Mother Earth Meats

I’m from NY. I flew to Knoxville to spend time with my sister who lives there. Literally, the first place she took me to after I got off the plane was Mother Earth Meats. We walked inside and it reminded me of those little organic markets all over NYC (minus the jerks). She brought home meatloaf and two sides. I don’t even like meatloaf and it was pretty good. I actually hate meatloaf and for the first time in my life… I liked it. I was shocked. I also noticed they had beer. Mmmmmm… meat and beer in one place?! How can you go wrong?!

I had purchased the Groupon for 3 growler fill ups. I had used 2 and kept trying to use the 3^rd but hadn’t gotten a chance to until today. When I drove out of my way to get it filled up, there was a sign on the door saying they are no longer taking any online coupons and to contact the company you bought them from for a return. So now I have to spend my time getting my money back! I think it is unprofessional and makes me not want to give them any of my business again.

I recently purchased their Groupon deal where you can get $ 50 worth of meat. When my fiancée and I showed up, we found that they were refusing to honor the terms of their agreement. This is very unprofessional. Any company that refuses to honor their commitments is not a company I will patronize. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

Excellent bison burgers! Great service! Clean restaurant. Great beer selection. Top notch service. Huge selection of specialty meats. Can’t wait to go back.

Love this place! We like to stop in pick up meat and have a beer. The beer barn tender is great! She is super friendly (as is all the staff) and we enjoy chatting with her. The meat we have purchased this far is great. I look forward to eating lunch here soon.
If you are wanting to try grass fed meats or something new like bison, elk or venison try this shop.
I do wish they had a bigger selection of vegetables :)

We heard some good things about this place so decided to give it a go. We ordered the fried mushrooms — I love fried mushrooms. Unfortunately they were mediocre at best. The breading was very thick and the insides a bit slimy. I asked the server if they were frozen. She didn’t know but said that they don’t bread them in house — they are breaded/​prepped elsewhere — that may explain the texture.
I had a hankering to try one of their specialty burgers — bison, elk, yak, antelope — any of them would do — but they had none of them. They had venison but I get that all the time from my brother (a good deer hunter). They did let us know in advance that they didn’t have any of those meats but I was surprised that most of them were unavailable. My wife ordered the venison and I ordered a hot Italian sausage sandwich.
Before the food came out, we noticed that the silverware was dirty — hardened food particles on a knife and fork.
It took about 30 minutes before the entrée’s came out. There was only one other table so I don’t know what took so long. Basically the food was inedible. My sausage was burnt to a crisp — hard as a rock. My wife’s burger was cold and red inside — it was supposed to be a medium. Her fries were cold and dried out. We took pictures which I will upload.
We told the waitress that the food wasn’t edible. She offered to have someone talk to us. We waited for ten minutes before giving up. I left a ten dollar bill for the mushrooms and iced tea (I did eat some of the mushrooms). We walked out and low and behold the waitress and a guy I assume was a manager came out running after me and taking down my license plate number. I was happy to finally see someone and went back in to show the issues with the food. Apparently the manager didn’t notice that I in fact had paid. I never raised my voice but I was still told that I was not welcome back or even in their parking lot. I always give restaurants a second chance and in some cases a third — so that was a bad move on their part.
Very frustrating and not what I expected given the good reviews my co-​workers gave me in recommending the place.

I had lunch here yesterday and was very surprised at the menu selections. I decided on the bison burger and enjoyed it very much. The waitress was very nice, attentive and informed on the different meats. I bought some bison hotdogs and bulk country sausage from the meat counter and among forward to trying them. I definitely will return and try something new.

Fantastic grassfed meats! You can tell the owner cares about the product and the customer’s experience. Highly recommended!
