This was a little overpriced for what is was. The food was good, but not great, and the fusion side of things was hard to determine. Okay asian food, ambiance is nice, but the place seems a pretty empty.

This is my new favorite special restaurant. It was just delicious from start to finish. We tried their specialty cocktails for starters. Followed by calamari and a specialty sushi roll(spicy tuna and wagyu beef). Yummy. There were lots of interesting options to pick from in the sushi department and from the Starters section. Both choices were tasty. We shared this really refreshing salad called Pomelo Salad. It is sort of like a grapefruit and they served it mixed with avocado, pomegranate seeds, cashews and some other things I can’t remember. For main courses we had a Crab Cake and a Chilean Sea Bass. Delicious. We also shared a side of Baby Bok Choy. Everything was super fresh tasting. We were never rushed. Our server, Jasmine, was really professional. We can’t wait to go back. Oh, we shared a coconut cake for dessert. It was super. Hard to describe – but if you like coconut cake then try it. Bill around $ 150 — worth it. The best restaurant in the Mosaic area. Free garage parking right behind restaurant.

We went for my 23rd birthday a few days ago. The service was excellent. I am no food expert or pretentious wannabee Food critic, so take my review with a grain of salt. I humbly, feel that the food is delicious. I got trout. It was so yummy! We also got sushi and it was to die for!!! Mulan would have died for it. The waiter was so nice. I believe his name was Ben or James or something really pleasant sounding. Food came very quickly, water and wine was refilled promptly and without asking. Expensive, but if you are going with your family or have money then by all means I highly suggest you check this place out!

Very mediocre food quality for the amount of money paid. The ambiance here is very pleasant however the place is trying to come off as something other than it is.

The Mosaic Center is equidistant to where me and my two best friends live so over the past year or so our meetups have been planned around this area. After eating at almost every single restaurant there, we decided to check out Sea Pearl which is owned by the same family as Four Sisters but with a more global, upscale twist. The restaurant is very handsome with an expansive bar, private lounge area, and spacious dining room featuring dark wood paneling and a subtle aquatic theme. The brunch menu has something for everyone: champagne cocktails, lobster crepes, ramen, pork belly rice bowls, soufflé pancakes and more. They also have an in-house sushi chef so you can get a side order of sushi with everything. They even have several small plates options for $ 8 if you are interested in trying a bit of everything or not that hungry. Normally, I’d be wary of a resturant that tries to do too many things at once but Sea Pearl does it well. All my friends and I were happy with our maki rolls and my crab cake benedict was chock full o’ crab and had a slightly spicy hollandaise alternative. Our whole experience was relaxed from start to finish. I’d definitely come back!

This review is for their happy hour only. My aunt took me and my cousins to HH for a little get together, and we were seated at their lounge area, which is nice and quiet. Sea Pearl boasts some pretty nice ambiance, and their lounge area in particular is super classy and well-decorated. Our server, Steve, was incredibly friendly and quick to bring out our food and drinks. We all got multiple orders of their champagne cocktail, but there was nothing really cocktail-ish about the drink. It tasted like straight up champagne, nothing else. My aunt went hammmm when it came time to order food. We had: a bunch of rolls, crab cake sliders, tiger buns, deviled eggs, calamari, sriracha honey chicken wings, and mussels. The reason why Sea Pearl gets 2-stars for their HH is because it’s pretty freakin’ expensive, but the quality of the food is wack. I won’t go into detail for everything we ate, but these so called«sriracha honey» chicken wings tasted like buffalo wings you get with an order of pizza. #whyyoulyin Of all the sub-par things we tried, the tiger buns were the most edible. The calamari was covered in entirely too much batter and the crab cake sliders were way, way underseasoned. For HH, Sea Pearl simply isn’t good value. End of story.

