Seems like their quality is dropping. Haven’t been there in a couple of years, but I’m remembering a much larger menu and better quality sandwiches. I had«The New Yorker» today(pastrami, hotdog, Russian dressing, provolone cheese on grilled rye). First thing I noticed was just how much butter the bread was grilled in(dripping in butter). Overall the sandwich was soggy on the inside from the pastrami and hotdog, and on the outside from the butter. Taste was good, but pretty messy to eat.

Simple but good, this is what my friend Michael Palombi would describe as the quintessential delicatessen. The BLT I had was delicious, the fries crispy but not too crispy on the outside, and the fruit in my fruit salad tasted fresh even in the middle of winter. The waitress did mix up my order twice – brought me pasta salad twice instead of fruit salad – but was apologetic. One thing that makes this place different is that it has a bar, serving a variety of wine & bottled beer, and has a happy hour on weekdays from 5 – 7. Would definitely recommend for an affordable brunch or dinner.

The most amazing Maryland-style Crab Soup that I have ever had. Excellent service by a personable, charming waiter.

We went here because it’s close to home and it’s snowing outside. First things first, the service in here tonight was fantastic. There was one fella serving and as soon as we came in he was ready to help. My lady friend is a little on the sick side and he came right over and offered to bring her a bowl of Matso ball soup and a mug of hot water. I didn’t catch his name bu the guy was just plain on and he really brightened our evening. The food was quite tasty, totally worth the trip. She had the Wes Johnson and it was delicious. I had the cheese steak sub, also quite tasty. Quality french fries. Past reviews said service stinks but something must have changed since then because that wasn’t our experience at all. Love the service and love the food. I am full and will probably be taking a nap in a moment. Go here, eat, have fun.

Decided to eat lunch here based on Unilocal reviews. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was not that good and very expensive for what I got. Part of the problem was that I did not read the menu carefully. I got a pastrami(or corned beef) Ruben and there were little pieces of hot dog inside. Awful. I like hot dogs but not on my Ruben! The crab soup was full of cab shell and one of the worst I have had. Definitely not worth the money I paid.

Great place, not fancy, good breakfast and lunch(never been for dinner). Service always excellent, food is always consistently good, prices are fair, has some charm. Good portions too.

Headed home from Sterling and was hankering for some mazoh ball soup. Usually, I’d go to Chutzpah, but it was guaranteed to be packed Sunday morning, and City Diner was a bit out of our way, so we settled on Celebrity. Unfortunately, they were out of both mazoh ball and chicken soup, so I had to settle for the latkes, corned bee knish, and whitefish salad with a side of slaw. The kids had chocolate chip pancakes, chicken tenders, and the wife did the lox & bagel. All excellent and big portions all washed down with Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray. No complimentary pickles, but I’ll live. If you’re leaving this place hungry, you probably have a tapeworm. By the time we left at 12:30, it was packed, so come early on the weekend.

Celebrity Delly is a NY-style type of a deli place that offers breakfast, lunch, appetizers, soups, salads, subs, triple deckers, sandwiches, burgers, dogs, and desserts. The hubs and I came here for an early dinner, and we tried the following: a House Made Meat Knish(a puff pastry stuffed with cuts of corned beef, sauteed onions, potatoes, and seasonings; this was okay); a House Made Potato Knish(a puff pastry filled with seasoned potatoes; I preferred this than the meat version); Potato Pancakes(came with 2 pieces; the exterior was slightly crispy, and came with your choice of sour cream or apple sauce; I opted for both!); the Elliot Segal(a grilled sourdough filled with corned beef, pastrami, melted provolone, cole slaw, and a Russian dressing; this was pretty tasty, and the corned beef and the pastrami, while slightly dry, were served hot and thinly-sliced); and, the Wes Johnson(a grilled sourdough filled with grilled roast beef, melted muenster cheese, cole slaw, and a Russian dressing; this was slightly wet and more on the soggy side). Both of the sandwiches came with a side of crispy fries, that were actually pretty tasty. Staff were friendly, and I liked the mural of the celebrities on the wall and the open kitchen. +Elliot Segal sandwich +crispy french fries +creamy cole slaw +plenty of parking(located in the ex-Loehman’s plaza)

$ 20 for a sandwich and a coke! The coke was $ 5.79 which is outrageous. $ 5.79FFS. I had the chicken club and it was very tasty but again expensive at $ 10.99. Subway you can pay $ 7 for this.

