I go to kabob places quite often and this one definitely was the worst. I ordered over the phone for pickup. I got there and apparently the guys machine didnt accept credit cards or was ‘off’. I didnt have any cash nor a debit card and told the cashier I had no other way to pay. He refused at first but then his machine all of a sudden started working. I ate the food after I got home last night and im just up this morning and now I have the most terrible stomachache. Never again!

I came here to wait while my car was being washed. Service was friendly, but I can’t vouch that everyone speaks english. The dining room was small and I only had the tacos, but they were very tasty. Might be too big of a portion for most, but the flavors were there. Also could have used more spice. But not bad for filling time during a wash.

The chicken kabob had decent flavor, but that’s the only good thing. The salad was completely unedible. I was very underwhelmed by the meal. Not sure about the sanitation of this place either, which is never good for a restaurant! Also, the waitress looked dirty and mean. I will not return.

* There’s water leaking near the register * Very messy, dim lighting, & TVs are turned up way too loud– I felt deaf * The waiters are very unfocused & on their phones– also don’t have a specific work uniform, so easily confused with a customer * Long, uncomfortable waits —– The only pro is their pupusas are pretty great & cheap! update: just saw a waiter pick her teeth & continue her job

The camaron entomatado(shrimp in tomato sauce). The shrimps are JUMBO! It’s really a shame that I use to pass by this place all the time and never even bother to notice it until I read the reviews on it. Stopped by on Good Friday for a late lunch on my way home the place was empty when I got. I the young lady approached me and gave me the menu to look over, I wanted to avoid anything meat so I wanted to see their seafood selection. The picture of the camaron entomatado(shrimp in tomato sauce) looked really good so I ordered it. About ten minutes later I got my food piping hot, and my eyes could not believe it! They used real JUMBO shrimps that is really rare for these type of establishments. Well, now I’m a fan so I will return and see what other goodies they have on the menu.

Came in for the Tuesday pupusa special and were told they only had black bean pupusas, but when we took out order home, one was pork. Good thing we’re not vegetarians! Both were excellent. The chicken quesadilla was cheesy and yummy. Steak tacos were promising but the meat was overdone and full of gristle. I’ll try kabobs on my next visit, and hope they don’t run our of pupusas! The décor is tacky, the tables were sticky and the order taker was grumpy, but a good pupusa is hard to find, so we’ll be back.

Went here because I wanted some kabobs. I do have to say you are getting a fair portion for your money(upwards of $ 10), though the price is not particularly competitive for the area. The meat chunks are huge and the bread is as big as the entire plate and fresh. It is definitely kabobs with a mexican flair, but it was really good. I will probably go again to try the chicken. I had the lamb and seekh. The lamb was great, and the seekh was really delicious. The rice was a mix of afghan/mexican which was good. I liked the salad also. I’m really full so I can’t complain, I wish it were just a tiny bit cheaper. They were playing pandora radio. Take out was very quick. The owner is definitely a great chef as mentioned in previous reviews. Not the most posh place but I will probably go back for take out again.

Had the chicken kabob with chickpeas and rice. The chicken was ok, not a lot of flavor, and the same with the chickpeas. Rice and naan were good. The horchada was good, and the server was friendly. Overall an ok place, first time i’ve ran into a Latino Indian restaurant.

First things first. I’ve driven by this place like a couple dozen times and it’s seemingly average appearance kept me from checking it out. It’s situated between a 7 – 11 and car wash. After searching for someplace new I ended up here with a friend willing to see what was up with the combo Latin/Kabob restaurant. On a Tuesday a bit after 7pm we walked into a mostly empty seating area, only about half a dozen people. Friendly waitress greeted us and told us we can have a seat anywhere. Menu had a good variety. There is latin food available throughout the day. Breakfast stood out to me. It consisted mainly of Churizo and eggs, tortillas, avacado & more in various combinations. But we were here for the kabab. Quickly ordered the beef kabob that came with salad, rice, and chose the chick peas. Previously I checked on Unilocal to see if they had some kind of happy hour, contrary to whats was previously posted, they do serve alcohol. HAPPYHOUR is 4 – 9 with various specials daily(posted photo for reference) In the short wait for the food(10 mins or so) the latin ranchero music commenced. It wasn’t overly loud or intrusive but the CD playing the music did skip a couple times which had everybody including the waitress laughing. When the food came the waitress made sure we had everything we wanted and checked in on us regularly. Later the chef(and who I perceived to be the owner) came out and greeted us and see how we were liking the food. Excellent chick peas, slightly spicy but not overwhelming. Salad was crisp & fresh. The beef was full of flavor juicy and seasoned with herbs and spices. The naan bread was perfect. Only thing I wish I got more of was the green yogurt sauce. I actually debated on getting another order of Beef Kabab for take away for lunch the following day but held off. I was entirely full, portions are quite generous. Friendly staff, good selection on menu and a breakfast I have to try will bring me back here. So don’t look too much into the appearance here, it’s pretty average inside & out but I recommend definitely giving it a go. If the seating area isn’t to your liking or preffer a night at home take away is quick.

