I love Hallmark for the variety of items they offer. But I have had issues with this store before. They are constantly asking you if you need help. Which is fine, but it was to the extent we left because we couldn’t enjoy our shopping experience. I was looking at ornaments and an employee asked if I needed help. I told her the ornament I was looking for without even looking and she said we don’t have it I call another store. As I kept looking I found it and there were 4 more of the same ornament. She said well I guess we got more in. She didn’t even look she automatically assumed they didnt. Then my mom asked if they had a specific penguin ornament we had seen in one of the Keepsake Ornament mailing. She said we don’t carry anything like that and tried to show us something else that wasn’t even a keepsake ornament and was not even an ornament. She insisted that hallmark had nothing like that. Ok then why was it in a hallmark mailing??? I live in Fenton, but I’m going to go to other Hallmarks before I go to this one if I can.

I was in the area and in an pinch for a card to go with a gift. I saw the Hallmark, not even knowing it was there, and thought I might as well pop in for a looksies. Afterall, it is THE card store. I perused for a little while looking for the perfect card. Yes, I find one that sufficed. Yes, it was expensive for a piece of paper. I guess that’s the price we pay for being lazy and having poor handwriting… The store itself was fine, tons of choices. I mean TONS. I hate cheesy cards and there is a WHOLELOT of cheese in Hallmark. Had I had more time, I would have stopped by Artmart or a local vendor to find more indie/interesting prints. They tend to be a little more personal and unique. I didn’t look at the rest of the store but there seemed to be a lot of junk to purchase. Including, but not limited to, stuffed animals and holiday décor. There was only one employee when I as there and she was super sweet/helpful. Will I be back? Maybe, but it’s not my first choice.

It has been some time since I wandered around in a Hallmark store and even though they are all similar in many ways they also carry some different and local stuff I think. I thought this particular store had a great abundance and such cute selection of things for the little people in your life. Laughing and talking elephants. Monkeys that giggle when you hug them… Really cute large sized picture books and little bees/ladybugs on hooks that you can stuff with treats and dangle on their backpacks. They had these ugly little dammit dolls that I can only assume are something made local… I guess it may be a nifty gift idea for the right person. Of course I like the cards… they had such cute ones that said Good Luck, I love you… just nice little sentiments in addition to your standards. They seemed to have a full staff of three people in a small little store – just waiting to help you…