We have eaten here many times. The ownership changed years ago, and not for the better. For our late lunch today, business was slightly slower than our inattentive, disinterested waitress. She had time the read at the counter, clean the front of the cooler, but not ask about refills. My GF said her tuna on a pita was pretty good. My California Club had large chunks of dry chicken, lettuce, tomato and two thin slices of avocado on a greasy pair of grilled sourdough slices, one side with a tablespoon of mayo. If I had any idea that the bread would need a blotter, I wouldn’t have ordered it. Is a club supposed to be layered? I thought so. This dump and their crappy servers have seen the last of me. For $ 10 – 12, you deserve a better sandwich and it is across the street for less than half the price. DC Banh Mi for me.

It has been at least two years since my last visit here. First, the dining area is well kept, clean and spacious. The counter is still here which I like personally. It seems that the menu has been reduced with options but there are still plenty. Today I had the Elliott Segal sandwich which consisted of pastrami, cole slaw, Russian dressing on sourdough bread, which was outstanding. Our server Agnieska, was attentive and very polite. I’ve missed this place. Not sure why I stopped coming here. I’ll be back. BTW, no intestinal issues like mentioned in a recent review.

I did an OpenTable reservation, which was not really needed on a weeknight as there was only one other table in use when I got there. But hey, why not? Immediately greeted by a friendly waiter who brought me a bagel chip(and then another bagel chip after I demolished that one). He also refreshed my club soda once or twice without being asked. I opted for their«Elliott Segal» — pastrami, cole slaw(a Reuben would have had sauerkraut), swiss cheese and Russian dressing. And when I said I’d like potato salad, he suggested that perhaps I might prefer the fries. So I had a half-and half. The fries were excellent, but then, so was the potato salad. The sandwich was a little heavy on the grilled butter, but it tasted absolutely awesome. Messy and delicious the way the cheese melted over the pastrami and the tanginess of the cole slaw. Yum, this was terrific.

This is one of those places that shouldn’t exist or have any customers, yet, unbelievably, it does. Came here tonight with a party of 8. After we were seated, we were given 6 menus. After waiting a while, I asked the waitress if we could have two more menus. Some time later, a waitress came and took 3 of our drink orders, walked away, and appeared a few minutes later and took the order of some other table, went away, came back a few more minutes later and delivered those 3 drinks, then went away again. A different waitress came by around 5 minutes later and took our orders. One person in our party ordered a soda and was told they were out of it. While ordering his entrée, I heard the waitress say something along the lines of «ain’t no cole slaw with that». I ordered the soup and meat knish. A few minutes later, a different waitress came by and asked me what kind of knish I ordered. Around 10 minutes later, a waitress informed two members of my party that they would have to order something different because they were out of brisket(at 5pm on a Friday night). I guess it took them 15 minutes to realize they were out of a main course. Some time later, they brought out knishes for 3 other people in my party who ordered them, but not mine. For a third time, I informed the waitress that I ordered a knish. Entrees came out randomly, with the two people who ordered brisket getting their changed entrees after everyone else, and of course, my knish came out some time after everyone else got their entrees. My knish was warm and rubbery, like it had been microwaved. I suspect the main thing causing the food to come out so slow(aside from the absurdly inept waitresses) was that they were microwaving everything one at a time. My soup was OK. Nothing special. Needless to say, we never got any refills on our drinks, nobody ever came to check on us, and the waitresses were practically never in the dining area during our entire visit here. Our check came long, long, LONG after we were done eating. Aside from the tired and awkward décor, strange signs, the mirrors everywhere, and big TVs showing slideshows of pictures of the food, this place seems to have nobody in-charge. The employees just do whatever they want and seem like they have no restaurant experience. There are no words

