Courtneys Custom Cakes

We were very pleased with the cake Courtney did for our daughter’s 2^nd birthday. They were nice to work with and the cake was ADORABLE!

I’m a repeat customer and will continue to purchase cakes from Courtney’s Custom Cakes in the future. The cakes taste great and look pretty too. The prices are reasonable compared to other bakers.
My favorite flavors are lemon, almond and red velvet, and I really like the cake pops.

It was my god-​daughters 2^nd birthday with an Elmo theme, saw an amazing cake by Courtney’s Custom Cakes so I decided to give her a call, more than a week prior to the event.
Everything was good until the day of when we had planned on picking up the cake at 12 noon, the party was at 2pm (in Ashburn, an hour away). Courtney text me early that Sunday morning and asked if I could come at 1 instead of 12 to pick up the cake, she had an emergency at work and had to go in. OK, I’m sure the cake is worth the wait. I show up at her home promptly at 1 to pick up the cake. I get another text, running late, she’ll be there in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later another text, just left work. 20 minutes later the door magically opens and there’s Courtney. I go in and get the cake, it’s not in a box, only on a circular platter as big as the cake. In my haste, I pulled the cash out of my pocket and put it on the table, not realizing I pulled the cash from the wrong pocket and accidentally gave her an extra $ 60. Left to get the party, by the time we got there, the eyes and nose for Elmo were falling off the cake, the frosting was melting and the mouth had completely slid off the face. After finally arriving at the party 45 minutes late we had to put the pieces back together the best we could. So later when I realized that I had gave her too much money I gave her a call, no answer. Gave her a text and she said that there was only $ 20 extra and thought that it was a tip. Why would I leave a tip for a cake that fell and apart and made me 45 minutes late for the party?
I’m sure other people have had better experiences with this business, but I can never use this service again. I’m really sad to say that this experience was horrible.

I visited Courtney’s Custom Cakes today and really enjoyed my experience for my tasting appointment. Courtney was delightful to meet, was accommodating when I was running late, and exceeded my expectations in her preparedness. I had a specific vision in mind for my cake selection, but she had alternative options for me to view readily available to make me aware the sky would be the limit with what I could choose from. My favorite was her french vanilla cake and signature almond icing, while the red velvet and strawberry cheesecake flavored cakes did not disappoint either. I only wished I had more cake to bring home with me haha.