I had read mixed reviews but was very curious. We so happen to find ourselves at the Mosaic seeking Happy Hour venues! We entered from the side entrance and walked into a cute and trendy looking lounge. The main bar area was just in front of the main door off Gallows Rd. They have happy hour from 4−7pm where they offer $ 1 oysters and a large variety of $ 5 food and drinks. They also offer an even larger variety of $ 8 snacks. We enjoyed our house wine selections, the oysters, and the calamari! Service was awesome. The servers were attentive and even brought out some iced water. We will definitely be back to try out the other options!

Sometimes I get so confused with reviewers on Unilocal.I live in the area and most of the restaurants are chains or sort of average run in after the gym places to eat. This is a fairly upscale restaurant that had really delicious food. We went for brunch and had mocktails, and hubby had the burger/fries and I had the short rib hash. The short rib hash was 5 stars but I thought my hubbies fries were just okay — and I don’t know how you mess up fries, besides I assume them being frozen and just heating them too long. We will definitely be back as this kind of restaurant is a rare find in the area and the happy hour specials seemed GREAT.

Maybe it’s just me, but Asian Fusion is a fail. I thought the décor and service was on par with other nice sit-down restaurants, but the food could have been better at the price point. It must’ve been an off-night because the Chilean Sea Bass was underwhelming. First, it was overcooked. It was somewhat flaky, but way too dry. Second, the flavored are not good, IMO. They use this miso-based sauce on top, but frankly, it was a bit too much and burnt up… It tasted like it was cooking in the oven next to a steak and the flavors commingled. Also, the dried out fish with steak flavors and odd consistency of the jasmine rice clashed. We also had the Szechwan Filet, which was an utter disappointment. The Asian influence really cheapens the plate — it tastes like take-out Chinese food with ho-hum beef. Of course, they overcooked this as well. Medium-rare should be a little red inside, but here, it was pink. Sadly, it wasn’t even a gradual turn to pink — when cut open, it was two-toned. Pretty disappointing, to say the least. They get credit for ambiance, service, and tempura-battered calamari. I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back… they seemed to have executed the two main dishes poorly. dmo out

I came here last night to celebrate my birthday dinner with a friend. As we came during happy hour, we decided to take full advantage of the happy hour menu prices(especially because someone else is paying for my dinner, don’t want to be greedy). We ordered two Ginger Smash, cocktails made with clementine vodka, fresh ginger, fresh clementine, and lime juice. They were perfectly spicy and delicious. For starters, we ordered the Chilean Sea Bass Skewers, but were told they didn’t serve them any more(hint: please remove from menus and website) and the Crystal Chive Dumplings(Foie Gras, lobster &XO sauce). The sauce was delicious, like a thick gravy, but the actual dumplings had zero flavor whatsoever. I couldn’t taste the lobster or the foie gras, both of which are pretty distinctive flavors. You couldn’t taste the chive, either, although we could see it was topped with chives. At $ 8, the price was reasonable, but since they were without flavor, it was a disappointment. For dinner we shared the HH($ 4 for six rolls each) spicy tuna maki, salmon maki, and then off the dinner menu we ordered the Paradise Rolls which were described as filled with spicy crabmeat, salmon, avocado, tempura crunch and topped with sliced mango, red tobiko & honey mint lime sauce. All of these were on point and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the Molten Chocolate Cake with Amaretto caramel sauce & crème fraiche. It.was.divine.perfection. The cake was a perfect soufflé with a rich and luscious dark chocolate custard center that oozed beautifully. I couldn’t taste the amaretto, but the caramel sauce itself was delicious and the slight tang of the crème fraîche was the perfect accoutrement to the cake. The bartender served it with a candle in honor of my birthday. The service was very good as well. So other than no longer serving the skewers and the no-taste dumplings, it was a very good meal.

Always consistent with the amazing food and great service. I haven’t ventured too much into the sushi and sashimi options but I have to say the sea bass here is one of the best I’ve had in the area. I also love grilled octopus, and they did not disappoint. Presentation and flavor is what it comes down to me when I rate a dish, and Sea Pearl is in the right biz. Space-wise, it is quite chic and elegant inside and I love being seated in the booths. I believe that the owners of Four Sisters own Sea Pearl as well and they know how to do restaurants right. The bar area is great to hang out and lounge in with friends, and I highly suggest staying for dinner after. Although there are a lot of cool options in Mosaic to dine at, I think Sea Pearl puts up a good fight.

