Discount Tire Store – Federal Way, WA

I also can not believe all these positive reviews of this place!
Let me share my experience:
I ordered a set of four tires which were not in stock. A few days later they called and scheduled an appointment to get them mounted and also swap my winter wheels (with all seasons) to my summer wheels (with summer performance tires). I showed up for my appointment they told me it would be about 45 minutes. So I walked across the parking lot and got something to eat. When I came back in about 45 minutes my car was not even in the shop. I patiently waited for them to pull my car in and put on the new tires.
When they finished, I looked at my newly installed wheels and tires, and noticed that they installed the wrong set of lug nuts on my summer wheel set (even after I told the manager that they were in the Ziploc bag the on the passengers front seat, AND HE NOTED THAT ON THE WORK ORDER). So back in the shop it goes to get the correct lugs on. Before they finish, they inform me that I was missing two of my aftermarket Lugnuts from the ziplock for my summer wheel set, BUT– good news — they just happened to have two identical spares (yes, even the key fit) in their back room. That’s funny because I had the same discount tire swap my wheels to my winter set last fall, and did not open the zip lock at all during that time. I am sure that the shop monkeys failed to put all of them back in the Ziploc 6 months ago, and found them while cleaning up at the end of the day, then threw them in a bucket with all the other Lugnuts they loose!
About two or three days later I checked the tire pressure and adjusted it as required. No big deal. BUT — I noticed that the tires they put on were not the tires I ordered!!! They were the all-​season version of the tires I ordered, which were summer performance tires. So I checked my receipt to verify that the correct summer performance tires were ordered, yes they were. Obvious that the shop monkey just glanced at the work order and failed to pull the correct tires. I immediately called them back and told them of the mistake. They replied that they still had my 4 Summer performance tires in their store that I special ordered, so I made another appointment.
My new appointment date comes and I show up. By now I have figured out that the shop monkeys here do not read the details of their work order. To test this I specifically request that the lugs are to be tightened to 85 foot pounds of torque. I wait outside and watch the guy put my lugs on with a air gun, not a torque wrench! I yell to him and ask «how many foot pounds are you tightening those to?» He replies «oh about 70 or 75 ft-​pounds.» I tell him to read his work order and tighten them to 85 foot pounds.
Visibly agitated, he found a torque wrench and started tightening each one to my specified torque. So I think I am finally done with this ordeal, until I wash my car about a week later, and find that there are SURFACE SACRATCHES BETWEEN EVERY LUG NUT ON ALL 4 OF MY VERY EXPENSIVE WHEELS!!!
I am convinced that this was definitely an act of retaliation for being caught not reading a work order… See pic of (one of four) my now ruined, very expensive wheel
IN SHORT: expect them to take twice the amount of time as quoted, not pay attention to details, and if you do question their work, expect damage done to your vehicle.

Good service, came here because of a flat tire warning, and they have done a good job, they tried to get every customer as quick as possible, good service standard, employees here are nice, they will explain what’s going on with your car, and show you what and how they do

Recently I visited the Discount Tire in Federal Way. I went in for my winter/​summer tire swap, also having a problem with a tire. The location identified the tire issue and offered to replace the tire with my road hazard option.
The location did not have the tire on hand so it needed to be ordered. I was told the tire would arrive two days later (on a Tuesday). I called on Wednesday after no notification. I was told the tire was en route and I’d receive a call once it arrived. I never received a call I called 12 days later and I was told they had the tire for quite some time but simply did not contact me, with no explanation as to why.
The actual tire swap over was a bit much too. I had an appointment. I arrived an hour early yet was told I would be out in «about an hour», yet it was over three hours before they were finished with my suv. I was told they would mark the damaged tire for ease of identification when I returned to pick up the new tire. The damaged tire was not marked so now I am unable to clearly identify the damaged tire. So now I am subject to taking all four tires back in order to identify the damaged tire. I also requested a tire balance. When I was told my car is ready I asked if the tires were balanced, the response was «no» so my suv had to go back in the bay to be balanced.
About 30 minutes later the technician returned with paperwork and advised me I needed to go to Midas as they had broken a lug nut. I could only shake my head and rush to get out of this store.
I absolutely dread returning to pick up the tire this weekend two weeks later. I’ll stick to the Bellevue location where the staff takes greater care in dealing with customers and their vehicles. To add to this debacle, I choose this location as it was a close location to a dear friend, yet is 90 miles from our home. I’ve been doing business with DT for years, I doubt I’d go elsewhere but I certainly will not go to this location again.

You know when you find a pair of socks in your Christmas stocking or Easter basket and you’re like, that’s lame– another pair of socks– but then when you put them on its like heaven opened up and angels descended upon your feet– because that’s how good new socks feel. New tires are there same– nobody wants to pay for new tires. But when you get them it feels like a new car, smooth and crisp. And thanks to Chase Sturmer at the Fed Way Discount Tire, our experience was so good we will definitely return. Chase was professional, friendly, and above all he cares. Thank you!

