kay, where’s the flavor? I ended up puting my undercooked chicken in the oven and seasoning the black eyed peas, string beans and cabbage. Growing up with both parents being from the South, I have tasted my share of flavorful soul food. This food, in my opinion, both lacked the flavor and soul! The string beans tasted like it came straight from a can. The cornbread was ‘wet’ and I had to put in oven. The baked chicken tasted like it was cooked with pork(which I do not eat). I was far from impressed because I had such high hopes. Can you say busted and disgusted?! Not all soul food places are created equal. If I want some down home healthy ‘soul food’, I will either have to wait for the holidays to bum a plate from my family(because I damn sure am not cooking) or try other restaurants that I KNOW will be flavorful. This food did not taste like someone cooked it so good they put their foot in it; neither did it want to make me ‘slap my momma.’ D-list Celebrity soul food is more like it.

This was a shop Ferguson stop for me. It’s an area pretty much out of the way from my regular driving but recent news brings this area into the spotlight. Of course I used Unilocal to see what was around and Celebrity was one of many I’ll being trying out. They have a buffet with a good price that includes good quality soul food. They get points for excellent fried okra, tasty greens, decent fried chicken(but maybe a bit dry), and more than enough choices that you will get stuffed if you let yourself. Friendly service. Worth a visit.

The food is very tasty but I don’t like the portions. You have to tell them can you put more of that please. Also I think you pay for desert separate at the beginning. I would recommend this place though because of the taste of the food

I have eaten here several times over the past 2 years and the food has always been fresh and well prepared. The fried chicken is tasty and spiced just right. I think it is the best of the places I have been to. Not that many, but a couple if them were supposed to be the«best in St. Louis» and they didn’t measure up to Celebrity’s. The greens are also one of my favorites. Pricing is right for a weekday all you can eat buffet. Service is also a high point. The staff is friendly and considerate and the interior is bright and clean. Will definitely go again!

Pretty good food, but my husband & I felt very bloated right after. The venue also a lot nicer than expected, & really enjoyed the Sunday Jazz Band was really good. the set up looks like a small buffet but if you reach for a plate which are located on the customer side. The employees all give you that you no better look. but that’s how its set up, so I felt some embarrassment for reaching for a plate. I think its over priced also.

I went to this restaurant not knowing what to expect. I had always been told to go to Sweetie Pies whenever I was in the St. Louis area(did it and was slightly disappointed). The staff at Celebrity Soul Food was extremely nice. The food tasted way better than my previous experience at a soul food restaurant. The only drawback to the restaurant was that they serve you buffet style while this is good, I did not like the fact that I had to tell them what I wanted and they prepared my plate. I would have preferred to serve myself. Nevertheless, the food was seasoned well and not over seasoned. The rolls, the rolls, the rolls melt in your mouth and need no butter or jelly added to them. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and chicken all were good. I would recommend this place to others. My next stop, Pappy’s Smoke house.

I was reluctant to try another soul food restaurant as most of my endeavors have been quite disappointing. There is a soul food buffet here all you can eat or to go-1 meat, 3 sides for $ 12.50, not bad. I had fried chicken, mac & cheese, dressing, & blackeyed peas & a roll. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, crispy & not over cooked. The black eyed peas were really good. The roll was homemade & delicious. The dressing was the BEST I have had from a soul food place in the stl!!! It was SEASONED which I find lacking from some places. The mac & cheese was good. The staff was friendly. They have desserts but I didn’t try any. I will definitely go back.