Came here for my birthday celebration and it was amazingly wonderful! The service was nice and they took time to take our order. The ambiance is trendy and hip. We ordered sashimi, Calamari, Sushi, Fried Oyster, and Steammed Mussel with Mojitos. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and nicely plated. Absolutely scrupious! I do however have one recommendation on the Fried Oysters… It didn’t completely sit well with me when it’s placed on tomato salsa. Perhaps something garnish? Or keep it simple with just the dipping sauce on a nice plating? Other than that, I loved everything.

I am in DC for business. My sorority sister took me to this place since I was craving seafood. WOW! So happy she brought me here. The décor and ambiance is very nice. The service was on point. The food was incredible. I ordered the Chilean sea bass. The best bass I’ve had to this date! The bread was amazing! The table bread had whole roasted garlic bulbs and sautéed onions. The bread appeared to be homemade foccacia. A great jewel in Virginia!

Looking for the spot to go afterwork and unwind over a glass of wine? Want the perfect spot for a farewell happy hour for that special coworker? Thinking of a cute place to suggest for a first date that says, «I’m fun, trendy, with good taste?» Sea Pearl is your go-to! Their happy hour menu is affordable, full of options, and delicious. I usually start off with the $ 4 sushi and $ 5 champagne cocktails specials. If I’m feeling frisky, I’ll grab some $ 1 oysters which are always fresh. Most of the food is Asian fusion and the fish dishes are beautifully prepared. They accommodate large parties, intimate dinners, or a quick drink at the bar. I love the comfy couches in the back that are perfect for that girl’s exhale session or a going away party. I usually get Steve, the bartender who is very adept at handling large parties. He’s always very speedy and is good about meeting your needs without intruding on the flow of conversation of your party. It doesn’t really get too busy during HH so it’s a cozy setting.

I dined here awhile ago and it wasn’t memorable… and then I came back again to try out their brunch and it still wasn’t anything to rave about. Located in Mosaic District, Sea Pearl is an Asian fusion restaurant with beautiful décor. The prices are overpriced — our brunch consisted of one appetizer, two entrees, and 2 alcoholic drinks, came out to a total of $ 75(not including tip). My cousin ordered the lobster roll($ 25!!!) and she said it was average, but it was a large portion and also came with fries and a salad. I ordered the ramen, which was also a big portion, but the broth was too bland and the noodles weren’t cooked al dente. We shared the calamari, which was lightly battered in tempura and tasty, but oily. Although our food experience was blah, our server was very friendly and enthusiastic throughout our meal. He seemed to be the only one on the floor at the time and took care of all of the tables with stride.