My favorite place for a Chicken Kabob! I usually order the Village Kabob Combo # 2 which includes White Boneless Chicken and a Seekh Kabob. The Kabob plates come with a salad(lemon & oil dressing), rice, one side order and fresh baked naan bread. I recommend the chick peas. They are the best in town and you will crave them long after eating them. I have gone there JUST for the chick peas! Yes, they are spicy, chana masala style. About the chicken kabob. HUGE chunks of chicken marinated and juicy! They say they are Halal. The seekh kabob seasoned and cooked perfectly. The portion size is large enough for both my husband & I and then leftovers for tomorrow all for $ 11.95! They have a Latino menu as well. I did try the tacos and although the picture is with beef, I received chicken tacos. They were very dry, old chicken bits and not good at all. They now offer a Latino breakfast menu from 5am-11am for $ 5.99 or less. So the 5 stars is for what originally the restaurant is… Village KABOB! They are the BEST in the area!

Right down the street for us, and perfect for a last-minute dinner. As previously stated, excellent chick peas(albeit a tiny bit oily). We most often get chicken kabob with grilled vegetables. Nice spiciness, and good, chunky white meat. Excellent bread. Great prices. We’ve tried the lamb which was a bit too fatty for us. Look forward to trying the plantains when they start making them again. The long and short: I don’t know that I’d drive across town for it, but considering the quality of food, friendliness of employees, and convenience, we are sure to continue ordering from here.

Long time patron, so much so that the owner waves at me when he sees me in traffic. There has been an increasing focus on mexican/central american food over the years, but the core Afghan food has been just as good as ever. I love the lamb kabob, always with the chick peas(best chick peas around). My wife goes for the chicken kabob, while our neighbor prefers to branch out. The bread is fresh as can be and very tasty.

Ordered the chicken kabob. Delicious! Riquisimo! Chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The bread that came with the kabob(they also give you rice) was delicious, too. The veggies were perfect. So much food, too for the price. It was a nice night so we sat outside. The waitress was so sweet and attentive. I would definitely go back. Oh, and they have really late hours later in the week for that midnight snack.

I have to give this place its props. The fact that I got a pupusa with cabbage and then a kabob steak dish blew my mind. Some of my favorites mixed all into one. Place is perfect to get in and out for a good lunch, and rather inexpensive as well.

I went here today mainly because of the previous 2 reviews and have to share that my experience was much different. I ordered the chicken kabob over rice with nan and chick peas. The chicken was bland but ok, the nan was very good, the worst were the rice and chick peas. The rice was simply uncle bens white cooked rice which for an Afghan place is super boring and bland. The chick peas were also yucky and tasted like they were seasoned with latin spices and not the Afghan ones. I will not be back for Kabobs. The only people that were there all spoke Spanish and perhaps they were the ones that seasoned all the food, but I was looking for an Afghani. Off the latin menu I ordered the tacos as per the recommendation of a previous reviewer. No go as well. They were bland and although had the proper toppings of onion and cilantro the meat was not well seasoned and tasted like it was boiled. I would not be back unless I would get a pupusa which was pretty good. Overall, the experience was not great. The service was nice and the place is a typical local small restaurant that has some happy hour beer specials.

+1 for Charlie’s Afghan/Latino fusion comments! A Combo #1 with Seekh and Lamb plus a papusa is an awesome combination. Over the past six to seven months about 3 – 4 of us travel here or Tigris Grill in Oakton for lunch on a weekly or semi-weekly basis. In the past two months the restaurant has changed a little for the better in appearance and food selection. The food has always been great but it seems like the past month or two the lamb is much softer and the taste isn’t as spicy and have a bit more flavor. The price is also good with most dishes between $ 6 and $ 10 with some combos $ 10-$ 13. It may not look like much but the food here is fantastic and the owner is really nice and a great cook!

In the modern day restaurant scene, «fusion» restaurants seem to be all the rage. Different cuisines are melded together to create beautiful new dishes and intriguing tastes. I don’t know if the Village Kabob qualifies as one of those fusion restaurants, but it certainly serves two types of food that I hold close to my heart: Afghan and Latino. It is an interesting combination but it certainly works. Half of the dishes are Afghan staples, such as the various kabobs, karahis(pieces of meat cooked in clay pan with herbs, olive oil, ginger and black pepper, serving for 2) and baryani, which is more of Persian origin(rice, spices, meat, veggies). The other half emboldies el sabor latino(The Latin Taste) with dishes such as mar y tierra(surf and turf, grilled steak, shrimps with green peppers, tomatoes and onions served with rice) or pescado frito(fried whole fish with green peppers, tomatoes, onions, rice and salad). I was on a lunch mission and most of the dishes, at least the big ones, run north of ten dollars($ 12 ~ $ 14). I settled on the tacos suaves for $ 6.83(I kept my receipt). It was four steak tacos that had been wonderfully marinated and garnished with sprinkles of fresh cilantro and onions. The tacos were wrapped in multiple layers of warm corn tortillas and were served with a light salsa on the side. They were absolutely delightful and were the most authentic tacos I’ve had north of Mexico(maybe I need to expand my latino food horizons). I wish they put tomatoes and guacamole but it does fine on its own. It was quiet during lunchtime, with only three or so other guests eating with the drone of a telenovela hovering over the patrons. The karaōke machine in the corner belies the serene atmostphere. Perhaps it gets rowdy at nights? I definitely recommend giving this place a try. They are generous with portions(from what I saw other customers eating) and great on taste.
