Let me state first that I love independent grocery stores. My Unilocal history is full of reviews about them. I love the the ethnic nuisances and private labels. I dig finding hidden gems and hard to find foreign items. All that being said, this place would need a major renovation to barely reach the status of being a «dump» I tried sorting through the piles of shotty produce, looking for a score. I passed the buckets of «salted pig parts» trying not to gag. I skipped past the fish counter, with the employees making comments about«the white guy» The check out was pretty fast and easy, all four cashiers were sitting and texting waiting for a customer. Scored some plantain chips. Never again.

This supermarket is pretty ghetto and isn’t very spick and span. However, everything’s organized to a certain standard, and there’s actually a lot of produce and goods to choose from, especially if you’re going to cook hispanic food. I stop by here on my way home from work sometimes to pick up avocados, yuca, mangoes, and bread. The prices are a bit less expensive than what you’ll find at places like H-Mart, King Kullen, but nothing here is organic(at least from what I’ve seen) so you’re better off at Whole foods/Trader Joe’s if you’re looking for that kind of stuff. This place is pretty hit or miss. Sometimes the produce is fresh, but sometimes the mangoes/avocados are over-ripe. Pretty much a grocery store for the locals in the area… not really a place to go out of your way for.
