Thai Traditional Bodywork and Yoga

I have a black hole of pain that lives deep in the recesses of my left shoulder blade. It holds all of my fears, failures, worries and what ifs. It’s a well of unaddressed emotions and unanswered prayers rooted in anxiety, and it hurts. Sometimes when I’m particularly stressed out, the pain gets to be nearly intolerable. It literally feels like I have a knife stuck in my back. Over the years, I’ve seen many healers to help me cope. One even told me I was a Native American in a past life and I’d been pierced in that very spot by a bow and arrow. While I don’t know if that’s the case, that’s exactly what it feels like.
About a year-​and-​a-​half ago, my continual quest for relief brought me to the Thai Institute of Healing Arts in Arlington, where I happened to meet Phillip. Phillip can feel my pain. Literally. He puts his hands right on it. No one has ever been able to so precisely pinpoint my trouble area with such a laser-​like focus. Regular visits to Phillip keep me in the clear, and most weeks I forget about the pain completely, until life throws me a curve ball and I have a flare up. Phillip’s pretty sure that eventually we can eviscerate the spot completely. I believe him. He’s one of those people who loves what he does. He puts his heart and soul into his hands and I feel fortunate to be on the receiving end of his care. He’s so much more than a massage therapist — he’s a medicine man.
The Thai Institute recently closed, so Phillip made the courageous decision to venture out on his own. He’s now in a temporary spot while he builds up his clientele with the aim of opening a studio. His rates are considerably lower now that he’s on his own and he’s worth every penny. If you’re in pain and you want to do something about it, I highly recommend Phillip.