Ordered tires and received no courtesy call that they had come in. I have been waiting a rather lentghy amount of time to get my two tires changed, although the staff are well able to change them and I was earlier than my appointment time I sit and waited over an hour just to get my car into their garage (not counting the time for the actual tire change). I am observing Kyle trying to manage upset and dissapointed customers who were not notified of issues with their tires until they came back into the store, where a simple phone call may been made thus saving everyone’s time. The only reason I shopped here was because I found an ok deal for tires. My advice is this, if you have all day to wait and get your tires changed then come here, but if your on a time crunch and have money to spend go somewhere else. Overall observation of this location is that this place is like a tire with bad tread as it is unreliable and may dissapoint you anytime. Will go across the street to Les Schwab from now on.

yet!!! The best part was, the cost of the new tire was FREE! (covered under warranty)
I have gotten hazard coverage for future accidents for ONLY $ 26! (optional)

I honestly can’t believe all the good reviews for this place… It’s run by a bunch of men who have no sense of time /​customer service skills. My boyfriend went to get new tires on Wednesday. They said the tires would be there at 3 so he goes and it takes them 4 HOURS to put the tires on. He left at 7. They told him to go ahead and drive his truck out of the shop at 6. Oh but wait no one put air in the tires and they also didn’t bother to tighten the tires on to spec… Great. So the manager spent an hour taking care of it… Boyfriend was told to come back on Thursday to replace two of his tire sensor lights as well. He waits another 2.5 hours for them to replace the two sensors even though he had an appointment 24 hours in advance… And turns out they told him he needs all FOUR sensors to be replaced and to come back on Friday (today) to get the other two replaced. His tire sensor light was still on when he left last night, but the guys told him that it would turn off later… How sketch… Guess what? It still hasn’t turned off…
Needless to say DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME. He is going to another Discount Tire today to take care of the tire sensor problem because these people can’t be trusted.

Overall, not a bad experience. Staff was friendly, but needed more people manning the desk. Waited about 15 minutes before being helped. I understand that it could’ve just been an exceptionally busy day too. I had a 2:15 appointment for a tire rotation and was on time, if not a bit early. They didn’t even start my vehicle until close to 3. Once they got it going, it was a quick process, but I was a little irked that it took so long to get started. The point of me making an appointment was for prompt attention when I got there. I guess overall 90 mins start to finish isn’t bad, but I was just hoping that it would’ve been a bit quicker.

We were enroute to Canada when our tire got a huge screw and started losing Air fast. We call Walmart who was rude and unhelpful as they were closing in 10 mins. It’s now 7pm and we were in a panic as nothing is open and we had a deadline to make it to the border.
Now these guys were closing up (late to boot) and we came in begging for a reference for someone open late, and they rolled their bay doors back up and Nick and his team had us back on the road in 10 minutes!
They didn’t have to do it, but they were like little tire angels from the sky who saved us when there was no one else. I am so thankful that we had the luck to stumble upon this amazing team!

These guys are the best! They saved me and my crew from having to sleep in a Walmart parking lot because the other tire centers turned us away. They’re super friendly an extremely accommodating. Could not recommend them more!

Was recommended to come here by coworker-​so glad I went! The guy was really nice and offered tires at different price points, then made a suggestion for what I would need. He didn’t try to upsell me on pricier tires.
I got a warranty for all 4 of them even though I only bought two that day. Had to wait a couple hours bc it was busy, but just killed time at the Walmart nearby. Will definitely be back!

I brought my car in for a tire rotation on 8÷27÷2015 I had an appointment and the whole process took about an hour, which I was expecting. This weekend when I went to wash my car I noticed that they chipped the inside of the hub on my Advan wheels (I uploaded a picture of the damage) I’m extremely dissatisfied with how careless they were with my wheels. The service tech even put in the comments to be!!! Extremely Careful!!! with the wheels. Now I know I’ll have to do an extremely thorough inspection whenever I have Discount Tire services done if I decide to come back to this store.

These guys are pros, I’m a car guy and when we talked about cars/​wheels/​tires they knew exactly what I was talking about, it’s rare trait these days.
They stayed hour after they are supposed to be closed to complete my wheels.
They put my mind at ease with their excellent service, I’m definitely going back there as I trust them and this is very rare for me to trust a shop, because let’s face it most are terrible.

I’ve had a slow leak in my tire for weeks, and while having my car in for regular service at my dealership, they were unable to locate the issue. So I decided to go to a tire expert. Normally that would mean Les Schwab for me, but the Les Schwab dealership in Federal Way doesn’t have such great reviews. Discount Tire in Federal Way, however, does, so I decided to go with them.
The service and professionalism were top notch. My tread is fine, and the vehicle is leased and nearly at the end of term (which means the tire coverage package that Discount Tire offers doesn’t do me any good). I offer basically no sales opportunity to the store, but they were still helpful and courteous, and didn’t charge me to fix the hole in my tire that they found, when my dealership didn’t.
The only reason I didn’t give them 5 full stars (I tried to give 4.5 and Unilocal doesn’t allow halves, apparently) is that when I left the store, my newly repaired tire hadn’t been inflated to the proper PSI, so I had to return for air. And when I did return (thankfully), I noticed that the chrome valve cap wasn’t on my tire, and instead there was a plastic one on it. They inflated my tire right away, and located my chrome cap, so I left right as rain.
I will definitely be a Federal Way Discount Tire customer going forward, and recommend them to anyone who will listen.

There really are angels on earth! Jacob/​Chase/​Jordon of Discount Tire (Fed Way) helped me, even AFTER HOURS, with my blown out tire & when other places were closed!
I’m not only going to buy my new tires here, when they open again, but recommending their service to everyone I know!

Came In 30 minutes before closing on a Saturday. Fast service with free flat repair. So friendly and inviting I will be back for Suv tires.

Since I’ve been with discount tires they’ve provided nothing but good service with no wait. I’ve been to several locations and since federal way is close to home, still the same as expected.
I got my tires checked today to see if they’re still in good condition and if I needed the tires rotated.
So far so good :)!