I give it 3 stars. Stopped by for breakfast on Sunday. It was good… enuff that i will return. Scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon and sourdough toast. Everything was good, but home fries were mushy… good flavor but not a good texture. Next time i will ask for extra crispy or order hash browns instead. Good service and it was very busy into 20min of opening. I will return, perhaps for lunch.

My mom was having a bad weekend so I wanted to treat her to a bagel breakfast. Cus in case you didn’t know… the best cure for a frown comes in a boiled and doughy treat. As soon as I walked in, they had Hall & Oates was playing on the loudspeakers. Automatic extra star. The atmosphere was fun and boisterous and I loved the neighborhood feel. Will the owner and lead order taker was super friendly even with my ridiculous order and I couldn’t help but crack a smile when a local kid came running in to tell him all about how he learned all about Ben Franklin at school earlier that week. Adorbs, yes?! The bagel itself was something less to be desired. It was very hard and did not seem very fresh(Tyson’s Bagel Mart FTW) however I loved how their lox plate had all of the fixings and their salmon was of high quality. Looks like they have a solid offering of sandwiches so while I may skip out on the bagel next time, I’ll definitely be coming in for something else!

I got the Watergate salad which is chicken salad with grapes, dried cranberries, and slivered almonds over greens. It was really tasty and all of the ingredients seemed super fresh. I also enjoyed the ranch dressing that I put on the rest of the greens and tomatoes once I finished the chicken salad. The ambiance, and the staff, were a bit eccentric but overall I had a pleasant experience. There were a few older couples in there that seemed to be regulars which is always a good sign. Am hoping to go back and try what they boast to be «famous» subs, or the«best eggs Benedict around» at some point! Well done Celebrity Delly.

My cousin took me to Celebrity Delly while I was visiting VA. I dont usually eat pastrami but Celebrity Delly has the best pastrami sandwich EVER. Their fries are amazing too! The owner is extremely amicable and the staff is very accomodating.

What a fun place! I had gotten takeout from Celebrity Delly(still can’t get over the weird spelling, haha) but this was my first time eating in. You walk in are immediately greeted with a giant celebrity mural and lots of hilarious signage. I really dug the vibe — very kitschy but cool. There was a sign at the front that said to seat ourselves, so my boyfriend and I picked a table about halfway back and our waitress came over pretty much immediately to ask us what we’d like to drink. We got our waters and then put our orders in: the New Yorker for him and the Mighty Milty for me. We both subbed out grilled sourdough bread instead of rye(BEST. DECISION. EVER.) Our sandwiches came out and oh my lanta, I cannot even BEGIN to describe how gargantuan they were. Piles upon piles of pastrami toppling out between the bread… I wasn’t even sure how I was gonna fit the whole thing in my mouth. And yes, I know that is just begging for a «That’s what she said,» so go ahead. I’m prepared. Anyway, the sandwiches were delicious — I could only finish half of mine, and boxed up the rest. For an additional $ 2.99 you can get two sides added onto your sammy — my boyfriend did this and we split the cucumber salad and fries. The fries were a pleasant surprise! Super crisp and very yummy. If you’re in the mood for sides, I recommend doing what we did and having just one person in your party add them on, since the sandwiches are so flippin’ huge. I’ve seen a lot of reviews commenting that this place is expensive, and I guess can see where they’re coming from but… given how much food you get, I dunno. Seems fair to me? Since both our sandwiches were pastrami-based, I can’t wait to try some of the other meats. The subs sound great, and they do all-day breakfast, too. They do honor the 10% off deal if you check into Unilocal,so take advantage of that! I will definitely be back!