We hadn’t planned on eating here during this trip to the Mosaic District. However, as we walked past it, I mentioned to my husband that Unilocal friend Tony J. recently ate here and liked it. So, on a whim, we decided to eat here. The food here is described this way by the restaurant: «Asian inspired modern American seafood». We were here around 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday. At that time of day, there were a few people at the bar but no one seated at a table. There was no one at the host stand so it took a couple of minutes before someone from the bar came over to greet us. We wondered, due to the few people there, if they were even ready to serve dinner. It turned out that they were. The hostess showed up and seated us. One thing we noticed that we immediately liked — there is good spacing between the tables. We were seated at a 4-top which was good as it gave us some room to spread out. Our server showed up shortly after we were seated and asked if we wanted something to drink. I took a quick look at the drink menu and ordered a lychee sakatini while my husband got a Yuengling beer. The lychee sakatini was a strong drink but decent. Each table gets a basket with some onion bread pieces plus a side of whipped butter. The bread was fresh with a nice crust and soft interior and a generous amount of onion bits added to the crust. We decided to have an appetizer and chose salt & pepper tempura calamari. According to the menu, this dish consists of: «crispy Thai basil, green onion, garlic, ginger, jalapeño and lemon yuzu aioli». When it arrived, we noticed that there was a disconnect when it came to the menu description and what we were served. The«crispy Thai basil, green onion, garlic, ginger and jalapeño» were barely noticeable. It was as if a very small amount of these ingredients were thrown into the fryer basket as an afterthought. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the calamari. The tempura batter was light and crispy and the calamari was very tender. The lemon yuzu aioli had just enough garlic flavor so as to not overpower the calamari. My husband thought that this was some of the best calamari he ever had. We liked that the portion wasn’t huge as we still had room for dinner. For my main course, I chose panko crusted crab cake which consists of: «crispy sweet potato, mango, jicama, apple slaw, Asian basil, mint and cilantro and sriracha yuzu aioli». The panko breading was finely ground and lightly applied and there was no filler in the crab cake. The crab meat was cooked to perfection and flavorful. The sriracha yuzu aioli added a touch of heat to the crab cake. The crispy sweet potato was finely cut into strings and added nice texture to the dish. I got my husband to try the slaw as it was amazing — whomever it was that created this side dish did a fantastic job, as the layering of the flavors was awesome. Each bite had tart and sweet elements in it with the basil adding a surprising but prominent flavor yet it didn’t overtake the slaw. My husband ordered pan seared scallops. The serving size is three large scallops. From the menu: «English peas, asparagus, beech mushrooms, sweet potato crisps and blue crab saffron broth». Yet, there was another disconnect when it came to the menu description — rather than sweet potato crisps, there were potato crisps. My husband raved about his dish. He said that the scallops were perfectly cooked. He liked the veggies and thought that the earthy flavor of the beech mushrooms complimented the English peas and asparagus perfectly. While he didn’t taste any crab in the«broth», he still enjoyed it. In fact, he used the bread to sop up every last morsel of that sauce! As other reviewers pointed out, it’s not cheap to eat here. Before the tip, dinner cost $ 93 + change. We liked that we were left not feeling too full. The décor here is very nice and tasteful. We discussed our experience here and my husband says that he wants to go back again — and I agree.

This was my first time here. I had a 6:30pm dinner reservation for my party of 3. I was the first to arrive at 6:30pm for dinner. I opted to sit at our table and wait for my other family members to arrive. As you can see from my pictures the restaurant is quite large and modern. The bathrooms here are individual private bathrooms with a communal sink. They are something to experience. Make sure you use their bathrooms. When my family arrived we started with two Hot & Sour cocktails for $ 12 each, the PEI mussels for $ 15 and duck dumplings appetizers for $ 10, all of which were very tasty. I ordered the fisherman’s stew for $ 32. I enjoyed my stew. I also enjoyed my Dirty Bastard draft beer for $ 6. My family enjoyed their Sea Bass for $ 32 and cod for $ 26. We ended our meals with a Cappaccino for $ 4.74, double espresso for $ 8 and the coconut cake for $ 10. Don did an excellent job of serving our table. The total damage less gratuity was $ 193.66 I plan to return here again with my family.

Happy Hour review only: Walked in on a Wednesday night at 6:30 and was glad we made it in time for hh(4−7pm). I’ve seen this place so many times since my gym is right across but never had a chance to come and try it. I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised when I walked in because it is pretty fancy inside and larger than I expected. The bar area is pretty open and there are dining areas on both sides with lounge/couch areas as well. We ordered several rolls and nigiri pieces as well as the chives dumplings(foie gras, lobster). Everything was just average but a good deal. I really liked their salmon skin rolls and that says a lot because it is hard to find a sushi place that does them well. The chive dumplings weren’t that great in my opinion but my bf enjoyed them. It had foie gras and lobster in them which I couldn’t taste too well but I’m not a huge dumpling fan so maybe I’m biased. Overall pretty impressed with the place. The sushi quality wasn’t superb but for hh what do you expect. Will definitely come back for the hh sushi deals! Oh, and $ 1 oyster deals that I want to check out!
