Peking Chef

I’ve been going here for about 2, maybe 3 years. It’s been my go to Chinese restaurant ever since I’ve moved out to Federal Way. I’ve ordered delivery, pick-​up, and I’ve also dined in a couple times.
When I first started coming here, they used the Top Ramen noodles for their fried soft noodles. NOT the case anymore. The noodles they use now are very delicious, and they don’t put more vegetables than noodles in the dishes. I personally have had the issue of other restaurants putting more veggies than noodles.
Fried rice is delicious. Sweet & Sour pork/​chicken is delicious. I like that when I order pick up or delivery, the S&S sauce is in a separate container.
I personally love their Honey Walnut Shrimp and their Orange Chicken as well. I usually order a dinner combination. For $ 13, you get a ridiculous amount of food. So worth it. I’ve never had a problem with anything being cold, even when ordering delivery.
The prices are «normal.» Maybe a little cheaper than other Chinese restaurants in the area. The girl working is always very sweet and kind. The restaurant is always clean, it’s quiet, and lots of parking available. I’ll continue to come here, it will probably always be my go to Chinese restaurant while I live in the area.

Second time coming back here and was again– not impressed. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and once again the broccoli it came with was cold! The meal itself had some hot spots and some lukewarm– makes me wonder if it was microwaved?
Plus it was swimming in sauce which made it hard to eat. My husband got the orange chicken, and the broccoli was also cold. Just not much flavor there. The waitress was really sweet, but even with the monthly coupon that comes around– we won’t be back.

After nearly 2 years of having food delivered to our house the restaurant removed our address. It was shortly, as in days, of complaining that our food took over 2 hours to get to us. Clearly I can’t say this was the reason but it makes me ponder. If so that is sad. Either way they are losing a almost weekly customer.
UPDATE:
Owner sent me a message and has offered to deliver if they are not too busy. It was a nice message and I appreciate the effort made to explain some things and to keep us as a customer. I’m having take out tonight. The food is good. We wouldn’t be a customer as long as we have if it wasn’t.

Really below average — even for Federal Way. Beef and broccoli — beef looked to be steamed. Grey meat. Yum. General tso chicken — like nothiing I’ve never had. Total soupy mess.

We just so really enjoyed this place. I believe this is one of the best ever.
We ordered delivery tonight and the food arrived on time, warm and the delivery person was very nice.
We had moo shoo pork — the best I have ever had. Not normally a fan but I wanted to make bf happy. We also had general chick (hot) boy was it ever. I Almost ordered very hot (glad I didn’t)! So to top off our order we got the app combo. Just as good as everything else!
Will definitely be making this place a regular.

After this trip today I am convinced that we were there for Peking Chef right before their downfall. My wife and I have returned two times since our last review, and it has been pretty terrible. Sure, the soup is great, but the meals have come out with cold and old, clumpy rice. The beef feels like it was reused somehow, and the sauce seems like it was just frozen. I will leave it a 2 stars for what it was and could be, but today it felt like a 1.

Ordered General Taso chicken and Mongolian beef tonight. Not bad for the price. Staff was friendly. Plenty of parking.

Came here for dinner last night and it was delicious. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Federal Way. Their portion sizes are huge. The service was great. I had the mushroom chicken with wonton soup and my boyfriend had one of the combination dinners. We will definitely go back and look forward to trying more of their menu!

Great food at decent price however, I wish their hot and sour soup was a lot bigger in size and they gave us more rice. Everything else, taste is on point and love ordering Chinese delivery for dinner on a cold lazy day.

Had the fried rice and it was delicious! Staff was super friendly as well and quick. If you’re in the area and want some fried rice or hot and sour soup, be sure to check them out!

Food is normally somewhat ok. Feeling ill tonight. Fried rice was very very dark, chow mien had zero flavor. Received stir fried almond chicken rather than deef fried. Not a good meal all around.

For the portions, you can’t beat the price. The mushroom chicken and the cheese filled wontons are my favorite. Customer service is always great and they are pretty quick. we usually do take out but may try the delivery service next.

