You will find me here several times a week. Best meat selection. Best deli counter with delicious catering options. Did I mention the cupcakes??? Best service!!! There are always plenty of registers open so you are never delayed. Everyone who works there gets to know you and are very friendly ;) It’s farther from home than another local chain, yet I still prefer Heartland Marketplace!

Do not buy their fried chicken from the deli counter! I bought some, and it was so hard and dried out I could not eat it. It tasted like it had been sitting under the hot lights for two days. When I tried to return it for a refund as it was inedible, the lady gave me a really hard time. That aside, it is a pretty decent grocery store. Their fresh meat is very good and reasonably priced. Also, I like some of their deli salads — especially the Homestyle potato salad. It is the only store-bought potato salad I have ever liked. They also have a very nice fresh salad bar, which few supermarkets have.

TOOSLOW&TOOCRUDE I visited Heartland tonight to get something called Zip sauce that was recommended to me for steaks. It was $ 6.99 and I swear, it’s just Soy Sauce! There were two people in line at the deli, so I thought I’d get a few slices of natural swiss for my steak sandwiches. It was taking so much time, I went back to pickup some produce. Came back to the deli, still waiting on the same person. Had a hard time finding the Zip Sauce; it was further down, but I got it. Went back to the deli; Still waiting on the same person. She hadn’t even gotten to the second person waiting. The person in the deli was so slow I just abandoned the swiss cheese idea and went to the checkout. When I got to the checkout, I was surprised to see the cashier holding up to the light the twenty dollar bills he had received as payment from the two customers in front of me… Had I mistakenly wandered into some seedy liquor store? I found myself feeling glad that I would not be paying with cash and thereby would avoid this crude scrutiny and violation. When he rang my order, to my surprise he removed one of the peppers from the bag and set it on the scale. I asked him if he had to weigh it. These were individually priced($ 2 for one pepper) so I saw no need for him to handle them with his bare hands. He said ‘no’ they didn’t have to be weighed, that he needed the number.(Most cashiers look right through the bag for the number, even if the items need weighing!) I did not mention the risk of viruses or bacterial risks that may have been on his hands or that scale to him, but I did mention how I would rather him not remove the food from the bag and handle it with his bare hands. He could’ve read the number through the bag like the thousand other cashiers that have checked me out through the years. To his credit, he apologized and offered to go get me another one… no thanks, I’m goood. Probably won’t be back. The prices aren’t great, their service too slow and too crude for me.

Slap your melons, squeeze your tomatoes, and jiggle around your meat to get the right package you desire. Wow, my mind is now going into a different world. Okay, clear my mind. I was thinking these are the things I need to shop for here. This is the season for watermelons. They have a great selection. In fact they have a great selection of fruits and vegetables for a grocery store. I also like the butcher area. The meat always seems to be pretty fresh. Most of all the prices are very reasonable. They have a 10 for $ 10 aisle, good beer and wine selections and a nice deli. The bakery bakes up breads and sweets daily. The store is very clean. The staff, very nice! This is my grocery store preference in the area.

Decent as a grocery store with a wide variety of stuff, especially imported foods. But best is all is the great selection of craft beer– all cold and ready to drink!

This used to be the Farmer Jack which i happened to like more. Its part of the Spartan stores. Not the cheapest grocery but plenty of selections. The meat and fruits/veges are fresh with lotsa variety. One thing i love about this heartland is the deli. Try the honey or bbq drummies, its delicious!