I’ve been here handful of times and even though the portions are large flavor consistency varies.
We had all 3 soups.
Egg drop was blan
Hot and sour was sour but not hot
Won ton soup was just oily.
Beef fried rice was over cooked but not bad.
Pepper beef was just okay nothing exciting.
Honey almond shrimp was very sweet and the sauce was very cloying on my pallet.
Lastly the chop suey tasted like the pepper beef rofl.
I give them a hard C rating just cause the flavor wasn’t there.

The Mongolian beef was so sweet and I ordered 4 stars! It tastes like it was just chewy pieces of fat omg how gross! The chicken in the chicken fried rice was like rubbery and truly looked and tasted fake. The fried wontons had a piece of meat the size of a dime with so much fried excess. I will never order from here again! I advise everyone to stay away or you will get sick!

We had delivery to the hotel. The customer service was great, the look and quantity was great, prices a bit high.
The food itself looked delicious but had no flavor whatsoever!

I’ve ordered here once for delivery. The food tasted very delicious and fresh! Delivery took a while but not a ridiculous amount of time. I’ve definitely been craving that fried rice ever since! My girlfriend had the one complaint of «The orange chicken tastes like it’s TOO good in quality». So definitely not your regular shitty fake Chinese food. However, the fortune cookies were stale. Overall, I will definitely be ordering again from here.

Not a fan. I’ve tried this place twice and both times I wasn’t impressed. There was a long black hair in my food and the quality of food was not awesome. I won’t be returning.

Let Me start by saying My review has nothing to do with the staff They are friendly people and I wish I had better things to say about the food however,
I am truly mortified this place was as highly rated is it were after having tried it. It tastes like Mall Chinese that tastes like it was made by white people (no racism intended)
The scariest part is what They are trying to pawn off as chow mein it is seriously and I say this with every ounce of truth oriental top ramen with a couple pieces of broccoli and some oil/​butter thrown in I can even taste the oriental flavoring which if You have ever been a college student You know all too well and they charge 8 $ for it?!
The rice is very bland and over loaded with canned bamboo shoots :(Overall I would give this place a 2 maybe 3 if I was starving enough however I can make food like this if not better at home and I was hoping for more I gave 1 star because I cannot believe people had the audacity to pawn off top ramen on Me.
*Update a couple hours later I got hungry again and decided to give the Wonton a go not only does it taste like someone poured massive amounts of salt into a rotten sad excuse for wonton soup but there was a special little black curly hair discovered,

When I do come to eat here or just get it ordered from jome I am always met with friendly service. The girls are sweet and polite and not scatterbrained. The food really does taste great at a usual price for good Chinese cuisine. The restaurant itself has a calm atmosphere and is really clean. It’s also conveniently located just a bit up from the commons mall. My family usually orders from home every now and then as well. They show up in good time too. Decent choices for the lunch special too.

This place was suggested to me by a friend. I heard the chef is from another Federal Way restaurant. My wife and I were super excited to try this place. For some reason we have not been able to find a great Chinese restaurant in the Tacoma area. The place is small and new and I hope more people start coming here so that it becomes super successful.
The food has excellent flavor. For the last couple of years I have eaten disgusting Chinese food, and my biggest complaint about those places is the complete lack of flavor. This is definitely not an issue here. The soup had great flavor, the Pork wontons had great flavor and the main course just tasted amazing. The portion sizes were great, the waitress was super friendly, and the price was fair. We are going back in a week to try the family style. That is my favorite style of Chinese food.
My only true complaint was the bubble tea was pretty mediocre. I like real fruit ones, but I am usually ok with the milk tea powders. The problem is the flavors were very limited and the tapioca were pretty bland. I have come to enjoy the slightly sweetened tapioca. Also instead of the shrink wrapped lids they had dome lids which were an annoyance and less fun.
I will hopefully come back many times. I hope this place explodes with customers and is in business for a long time.
